    Personal note

I received an email from our freight carrier yesterday morning.

    OECGROUP

    "Dear Valued Customer,

Stemming from negotiations between U.S. President Donald Trump and China President Xi Jinping at the annual G20 Summit in Argentina, the tariff increase from 10% to 25% on List 3 products has been postponed 90 days from December 1, 2018.

As a result, List 3 tariffs will remain at a 10% rate during the 90 day recess beginning December 1, 2018 through March 1, 2019. If an agreement is not reached during this time, duty will ultimately increase to 25%.

OEC Group is committed to keeping our customers informed on current market conditions and will continue to monitor the situation as it develops.

Should you have any questions regarding this update, please contact your OEC Group Sales Representative.

    Sincerely yours,

    OEC Group"

Should be interesting, I sure would love to not have to add that to my pricing next year.

Wait, let me get this straight ....

You are upset with the US, who is making hybrid cars which are "electrified in some way", then you praise China for stating that in 7 years they will have all cars that are "electrified in some way"?

Why the anti-American sentiment? I am honestly curious

Love these people who are bigoted towards people who do not agree with them.

Can you imagine what would be said if people talked down to the black community because they are far lower on the economic spectrum?

    Your hypocrisy disgusts many Americans.

Who said I was upset that anyone is making hybrid cars? And who said I was praising China? I'm stating facts - U.S, car companies and others are making hybrid vehicles, which right now, aren't exactly real popular. China's on a big program to mandate that all cars be electrified, to cut down on pollution. Pollution that embarrassed the hell out of them at the Beijing Olympics.

Why the paranoia that no one can make a comment that isn't rah, rah, rah?

Places like the Dollar Store and Harbor Freight represent a downward spiral for America

Stuff costs more when its made In America because Americans get paid more than chinese coolies or north korean slaves

When you move decent paying jobs to china the residue you leave behind are broken American neighborhoods and cities with no way to support themselves

But hey, who cares as long as they can get welfare and shop at the Dollar Store?

I guess some people just hate the free market

They admire china because the dictators there do not have to put up with citizens who fail to do what they are told

JUST BUY THE DAMN ELECTRIC CAR COMRADE OR ITS OFF TO A RE-EDUCATION CAMP FOR YOU!

Obama dreamed of having that kind of power when he was president

Why will it cost GM more to build an elsctric car than it does any other company?

Consumers are simply not ready in a big way for the electric cars available today

    Really?

    I think you are delusional

There is no “current environment” that prevent car companies from manufacturing in America

LOL You think GM and other companies are moving away from the US because it's more expensive to manufacture abroad! Oh, sorry, you think it's because they hate Trump

Of course its cheaper to manufacture in china with slave labor and no environmental controls

The trick is getting it back to the US without stiff tariffs

And yes, the bloodless GM execs hate trump if he stands in the way of their immigration to china

The market took a major dive when people realized there were four versions of this "truce".

    1. Chinese version
    2. Trump's version
    3. White House version
    4. The truth, which no one knows

    Smoke and mirrors.

    What is driving the markets?

Why? The high cost of raw materials, the high cost of labor and benefits, the high cost of tariffs on parts imported for autos. This is why
American manufacturers are moving out. They have 2 choices: Close or move. These choices have been acted upon since the 1970's, a lack of manufacturing companies in the U.S being the result. I think that when the electric car industry is ready, consumers will
purchase. Ready means charging ports readily available, batteries that last, hybrid inclusion in the product, a competitive price, etc.
Electric cars are still at an early stage of development and can only be used for local driving today.

And you want the government involved to force the issue.

If you are a CEO of a corporation, your responsibility is to find the most cost effective way to manufacture the goods. If the government forces you to do it in a place where it will cost more, then you will have to hike your prices, which will give an advantage to the foreign competitors, and again the government has to step in and raise taxes on imports. Either way, the American consumer has to pay more.

You may not realize it, but you favor an economy which is heavily controlled by the government. It is the opposite of what conservatives want.

The German Government is subject to pressure from the German companies.

All German corporations have union members in their boards of directors and it's part of the success of the German economy.

VW is an exception because 20% of the company is owned by the federal state of Niedersachsen and there is a special VW law from 1960 which makes the unions even more important and gives Niedersachsen various special rights.

tariff is almost like blockade, you know something we only do to our enemy. GM need oversea market in order to keep existing worker. demand for US market are not much, they need shut down factory and lay off if they lost income from overseas.
