It could be as simple as asking New Mexico's governor for some, "motivated militia".

Oddly, I made no mention of the second amendment. What’s up with that? A little preoccupied with the thing are we? :)

Yes, fundamentals matter under Capitalism. Business owners have security problems. Our Second Amendment is not Implied and we should not be wasting our tax monies on our alleged wars on crime, drugs, and terror.

I predict all the grocery stores in the area will adopt a Sam's Club model, where you have to pay a membership fee to get in.

Convenience stores will adopt the plexiglass window model, and will have to raise their prices.

I imagine this will only excacerbate "food deserts".

But certain poor people have already declared open season on those with money, so they can justify shooting and robbing rob them.

The definition of a right is:
"This term is given to a right that has been guaranteed by the United States Constitution that cannot be violated by laws or by Congress."
But a felon cannot own a firearm, so is the 2nd Amendment really a right?

ALL rights, INCLUDING the 2nd Amendment, can be REGULATED by the government of We the People.

Scalia STIPULATED that in his Heller opinion.

In California when the county jails are full, they just pick a bunch and push 'em out the door to roam the streets.

Felons don't need the 2nd amendment. When they commit crimes it's almost always with stolen guns so it can't be tied to them when they ditch it in the bushes while running away.

Those businesses pay taxes. How are they freeloaders? At least now you won't have to visit your relatives in jail.

Taxes are part of a social net that includes police and infrastructure. Do you really think a business owner pays enough to cover either of those items to their facility?

We don’t, if you were confused.

One of the most important functions of government is to facilitate trade between citizens. Roman law was developed around this idea. The business owner is not the only entity to gain via protection of his business, his customers and employees gain as does the local community and the larger community. There is absolutely no coherent argument against this concept, it is a core component of every functional government in every first world nation now and every empire of the past.

I know this, my point was to show the hypocrisy of the “everything I don’t like is socialism” argument. I am not arguing that business should have to be completely self reliant, we live in a society — societies are formed to make the lives of its inhabitants more secure and more comfortable.

What is a “society “ in your definition? Government is not my “society “. I provide my own security and comfort. I have no problem with businesses providing their own security, but government needs to stay out of the matter when business owners start shooting thieves who will become a bigger threat to their business with encouragement from the Dallas DA. The police will stop responding to theft calls if the DA is going to ignore their efforts.

The United States of America is a society.
So you built your own roads? Pay for your own military? Interesting...

I am fine with criminals being shot.

It was a sarcastic remark. Sorry that escaped you. You can also read post #168 only a few posts above that explains it since you are having trouble with the larger dialogue.

Critical thinking been an issue lately? Maybe you should have that check out.

Raise all prices to $751, but everything is on sale to the actual sale price. Sam's Club model sounds good.

Just where did I say that I believe in no taxes and no government? You want no consequences for theft, but there will always be consequences. People will not allow themselves to be stolen from to the point of bankruptcy. They will take their money and leave or they will protect what is theirs. Why not just help the police do what they are supposed to do and back them up with a competent prosecution?
