In any case, Assange made the bed he is being asked to sleep in. He buttered the bread he is being asked to eat.

He deserves a fair trial. If not found guilty, he should be freed immediately. If found guilty, he should suffer the penalty the laws prescribe...both here and in Sweden.

Assange has been charged with serious crimes by Sweden and America.

The charge does not apply. If you take the time to watch the video you will know that he is not guilty of the crime the U.S. is charging him with because it does not apply by sheer definition.

He has not been charged with any crime here in Sweden. The state is pursuing Assange over a non-crime, one that has not been pressed by any "victim". It is akin to the courts charging you with assault for punching me while I never stated (nor do I claim) that you ever hit me.

Rape means having sex with someone against their will or by force. He did not have sex with anyone by force or against their will. That is not my opinion or what I have chosen to believe. That is FACT. Therefore he is innocent of rape so yes, I get to decide that it is not a serious charge as prescribed by the act of rape.

 

If you are willing to listen to arguments then why do you refuse to watch the video? The video explains that he has not committed a crime as described by U.S. law but that the law is being re-written for the purpose of finding Assange guilty. But of course, you didn't see the video, so how could you know?

And when they did charge him...the charges conformed to what the Swedish law defines as rape.

In any case, there ARE pending charges against him here in the United States.

READ MY LIPS: No charges have ever been made in Sweden against Julian Assange and he never raped anyone. If you do not understand Swedish and you rely only on your over-dramatic news that does not understand Swedish either that is not my fault. Furthermore, the term "rape" does not translate the way your media makes it sound. "Rape" is an English word that does not mean the expression that we have, nor does it include the nuance of the word. In addition to that, you (personally) do not understand the difference between an investigation and a charge ...... or you are just feigning ignorance to avoid admitting your mistakes.

It is important to be aware that what he is charged with in Sweden is in reality quite minor and if what I was hearing last night is correct would not usually result in a prison sentence. There is apparently a difficulty in translating the word Rape with all it's connotations in English into the Swedish alternative which includes all kinds of wrongs many very far from what we consider rape. It is interesting that we are not being notified of this by our papers. That would appear to be to put people off him.

Well Assange is not from the US. That is why people who wrongly agree that if he was from the US he should be charged, do not believe you have the right to try this on someone who is not from your country.
