You know as well as every other member on this board, that it is intolerance of the right that has made such a unnecessary fuss over NFL players kneeling. With or without Trump's support.

actually it was Trump and his tweets and calling black players SOB's and making this about himself that has made this such a fuss

I think it was even before Trump. Note that many groups in America, like the Amish, don't stand for the Anthem but that it took a black guy, from a inner city in America, kneeling to pour salt into vile wounds that has made this such a fuss.

Yeah I actually think Trump is just kinda jumpin on the bandwagon.

    http://www.breitbart.com/sports/201...-new-numbers-reveal-massive-two-year-decline/

The numbers show, with 2015 as the benchmark.

    2017 - down 5.1% since 2016 and down a WHOPPING 18.7% SINCE 2015.

    2015 - average 18.35 Million Viewers
    2016 - average 15.87 Million Viewers
    2017 - average 15.10 Million Viewers

Sure, politics isn't helping, but football has much more serious problems. Especially in youth football with the concussion stuff, I have a feeling it will continue to decline

Yup, until football deals once and for all with the concussion stuff...it's ultimate growth will be limited to hardcore fans.

There is NO WAY I would let my young children play tackle football (if I had young children)...and I LOVE football.

As a fan? I am rather sick of the NFL. WAAAAAY too much hype for my taste. I MUCH prefer college football...especially when the teams are not nationally ranked. They just play the game and leave the insane hype to the bigger schools.

Thursday night games being so-so in performance don't help.

Has nothing to do with Trump. It's the players taking the knees that are driving fans like me away. President Trumps comment only showed people like me that I'm not alone with my distaste of it. I'm not watching because I'm tired of people disrespecting our Nations symbols, and I'm fed up with Millionaires telling me about Social justice.

Guarantee if Trump never said anything about the NFL no one would've felt the need to kneel as a team. He started it.

No, he didn't start it. That bum Kaepernick started it. If he hadn't done it there wouldn't have been anything for Trump to comment about....

Trump always starts it because he's extremely good at drawing attention to himself. Note how few players in the league were kneeling beforehand, then compare that to what happened immediately after his comments. Whole teams didn't even take the field until after the anthem that same week.

    So he didn't start it.

Once again you make up a statement then disprove it in the next sentence.

    Yeah he did.

Let me put it like this: if Trump never said anything do you think whole teams would've been kneeling during the anthem or even staying in the locker room that week?

Thanks for recanting your blame of the President.

The players brought this on. President Trump is just another American who loves his country and it's symbols and he said exactly what many of us were thinking.

I saw it, you're still trying to place false blame on the President. You yourself in the prior post admitted a few players were the reason he commented....

The blame lies with those players who started this, not the person who was offended and used his first amendment rights  to comment on it.

He commented because he loves to hear himself talk and draw attention to himself.

And I'll ask this question again: if Trump never said anything do you think whole teams would've been kneeling during the anthem or even staying in the locker room that week?

He loves it so much he weaseled his way out of serving when the country he loves so much called him to serve.

You can keep asking that all you want, it doesn't change who started this crap in the first place. It wasn't the President. And for the record, it appears by the numbers going down week by week that the American people have made their choices.
If the NFL is ok with this trajectory then by all means, it's their product and they can continue to allow these players to use the NFL as their platform for Social Justice. Better hope the SJW's who eat this stuff up actually watch football and can pick up the drop in numbers for them.
it didn't work for Marvel Comics lol..SJWs don't actually watch/buy/support the crusades they bitch about...they just live to bitch about things.

When I played on the defensive line in West Texas high school football a million years ago, I had guys try to go 'low' on me, but more often than not they ended up wearing my cleat-holes in their backs! If they went 'low', I simply went over them, and was able to screw up the other team's play by using my opponent on the line as a 'door mat'.

Your point is well-taken, though. There certainly are similarities between Sumo wrestling and playing on the line in football... but there's a whole lot more, too.
