You forget that both Great Britain and France are nuclear powers and quite capable of self-defence and securing the North Atlantic without the 'assistance' of America.

Donald has already criticised the NATO structure so let's hope he carefully weighs up whether to get involved in any conflict. He's just the sort of chap who'd have the guts to say "It's nothing to do with us if Vlad wants to invade Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania" etc..
There's already a non-involvement precedent; for example America and every other NATO member country didn't help their NATO ally Britain in the Falklands War.

I don't underestimate him but neither do I underestimate the US establishment and the influence of the arms industry; whenever there's global conflict the arms industry cashes in, and the bigger the conflict a la NATO v. Russia, the bigger the profits are for them? I think there's more to this NATO build-up than mere sabre rattling.

The US$ has been dropping like a rock...wonder how low it has to get before Trump starts focussing on his election promises instead of Russia.

 

"Breaking" NATO should be the most important task for the world's population. When the Warsaw Pact ended world balance, NATO ought to have been dissolved as well. Instead it has got larger and it is the biggest obstacle to world peace.
