Some air travel, yes.. not all.. but certainly a lot of domestic flights under 2 hours could be eliminated with better and faster rail systems..

That would be a decent start.. ain't gonna happen overnight..

Oh so do I hate that expression and find it more a crutch for people who have no answers, no solutions but want to sound sanctomonous and not saying that is the case here. Seeing young blacks who have just come out of their Black Studies telling everyone we need to start a conversation on race that's the solution. We have been discussing race since I was a kid in school in the 1950's and 60's. Climate Change/Global Warming, we've been discussing it for decades. The fact is the policies in this Green Bill are absurd, won't work, cannot be instituted and a waste of time. They are quite sophomoric and McConnell is going to call the Democrats on it. Let's see the Democrats who have announced they are running for President go on record that they support doing these aburst things like get rid of cows and retrofit or rebuild EVERY building in the country in the next 30 years. And no fossil fuels in 10 years.

 

If you don't step up to bat, you might as well not play the game. Some big ideas will work, some will not. Given the growth of solar energy industry in the US, the Obama renewable energy investment certainly paid off bigly, rendering Solyndra small change.

But I see what you are saying. Why bother with big goals. Why bother proactively planning for meeting long term goals. The evolution to renewable gridless local power generation and industrial strength portable storage is socially and economically transformative. Even without the environmental issues of a petrochemical based global economy the economic metrics of this new paradigm are compelling and the profits to the leaders, overwhelming.

 

Who knows but if you think AGW is real then better sources of power will have to be found. Probably a mix of solar, wind, nuclear and fusion. But no question that coal has to go. The goal of eliminating all fossil fuels is worthy and may or may not be achievable but obe yhingbis gor sure if the efgort isn't made nothing is ever hoing to happen.

And I haven't seen a Democratic bill on the Green New Deal. Perhaps you can give me the number of the Democratic bill.
