This idea is bad. I'm not rich, I'm poor. This doesn't affect me. But what if I win the lottery and take it on payments, an annuity??? I'm going to loose at least 70% of it every time???

California also has the highest poverty in the country when adjusted for actual cost of living.

California has the largest gap between the poor and the rich.

California ranks 41st in education, is ranked 41st in conditions that help children succeed, 39th in school finance, and 30th in achievement.

California ranks 42nd in fiscal condition.

The mythical image of California is a mirage, I'm afraid. Much like all far left states including New York, New Jersey, etc.

If we're using the global standard of wealth, our poor are better off than the upper class in many European countries. The US poor aren't really poor even compared to Europe.

Yeah, the "Greatest Generation" got a GI Bill for going overseas and getting killed by the tens of thousands freeing the entire world. How dare they get a GI Bill.

Go pick up a rifle and put your neck on the line and I'm sure you'll get a GI Bill too.

    I'm confused though.

If we're saying that it's mainly leftists that are the 1%, then who exactly are you railing against? I'm not aware of any of those lucrative "GI Bill" lottery winners ever becoming the richest people on earth.

No, the reason that 70% of people go broke after winning the lottery is they spend it all. That's why they were poor before they won the lottery.

Want to not be poor? There's a simple formula: Don't commit crimes, don't do drugs, don't have children as a teenager, and apply yourself. Unless you're mentally retarded, you will have a decent life with that simple formula.

Yes, the rich will leave. Study what happened in France.

I know that the only people who want heavy taxation and "free" stuff aren't the people who are going to be paying for it.

Who's looking down on who? I'm not the one calling you names.

Who said, "To never return". Bizarre.

Over the decades as taxation fluctuates, some of the rich do move back and forwards. In fact, Lewis Hamilton is British, drives F1 cars and is located in Switzerland for tax reasons, they have a lower tax burden than the UK. When it comes to millions and billions, this patriot business is irrelevant to them and to companies.

Personally, you should question Google's and Apple's patriotism. Google moved $19.9 to Bermuda for tax reasons in 2017 and I believe Apple have just moved umpteen billion recently. The American government should still tax it and with it being off shore, at a greater level.

its because they accumulate debt that requires monthly payments, but they neglected to realize they were only getting one check a year... miss coupla payments and the repo man comes...

    Right.

    They make bad choices.

If you were to give most of them jobs that paid 100k a year, it wouldn't help them. They'd still be in debt.

None of the above. It's because they were determined to remain poor.

The problem is, they do want it. Really, really badly. Hence the lifelong determined avoidance of those formula elements.

    -"Illegal immigration is wrong"
-People illegally in the U.S. are "illegal aliens," not "undocumented"

I have already acknowledged your new exceptions. The game plan is to keep adding exceptions until only others have to pay for your opinion. If you are okay with paying more taxes, what is stopping you? Send them a check today!

They'll never admit it, even though they know it's true.

That's why they get so butt hurt when you mention it. Too much reality for them all at one time.

No matter how much they make, they don't make enough to contribute.

OTHER people, on the other hand, need to pay up.

Take the people from a ghetto and drop give them new homes and jobs in the high end part of town.

    Come back in a year.

That high end part of town will be the new ghetto.

Well I think every half cocked idea they have should be put up for a vote. Let's have it on the public record.

Hey Ocasio-Cortez, if you want more money to spend then do what the rest of us have to do - hold a damn bake sale or raffle or something!

Politics is the only industry where you can steal stuff legally.

To a hard-leftist virtue signalling takes priority over getting anything actually done.
