I haven’t researched all the laws of other countries and how they enforce them. I have no interest in what other countries are doing. Seems pretty stupid to advocate for additional gun laws if you have no intention of enforcing them. It sort of makes them useless.
how much lower to gun deaths have to be for it to be good enough that we dont need more laws? In your opinion oc.
Here's some for you ... If you do a little research, you will find that the vast majority of people arrested in this country for all crimes are young. The older they get, the fewer get arrested for anything. Also, prison inmate recidivism rates drop off as they get older. Here are a couple of graphs ... What this shows us is that the longer a criminal is held in jail, the older they get. And the older they get, the less likely they are to commit new crimes after they're released. But the reverse is also true: The shorter (more lenient) amount of time spent in prison or jail, the more likely they are to commit crime after they're released. So when you hear 2nd Amendment supporters saying that violent crimes should be treated harshly, they are objectively correct that doing so lowers recidivism rates and, therefore, the overall violent crime rate.
I would think if we could approach what Canada has.....a country that has a lot of guns....that would be pretty good.
There are 7.6 million guns in Canada. 36 million people in Canada. Much safer country than the USA. Let's do what they are doing.
Do you want to adopt their policies to achieve their numbers, at the expense of our constitutional amendment? Their extreme restrictions and our 2A are not compatible.
a waiting period is harassment-especially if you buy a gun from a dealer that requires a long drive or a dealer at a gun show registration is harassment making private sellers conduct background checks is harassment UNLESS the seller has free telephonic access to the NICS background checks are harassment for anyone wrongly denied Licenses are harassment bans on any type of firearm or firearm accessory is a harassment
If the government banned every type of gun except revolvers, and hundreds of thousands owned these revolvers, would that be a gun ban?
you mean confiscate most of the guns in this country? ban lots of semi automatic rifles? a worthless handgun registry?
he answered it-he's saying that the only way to get to their numbers is to completely rape the second amendment
I have no doubt that you think enforcing gun laws is stupid, you've made that clear. I think pushing for new laws that you think are stupid to enforce is.....well stupid.
Dig into the gun restrictions in Canada, you’ll find that they won’t fly here without repealing the 2A and confiscating many guns that are allowed here but not there.
fair enough. i noticed something while comparing the US and Canada. Our per capita gun deaths are 10 times theirs with about the same suicide vs homicide (around 2/3 to 1/3), and interestingly our population density is also 10 times higher than Canadas. Is it not possible that less people crammed too close together leads to less gun deaths?
I think that population density is a factor. I doubt we could ever get as low of gun deaths as Canada due to the size of our vey large cities. But we could do better. Population density increases all kinds of problems geometrically.
So, with a higher population density... how much more gun death can we have vs canada before we dont need any more gun laws?
