So...they just go to another story and continue to shoplift until they don't get caught.

Can't prove intent without video of someone actually saying it. But one demographic makes up the majority of the petty crimes they're attempting to dismiss. So why change it? What are they trying to "fix"? We'll see how it shakes out when people exploit it. Oh, its just groceries! Oh its just a toy! Oh, its just food, I DESERVE IT!!! Oh, its just a phone or a laptop or a tablet. I need THAT too. Oh, its just video games. Just some Bluerays! Oh, its just CASH!!!!! What's the harm?

Even more remarkable how many people condone open season shooting of people living in poverty.

If I was allowed to protect my property it wouldn’t be an issue. We wouldn’t even be discussing this. The state created a problem then refuses to address it. Again.

And you don’t even see half the equation. Scary stuff.

nice try but point failed....those business owners still have to pay taxes which fund law enforcement so they are still entitled to protection by them

So the gist of this thread.... conservatives are evil.... thieves are good and should be encouraged to steal more and never be held responsible for their actions. The only question remaining is how long will it take the lunatics to collapse civilization.

I see all sides of the equation, I understand property rights — the need to secure them but I also see some of the other items many republicans are calling for including but not limited to religious refusals and fighting against healthcare for all while cheering a taxpayer funded militarized police force that seems to constantly be able to escape legal scrutiny (if this was healthcare being discussed socialism would have already been whined about). Same with social security, infrastructure, and so on

So they pay a fraction (some pay zero) while everyone else pays the bulk but they are entitled to the services.

Interesting argument. Seems almost like we live in a civilized society that is greater than the individual.

    Right?

Fair enough, I see your point. I’m no fan of the direction LE is going either. From militarization to asset seizures.

I just think healthcare and protection of property rights aren’t even remotely related except possibly inversely.

I guess that’s an option but not really necessary. We just need freedom to do our own property protection.

are Texans too lazy to muster the militia to protect their own property?

My point was basically the hypocrisy of the narratives.

I support our police but think we have trained them as if they are in combat with Americans, there are definitely some bad ones that stand out but the majority deserve nothing but respect. They do a difficult job that few could handle with minimal pay — our teachers are in the same.

I support people protecting their property — by lethal force if needed.

Then our only point of contention is whether or not socialized healthcare violates property rights. But that’s another thread. :)

On the LE and property right defense I’m with you. Thanks for following up. This country definitely needs more agreement on rule of law.

Y’all always forget the first few words:
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

Can someone explain the reasoning behind this? Or the logic behind this? I read the article but I don't quite understand.

Am I misunderstanding something here? Did they literally just decriminalize the stealing of stuff that you "need"? Like if you steal a couple hundred bucks worth of clothes that's ok because you need clothes?

There is no logical way that can actually be what's going on. What am I misreading here?

NM militia should go to Texas and show them how to protect their property better.
