anything is better than nothing, as long as they stick to their commitment. Any step forward is good. Doing nothing is adding to the problem

I have not seen statistics on mass shooters. They are nearly always male. Apparently females don't have mental illness in the US.

He didn't, it's a way of deflecting what is a sane sensible argument totally off course. This argument, in my opinion, has nothing to do with your 2nd amendment. This is something much deeper ingrained in the American culture. I am going to start a new thread in the Political Issues/Gun Control section to debunk a few myths, especially about the ridiculous claim that Australia has been disarmed.

The answer to that question is very simple. Look at the adds. Advertising agencies are a very profitable business. If they can induce people to buy a product they will be richly rewarded.

Advertising agencies go to extreme lengths to create a sales pitch. Teams of marketing people, many with degrees in psychology do surveys sometimes spending millions to find out what appeals to customers. Once they find a handle they run with it creating an image/need or desire for the product.

A quick look through the advertisements for this type of weapon will show you what they are targeting. ... It's a man thing .. GRUNT GRUNT

Why do the police need them then? They heading to some battlefield? Although if you live in some large US cities it might look like one.

In some magical way, in the hands of police their function completely changes?

Your childish reply to a reasonable post deserves a smart Alec reply. Especially when it is the truth. Anyway, the only time you answer a question with a question is when you don't know the answer.

Besides, you cannot refute a question. Anyway, you answered your own question. I am just watching the conversation.

    Exactly.

That is always a dead giveaway.

People that know an answer to a question - just give the answer.

I get that a lot from progressives, can't refute the post so claim it's childish or some other such nonsense. In case you haven't heard, one of the reasons stated for banning ARs is because they are ONLY good for use on the battlefield or mowing down dozens of people. So if that is the ONLY use of them, then why do police have them. If you can't debate that question then move along, you aren't adding anything of value.

As far as answering cig's question, that has been done in many other posts.

The answer is obvious...the police have to have them just in case criminals they will go up against will have them OR if they have to go up against numerous, armed criminals at one time.

I believe it's perfectly clear that any gun can be used for good or evil and a child that has an accident with an AR is no different than if he got a hold of any other gun. Accidental gun deaths have decreased a lot from years past.

STYLE, because purse huggers are afraid of rifles that are black.

Why do you people not understand that the exercise of a right is not subject to someone's opinion of "need"?

University of Texas Tower shooter in 1966 used an M1. Essentially fires the same as an AR15 but with lots of exposed wood grain making it look so much less lethal than black colored guns.

That is a false statement. Doing something that does nothing is no different than doing nothing at all. This is nothing more than a PR move. Let's not pretend that they are funding a mental health program in elementary schools.

In it's day it looked like a military rifle.
    Which of course it was.

I just bought my wife a $2000 treadmill (yesterday) and purposefully went to Dicks because of their stance. The president of the company was obviously quite genuine on TV and has to know he will lose sales....hopefully others think as I did, Likely I will be replacing my pistol there as well but she keeps hers(it was hard enough getting her used to that one).

You must be 1 of the 48% of gun owners in favor of gun laws? Well, I hope so anyway. I too am a gun owner, extremely in favor of gun laws, especially the ones we have here.
