    Ironic!

The wars between the Catholics and the Protestants in England happened because the Pope would not give Henry the 8th a divorce from the his first wife so he started the Church of England with himself as the head in 1584. From that point onwards there was a bloody conflict between the two Christian religions each trying to take over as having the sole authority to "bestow the divine right of kings" on the monarchy.

The wars in Ireland between the Irish and the English predate Henry the 8th by many centuries all the way back to the Norman invasion in 1169.

FTR the English invaded Scotland in 1296 long before there was any split in the Catholic church.

Theists, by definition, are not subjective when it comes to what they believe!

That is because many atheists are former fundamentalists. Not all atheists, mind you, some are quite reasonable. But you can always tell an atheist that used to be a fundamentalist.

There is a massive difference between the tooth fairy and indoctrination into a religion.

Given that religion is a form of mind control no child should be exposed to religion until they turn 18. They can then make up their own adult minds if they want to believe in any religion.

Way too easily countered. Not sure if anyone else has said this yet, but I'm responding anyway.

Feeedom of religion has nothing to do with how much freedom of belief is granted by a given religion. Feeedom of religion simply means that one is free to follow any religion, and is not limited by government as to what can possibly be followed. It is a concept based in law, not one based in religion.

    Exactly!

Only a secular government can uphold freedom of religion because it does not endorse any religion itself. Theists are often confused about this point and don't understand that the government of We the People is secular and that freedom of religion includes the concept of freedom from religion. In essence you cannot have one without the other from a legal standpoint.

That is a parental choice and not up to anyone else to decide if they can or can't take their children to church. I personally don't believe in churches or organized religion but when my children were young they were free to go to church with their friends if they chose to. I was raised in an atmosphere of religion and used to go to church every Sunday, I do not believe it is mind control. If you want to object against mind control then you should complain about TV, movies, commercials and schools using mind control to train kids against racism, cigarettes, obesity and everything else they are used to indoctrinate us for or against. Religion is the least harmful of all the subliminal indoctrination that is being used today.

So let me see if I understand your position.

According to what you just posted above parents should be allowed to subliminally indoctrinate their children with religion...and racism...and drinking...and smoking...and gluttony!

That explains a whole lot about the state of the nation today!

No what I stated was if you object to indoctrination into religion then you should object to all the other indoctrination I stated and any others that exist. What I object to is the systematic removal of parental rights. I also stated that, at least in this country, the belief in religion is the least harmful to raise a child in. "religion...and racism...and drinking...and smoking...and gluttony" All of those things are personal choice and personal responsibility no matter how you feel about them.

Religion is NOT a "personal choice" when it is indoctrinated from birth.

In that instance freedom FROM religion is the only alternative choice AFTER one reaches adulthood.

If parents don't have the right to indoctrinate their children with racism why should they have the right to indoctrinate them with homophobia instead?

Are you stating that parents must have the right to raise their children as racists and homophobes?

So you figure an unrepentant atheist murderer will get a pass on judgment day?

This sounds like your personal opinion though and some might disagree.

That being said I am not religious. I am agnostic.

It is a personal choice if parents want to take the children to church with them and there will never be a law to stop them. I would rather the children be involved with church then stuck to their devices or video games or worse then that involved in gangs.

They still have the right to raise their children racist if they choose to there is no law to prevent it. This is why all the media is using subliminal messaging to convince people that interracial relationships is ok.

Absolutely not the main requirement for getting in is to believe that Jesus died for our sins.

So does an atheist who has helped others and never committed any crimes end up spending eternity in hell just because he didn't believe in Jesus?

Sure they have the right, but who in the world is stupid enough to want to do that? I mean, what kind of low-life idiots would literally train their children to be bigots and racists, likely anti-semites.....???? Oh wait, let's look at a cross-section of oh so many Trump supporters....

I imagine some people do but it is not so much active training as much as it is the casual use of the n word during child's upbringing as it was during mine in the 50's. My upbringing was anti-black not anti-Semite though. Now my racism is based mainly on the blacks who think we owe them something for slavery not simply their skin color.

Well if an atheist doesn't believe in God or any deity then in his mind when he dies there is nothing after so what difference does it make to them?

Basically yes, different cultures do not usually mix well unless one gives in to the other.

Actually, yes. That is one of the sad things about freedom. For all the good it brings, it also allows for bad.And of course we cannot forget in that analysis that both good and bad, especially in this context, are subjective values. For example, there are many Christians who would say allowing SSM is bad, while many others say it is good, and even within each category, you will find many different reasons why they feel as they do. You brought up the question of whether parents should be allowed to bring their children as racists. Look at how distorted the definition and use of the word racism has gotten today. Just looking at a person of another race funny is getting called racism today. The word is too often used inplace of bigotry, and that is also subjective in application. So yes we do need to allow for such "indoctrination", at least as far as the law allows, and then try to curb that which we don't want through social pressure.

According to quite the number of Christians, especially of the fundamentalist and evangelical ilk. Now personally, while I do believe that one needs to go through the Christin order to return to Heaven, I cannot concept a loving God that would have only one chance at it. I have no doubt that we are given other avenues.
