It failed against a military horde. Walls and fences have been very successfully applied in civilian control. Prisons, for example.
Nothing is entirely fail-safe but a wall is a very effective tool.

Good fences make good neighbours, as they say.

The President guaranteed Mexico would pay for the wall. Not through some magical nonexistent tax plan that, in reality, forces Americans to pay for his wall but in real dollars that are to be used ONLY for building his wall.

The President's mouth making promises his ass can't keep shows lack of competence and leadership. That he has majorities in both houses and STILL wants to blame Democrats for his failure proves his lack of leadership abilities.

The punishment of people hiring illegals should be used exclusively as it is much cheaper and very effective in totality.

Indeed. By removing the carrot which the overwhelming majority of illegals pursue you reduce the flow naturally and then enforcement against the "bad guys" can be handled by normal law enforcement mechanisms.

Trump typically latches onto a thought and never analyzes the relevance of it.

There has been much talk about US President-elect Donald Trump’s hardline stance on immigration.

It makes a good stump speech! However as usual it wasn't his idea. He stole it from President Obama

Immigration has been on the decline since 2010. 7 years ago.

President Obama known as the deporter in Chief. He deported 2.5 million illegal immigrants

But Trump inherited a well-oiled deportation infrastructure from the Obama administration, which has deported 2.5 million people
    - more than every single US president of the 20th century combined.

In fact Trump will have a hard time keeping up with President Obama immigration record

Don't need the wall. Keep that 28 Billion dollars in Taxpayer Pockets

a wall is a 4th century bc solution. prisons are meant to isolate a limited area. a full scale border wall is a waste

The thing about a wall is once it's built democrats can't make it go away like they do with all the other border security. It will also force illegals to choke points where they can get nabbed quicker. The wall may not stop everyone, but it will stop many.

Drones are a good tool, too.

And many people simply walk across at will and do so continually.

Yeah, it is expensive and arcane. Drones and sensors are much more efficient and cheaper and will cause almost zero issues with private border lands.

It might not be a beer or acocado. it could be a tax on money sent to mexico, an perhaps a border crossing fee paid by Mexican nationals, a reduction of financial aid from us, or we could just economically strangle them until the cough up the bucks.

so would cutting off benefits to the ones who are here now, things like healthcare, food, etc. Do that and it will help them decide to leave and not come here in the first place. California wants to include illegals in their proposed single payer health plan, that will attract them, not encourage them to leave.

Still waiting for a cost benefit analysis to justify the expenditure.
