Iran is a predominantly Shia Muslim country.

It fiercely opposes Wahhabism: the doctrine of choice for the likes of ISIS and Al Qaeda.

Of course, Saudi Arabia spreads this sick strand of Sunni Islam all over the world!

As we've seen Iran has been magnificent in helping to crush the Wahhabi terrorists trying to destroy Syria so they can implement Sharia Law on the largely secular people there - millions of whom are Christians.

The U.S. say Iran is the greatest sponsor of terrorism in the world, but this is of course a lie bourn from pressure from Israel and the Israel lobby.

In reality Iran only supports Hezbollah, and Hezbollah are not a terrorist organisation but a legitimate resistance movement. Of course being an enemy of Israel landed them the terrorist moniker too

So, seeing as Iran poses zero threat to us in the West, and fights Wahhabi terrorism, is it a natural ally in our fight against the ISIS and Al Qaeda scum that would do us harm?

The Real Largest State Sponsor Of Terrorism

Don't let the media brainwash you into believing there's a lot of difference between middle-eastern terrorist groups. When push come to shove they will always come together against a common enemy such as the U.S. and Israel with fundamental differences being freedom and liberty, as well as a few hundred years growth in those philosophies.

I think the problem with Iran and the US is that they’re too similar. They may well have common enemies but are far to nationalist and self-important to truly accept outside support and collaboration or to work towards a common goal of helping everyone rather than primarily helping themselves.

    Nonsense!

ISIS, Al Qaeda and other Wahhabi terrorist groups are made up of savages who would murder every Christian, Shia etc in the world if they could. They are fanatics that cannot be reasoned with.

Hezbollah only exist to defend their country from terrorism, predominantly Israeli, but also the Wahhabi terrorists of ISIS, AQ et al.

They pose no threat to anyone, any group or any country that poses no threat to them, and they protect the Lebanese of all religions, Shias and Sunnis, Druze and Christian.

There is simply no comparison between the Wahhabi-inspired animals of ISIS, AQ and others, and Hezbollah.

Hezbollah are a force for good!

This means nothing. The fact remains that Hezbollah is not a threat even to any of those countries that list it as a terrorist organisation, or any other country.

It exists to protect the Lebanon from Israel, or any other threats, like the Western-backed Wahhabi animals currently trying to destroy Syria, as similar terrorists did Libya, with the help of the West, of course...

Looking at Iran through rose-colored glasses is not a good way to assess. Do you think they are developing ICBMs to attack Israel? Iran is a much bigger and overt sponsor of terrorism than Saudi Arabia is. Don't be silly.

    More nonsense!

    Iran's military is - unlike the U.S. and Israel's - for defence.

    Iran sponsors zero terrorism!

Saudi Arabia sponsors most of it, and provides the puritanical strand of Sunni Islam: Wahhabism that is the doctrine of choice for all Islamic terrorists.

You are the one brainwashed by the Mainstream Media - a media that has done everything in its power not to educate people on the difference between an Islamist and a Muslim... a Media who falsely claims that Iran is the number 1 state sponsor of Terror when that honor goes to Saudi Arabia by far.

Taliban, Al Qaeda/Al Nusra, Islamic Front, Al Shabaab, Boko Haram, ISIS and a whole bunch of others "ALL" subscribe to the same Saudi inspired extremist Islamist Salafi/Wahaabi ideology.

Saudi Arabia has been exporting this ideology all over the world for decades and supporting an arming these groups. El Saud was heavily involved in arming and supporting Al Qaeda and the Islamist extremists that formed IS in Syria.

We have been fighting a war in Yemen (on the same side as the Islamist Extremists just like we were in Syria) yet, where is the news coverage ?

Where is the coverage of the fact that we (in conjunction with Saud, Qatar and others) were arming and supporting Al Qaeda and ISIS in Syria ?

It is you that have bought into the propaganda, lies and false narrative that rains down on the citizens from the MSM, Establishment Politicians, Think Tanks, Generals and other Establishment representatives.

Time to wake up and smell the flatus.

Most of the same bunch also classify Israel as a terrorist state. Both sides have engaged in acts of terror. Hezbollah is not going around the world killing Christians for fun and doing suicide bombings. They have been engaged in a 50 year blood feud... one in which both sides have done bad things.

These Saudi inspired Islamist extremists are in a different category.

Thanks for one of the few rational assessments of Iran & Hezbollah I've read in some time.

Contrary to what we hear through our pro Israel US Media,(1) Iran would very much like to have warm relations with the US and has the resources to be one of our best trading partners.

Regrettably, every time Iran reaches out to the US, our Zionist dominated government rejects their overtures

Iran's current roll is to help stabilize the US - Israeli driven efforts to break up the Islamic Mid-East via the Oded Yinon Plan and America's P.N.A.C.
America's interests would be much better served to normalize relations with Iran & aid in fighting Zionist driven destabilizing efforts in Syria & Iraq.

Meanwhile, one of the myths promulgated by our pro Israel MSM is that Iranians hate the US while nothing could be further from the truth:

"In Iran, ‘death to America’ doesn’t mean what you think"
    http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/w...eans/31910553/
    https://www.pri.org/stories/2015-08-17/iran-death-america-doesn-t-mean-what-you-think-it-means

EXCERPT ""Death to America" expresses the anger many Iranians feel about U.S. policy toward Iran, said Foad Izadi, an assistant professor of world studies at the University of Tehran. Iranians remember that the U.S. overthrew the legitimate government of Mohammad Mossadegh in 1953 and supported the dictatorial Shah who followed.

The slogan "means death to American foreign policy," said Izadi. Iranians "have problems with the American government, not the American people." In fact, he said, Iranians are friendly to Americans. "When you walk around town, and people see you're an American, everyone wants to take care of you."

Those two sharply different understandings of the chant parallel a wider disagreement between Iran and the U.S. over foreign policy in the Middle East. The U.S. sees Iran as an aggressive power, supporting terrorism in the region. Iran calls the U.S. a superpower that threatens military attacks on Iran and its allies."CONTINUED

EXCERPT “Why does TV news look like a Netanyahu ad?” asked Chris McGreal of The Guardian on July 31, in his article on the “notoriously pro-Israel mainstream media in the U.S.”

In fact, three main dailies here from mid-July to mid-August easily gave the impression that U.S. President Barack Obama, not Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, was prosecuting a war against the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. The U.S. State Department continues to list the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) as a terrorist organization.

Meanwhile, the Wall Street Journal dispelled any doubt about which side it was on. On Aug. 2-3, its Review section gave a two-page spread — “In Defense of Zionism” — against an oversize photo of a flag-raising ceremony in Israel, in 1948.”CONTINUED

Obviously, you've never been to Iran or else you wouldn't be surprised that Iranians dislike US FOREIGN POLICY, not Americans.
I spent about 10 - 11 months hitch hiking, walking etc throughout the Islamic Mid East & experienced only kindness & generous hospitality. Iran was no exception:

"Ten Reasons Why Iranians are the Kindest People in the World (to Foreign Tourists)"

    http://en.rocketnews24.com/2012/09/...dest-people-in-the-world-to-foreign-tourists/

EXCERPT "During my stay in the country,[IRAN] I soon came to realize what everyone was talking about. Below is a list of ten things I encountered that I believe attest to the kindness of Iranians.

    1. About 30 people a day would approach me on the street and ask “Is there anything I can help you with?” or “Welcome to Iran!”

    2. About three time a day, complete strangers would ask me where my hotel was and invite me to stay with them. I ended up taking one person up on the offer once. Talk about budget travel!

    3. When caught wandering along the street while looking at a map, people would take up to 30 minutes of their own time showing me the way to my destination.

    4. Like Japan, it is common courtesy in Iran to give up your seat on the subway when an elderly person gets on. What surprised me is that many Iranians would give up their seat for me because I was a tourist. When I tried to tell them I was fine standing, they would reply: “You’re a tourist, right? Thank you for coming to Iran! Let me express my gratitude! Please, sit down!”

    5. While visiting the Naqsh-e Jahan Square World Heritage Site in Esfahan, more than 20 people offered to have tea or lunch together, some with their families!

    6. People would frequently come up to me and ask to take a picture together.

    7. People would treat me to tea or a meal for no apparent reason. Whenever I tried to pay they decline to take my money.

    8. Most stores don’t try to rip off tourists.

    9. Foreign tourists are instant celebrities. Whenever I was in a tourist spot, I would be surrounded by Iranians asking me to take pictures with them or exchange contact information.

    10. Nearly everyone you make eye contact with on the street smiles at you and says “Hello!” in English.

I’ve visited over 40 countries in my travels, and nowhere have I encountered a people kinder than the Iranians."CONTINUED

My experiences in Iran, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Turkey etc were very much like the experiences listed above.
You'd be better served to at least talk to people who have 1st hand experience with Iranians rather than believe our pro Israel MSM(1), (2)

    (1) “Studies continually show strong pro-Israel bias in western media”

    http://www.middleeasteye.net/columns/studies-continually-show-strong-pro-israel-bias-western-media-881718416

EXCERPT “Mainstream western media outlets are, by and large, infused with a pro-Israeli ideological bias that colors nearly all mainstream Western reporting on Israel-Palestine.

Israel is assumed to be good, peaceful, and like ‘us’. The Palestinians, meanwhile, are backwards, violent, and foreign. These are the assumptions that most western news outlets start with, and questions like Tapper’s follow naturally. One can easily imagine the media uproar if it were Hamas that struck a disabled center with a rocket, or killed 18 members of the same family, or four kids on a beach.

Studies show that when Israel does commit atrocities, they are often justified by western news outlets, and sometimes altogether suppressed. As journalist Amena Saleem reported last August, BBC News instructed its reporters to positively spin stories about Israeli violence in Gaza during a November 2012 operation that killed about 200 Palestinians after Israel broke a ceasefire with Hamas.”CONTINUED

EXCERPT “The Times regularly fails to mention that the Palestinian territories have been illegally occupied by Israel since 1967. It often uses euphemistic language to describe Israel’s illegal activity, dubbing lands unlawfully seized by Israel in violation of international law “disputed” territory.

Rights activists have been so frustrated by the publication’s skewed reporting that, in February, activists from progressive Jewish human rights groups created a very convincing-looking fake edition of the Times to protest its coverage of Israel-Palestine.”CONTINUED

Meanwhile, Russia, China, India and the rest of the world do not see Hezbollah as a "terrorist" org. but as a political and social service network

Roughly 1/2 of Hezbollah's budget goes to social services: schools, hospitals, home rebuilding etc therefore etc Hezbollah has what is called " street power" i.e. the support of Southern Lebanon's people who rely on Hezbollah for life's essentials

    "Hezbollah"

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hezbollah

    EXCERPT "
"Hezbollah not only has armed and political wings – it also boasts an extensive social development program. Hezbollah currently operates at least four hospitals, twelve clinics, twelve schools and two agricultural centres that provide farmers with technical assistance and training. It also has an environmental department and an extensive social assistance program. Medical care is also cheaper than in most of the country's private hospitals and free for Hezbollah members."[126]

According to CNN, "Hezbollah did everything that a government should do, from collecting the garbage to running hospitals and repairing schools."[143] In July 2006, during the war with Israel, when there was no running water in Beirut, Hezbollah was arranging supplies around the city. Lebanese Shiites "see Hezbollah as a political movement and a social service provider as much as it is a militia."[143] Hezbollah also rewards its guerilla members who have been wounded in battle by taking them to Hezbollah-run amusement parks.[144]

Hezbollah is, therefore, deeply embedded in the Lebanese society."CONTINUED

I am surprised that there is stil sooooo much ignorance about KSA and the Wahhabi reform movement. These clots know nothing about the history of Arabia, why it is our oldest and staunches ally and why they evolved so diffe
Trump has nothing to do with Saudi oil.. KSA sells very little oil to the US.

Sunni or Shia, they are no ally to the US. Our problem was ever believing any of them could coincide and aid our interests, we know better now. Islam is no friend to anyone that isn't a true believer, and nobody should be stupid enough to befriend...

I agree about Saudi, but France is only our quickest ally, to run the other way, hardly a shining endorsement. We should be abanding Europe to its own devices and looking eastward, there is much that can be done this century should we enhance our relations with China, Japan, S. Korea, and other Asian states...
