Lying is what politicians do. People fall for it all the time.

Yup. The Republicans have the same problem with Tea Party members. Within a party consensus is necessary to move forward with proposed policy. Cortez is new and dreamy-eyed. Someone will explain the ropes to her.

Okay bro, yeah, if SOMEHOW we had a world government where everybody was taxed by the same entity, and we SOMEHOW ignored geographical income disparities and cost-of-living differences, I’d be fine being taxed at 50-70% for making over $50k - 70k. YOU CAUGHT ME. Oh, wait, I still would be fine with it? ****, guess you still are at a loss.

And really, you couldn’t even get the parallel right, claiming that I’d have to be taxed at 70% over $9k. And you’re claiming that I’m not confident in MY position? L O L

By the way, you’ve been calling me a hypocrite since like your first post, you don’t get to lecture me on cordiality, bud.

    Slowdown?

In 2017 Obama handed Trump an economy that was averaging 1.48% annual GDP growth and limped in at 1.49% in 2016.

In 2018 GDP growth was twice that figure.

US payrolls rise 312,000; wages top estimates in jobs blowout
Employers added the most workers in 10 months as wage gains accelerated...

Some "slowdown". If Obama presided over such an economy Hillary would be president, Ace...

I doubt it will put much of a dent in the personal aviation industry. And who knows, when you're writing a check that gives you a free pass to fly as much as you want.... what price is that worth? The OC (not orange county...) is just another example of the get rich off of the backs of others to ensure that she gets some notoriety. As I always contend, the very second she wants to donate her 70%, she might become credible. Maybe, since housing in DC is so expensive, she'll ask for a variance, and set up a Yurt on the Mall......

Yes, and that unfortunately conflicts with your own hope of taxing the poor to give more to the rich. What a shame.

Thinking about it, many of those who will be eligible to pay the 70% tax are the same people who own the businesses that cause the pollution and hence global warming.
So if we tax, say the head of GM or California Edison 70%, then that money collected would have to be given back to the same people it was taken from so that they could use that money to make their businesses less polluting.
    Or am I missing something?

The are already way too many slackers in congress now just trolling for talking points. Don't give the Dims any more bright ideas. Their heads will likely explode.

Oh we're well aware that the 1% is almost entirely leftists.

If someone is poor it's not the rich persons fault.

People who are poor make one bad decision after another.

This is why 70%+ of lottery winners are broke again inside of 5 years.

Stealing money from person A to give to person B does not make person B more wealthy.

Well, according to the "Paris Accord", the money will be bundled and sent to "developing" countries like China.

China will then take all this money and spend every cent of it on reducing their pollution.

Oh man I made myself laugh again.

I’m helping her out. All she has to say is she’ll cut taxes to pay for it.

Well, cutting taxes did bring in record revenues to the Treasury but you are not proposing the same thing since the congress critters always spend more no matter how much they get. AOC just wants up up the ante.

Not to mention it will destroy healthcare, as even as high as those numbers are, will mean a 40% across the board funding cut to providers.

    Yes, that's how it works.

That's why we have 312k new jobs in December vs Obama telling us there's no magic wand to bring jobs back.

How does taxing poor people give it to rich people?

Well, one, in the post you’re quoting, I’m clearly and specifically talking about job growth and not GDP. Two, yeah, Trump ballooned GDP by increasing GDP simultaneously with spending increases and a tax cut stimulus. Obama was actually being responsible with deficit spending, which we saw an utter reversal on under the GOP Congress. Even with that double-edge sword, he could barely get to Obama’s jobs numbers and maybe he’ll land somewhere on 3% GDP. Maybe.
