Margot your claim about "knowing" KSA is ridiculous, how many Americans are on this site... debating a large variety of topics and I've never heard even one of them claim another post/viewpoint is untrue or wrong because they live in America and therefore know better. It's absurd to claim because of where you live/used to live makes you right

 

I have a number of Iranian friends and have been to Tehran many times. The Iranian people are lovely, friendly and hospitable. The problem is their government and the Mullahs. The Iranian government wants a foothold on the Arabian peninsula and control of the Persian Gulf.

ps. my pov is based on several articles I've read over the past several years... it was also a learning curve for me as I was a typical Israel/US supporter, they could do no wrong... it took a while for me to really understand the manipulation that is going on within the US Israel relationship and the American public

I've worked with two Iranians whose families left there 40 years ago. Great people.

But the regime in power has done nothing but torment the U.S. and Israel with terrorism since 1979.

 

There's scant evidence of the alleged Iranian support of the Houthis.

Yes they have supported Hamas and Hezbollah, the latter of whom I support, but not the former.

But what is wrong with that? All the 'governments' of the Western world support Israel's illegal colonisation of the illegally occupied territories and their routine massacres in Gaza. Why should Iran and/or other countries not support the oppressed Palestinians?

 

Have you any idea of what the U.S. - driven by Israel has done to Iran over the years?

 

Mess with Israel, support Israel's enemies - Iran will pay the price.

We are past that, maxflinn. Israel holds the ground by treaty and right of conquest, has the military to defend itself, and the nuclear capacity to destroy the ME if you folks overrun it.

 

Israel is illegally colonising the land of a people it has been oppressing for 50 years and has been using its colossal influence in the U.S. to wage war via the U.S. military against Arab states it deems as enemies.

The result is millions dead, a Middle East on fire, and resentment against Israel and the U.S. (political class) in much of the Arab world.

Israel has twice turned down Arab peace initiatives in favour of continuing its illegal colonisation project.

I don't want to see Israel overrun. I would support an Israel based on the 67 borders living in peace with its neighbours.

Sadly, due to said colonisation this cannot now become a reality.

Israel itself, in terms of society is now in a very bad place, due to the brainwashing and scaremongering of the criminals that run it. It is an extremely militaristic country whose people have become desensitised to the suffering of the Palestinian people.

It could be so much more due to the intelligent, industrious and creative nature of the Jewish people there.

I don't know what the future holds though. Apartheid is now a reality, and that cannot be good for the collective soul of a nation.

Its people deserve better, but criminals like Netanyahu, and the likes of Sheldon Adelson have put Israel on a very destructive path..

No, for the whole world, if Israeli propaganda pushes a U.S. leader to one day begin a war that we will all suffer in.

 

Neither Israel nor the USA will begin a war, but the Arabs start one and try to run over Israel, the rest of the world will not protect the Arabs from Israel-American reprisal.
