Trump is up to 2000 lies in his first year. Ok, Mr. Loudmouth, start naming them. Hey don't kill yourself. Just give two or three hundred of them. And at the same time list the promises that he kept.

Obama was going to turn the economy around totally with a big "stimulus". Obama was going to give us an optional style of improved healthcare where you would save $2000 per year and get to keep your doctor. Obama was going to get us totally out of Iraq. Obama was going to get us totally out of Afghanistan. Obama was going to close Gitmo. Obama bragged that he supposedly nailed bin Laden but never showed any of us any proof. Obama campaigned on his belief that marriage was between a man and a woman. Obama drew a red line and dared anybody to cross it but he tucked his tail in and ran. Should I go on?

OK... here's my new plan.... should be acceptable to all

    1. Give Trump 1 Trillion (yes, with a T) for his wall now...
    2. Sign a contract with the largest demolition firm in the southwest to destroy whatever wall has been built to date on January 21st, 2021...

    Deal?

I'm enjoying the shut down. Hope it continues. Essential spending only. Why, who knows, this could be the beginning of a balanced Federal budget for 2018.

Has anyone noticed a change with the government closed? I don't.

    Maybe government is unnecessary.

Hillary and the DNC shot themselves in the foot by alienating the 13 million voters who voted for crazy Bernie in the primary. If political propaganda were that effective them Hillary would be president right now. She spent $1.8 billion dollars and Trump spent $616.5 million and still won. Your argument can be called Titanic.

Silly. He is looking for $1.8B now for Congress to begin to fund what they authorized 11 years ago on a bipartisan basis. Obama, Biden, Pelosi, Clinton, Schumer all voted for a physical barrier on our southern border. $1.8B is all that is needed for now.

And, there is time to work out how to protect the southern border in a thorough and cost efficient manner, taking into account an actual economic justification concerning what would be accomplished.

There is time to work out "chain migration" (where we DO want familes, because America believes in families as important).

There is time to overhaul our visa program so that fewer come here legally and then just stay. After all, that's how nearly half have arrived in the past. The wall only addresses about half - or maybe less, since running that one border is not the only entry point.

Also, guest workers, policing of employers, etc.

There is time to work out a LOT of issues. The list is NOT short.

But, there is NOT time to work on DACA. Those kids become vulnerable in short order. And, while the America public (including Republicans) doesn't want them deported, that is EXACTLY what Trump is working to do.

All that needs to happen is to protect DACA kids who have kept their noses clean and haven't broken ANY laws.

The Dems have been working against America for generations. But this shutdown is the first time they're not being secretive about it. They're waving a giant middle finger at America.

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/negotiating-with-jell-o-how-trumps-shifting-positions-fueled-the-rush-to-a-shutdown/2018/01/20/81215b90-fd71-11e7-a46b-a3614530bd87_story.html
    Excerpt:

Trump is a self-proclaimed dealmaker who has struggled to close critical deals as president — an unreliable negotiator who seems to promise one thing only to renege days, or even hours, later. He boasts of being “flexible” and has few core ideological convictions, yet often seems torn between his desire for a bipartisan “win” and the pull of the nationalist populism he ran on. In politics, he resembles at times an amateur jazz musician — moody and improvisational, but without the technical chops to hold a piece together.

The early weeks of 2018 have felt eerily similar to those of 2017, as upheaval has consumed the president’s agenda and message — including the shutdown battle, a tell-all book chronicling a president at sea and news of a payout before the 2016 election to a porn star alleging an affair with Trump.

“Negotiating with President Trump is like negotiating with Jell-O,” Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.) complained on the Senate floor Saturday, some 12 hours into the shutdown. “It’s next to impossible.”

This account of Trump’s divisive role in shutdown negotiations is based on interviews with more than a dozen lawmakers, White House advisers, government aides and Trump confidants, most of whom requested anonymity to discuss private negotiations.
