So a bunch of, I assume, (mostly) 'white', uneducated, Trumpbots refuse to watch NFL football because some (almost entirely) 'black' players are trying to exercise their right to freedom's of speech and expression in a completely legal way.

Well...darling, I simply don't agree with him though I do think stopping the game frequently for endless video replay conferences makes the game static, choppy and highly truncated at times.

Come to think of it, weren't these same (you assume) mostly white and uneducated people perfectly fine watching these almost entirely black players BEFORE they started injecting their social and political commentary into the game? I'm kinda thinking that you're making too much out of race and not enough into these fans having had enough and not taking it anymore.

 

Well done. We are supposed to respect the rights of mostly black football players to freedom of expression but somehow that doesn't translate to mostly white ex football fans.

And every day that passes by where rows of innocent black people are not murdered by bloodthirsty racist cops the disrespect shown to our flag, and by extension our nation, becomes more and more blatant.

 

Meanwhile, it's starting to look grimmer and grimmer for the NFL.

Those are two perennially awful teams. It’s not surprising the stands look like that there as that’s pretty much what those two stadiums have looked like for the past decade.

That being said, attendance is down, sales are down, ratings are down.... It’s been a rough couple years for them.

 

I dunno, I went to one of their games about five years ago and while the place wasn't completely packed IIRC, it was also nowhere near as empty as that.

And if the NFL team owners, bureaucrats, and players want to engage in this spiteful, disrespectful nonsense, then it is their freedom to do that! You ever watch sumo. Two guys put their hand in the dirt fire off and try to drive the other out of the ring or to the ground. Is basically base blocking.

The point is that they are fat not only for the weight but for the lower center of gravity. The same applies on the line.

 

I like a variety of sports, NFL would not be the same without stoppages. It would be something more like Rugby Union (also good).

Slowing the game down has the advantage of making it more about strategy than athletic prowess. I enjoy that too.

Haven't ever been into hockey. There's no snow in any direction for 4000km here. I'll look into it.
