Trump laughed and joked when a guy in his hate rally audience suggested shooting the Latin Americans in the caravans he had been whipping up a xenophobic frenzy over at the time. That rhetoric and behavior, not "violent" video games, inspires such hatred and violence. It is really damned sad that the moribund political party supporting this hate monger in the White House would even attempt to place the blame on ****ing video games. Millions and millions of people around the world play "violent" video games, and it never makes mass shooters of them. That is a terrible attempt at distraction and at shirking responsibility for this white nationalist streak within modern conservatism and regularly given a voice by Dirty Don himself that is actually the inspiration for the increasing white nationalist violence that we have been seeing.

This MSNBC segment features a clip from the hate rally where Donald laughed and joked at the suggestion that the human beings in the caravan, which the hate monger was repeatedly calling an invasion with great emphasis, should be shot.

Profiles of mass shooters show a that they are frequent players of violent video games. One mass shooter shot an amazingly high percentage of head shots - so high that skilled marksmen could not believe it. Violent video games give scoring bonuses for head shots.

Exactly. The generic profile of a young mass murderer put together by FBI consultant Dr. James Magee shows exactly what you have been talking about includes a fascination with media violence including violent video games.

The 'mass killings' world wide pale into insignificance when compared to the overwhelming mass killings in the USA.

The "culture" kids are exposed to is definitely more violent than anytime in the past. However, I do not think it is a failure to identify reality from fiction. I believe that identity of a game as being important in a person's life is a major factor. You mentioned going outside and playing. I did the same. Pick-up baseball games, in a field that was really too narrow and too small to play baseball on, is a fond memory. Many kids do not go outside, let alone socialize without a phone in their face. They sit in the house and play games.

Almost all of these shooters were "social misfits". History of being bullied is a common pattern. Quite often, the shooter has been suspended and/or expelled from school. Maybe we should pay attention to when a child is expelled from school. The reason could be illuminating.

No one said video games cannot be used to train or enhance skills. That is why the military uses them. They can be great simulators for many situations from flying a plane to hitting a golf ball. That has nothing to do with the point that video games CAUSE gun murders. It is a bunch of old people that know nothing about video games trying to assign blame when all the evidence points against it. If the profiles of mass shooters show they eats a lot of bacon it does not mean bacon causes gun violence. It simply means a lot of people like bacon just like a lot of people around the age of these shooters like video games.

They certainly contribute to pushing vulnerable individuals over the edge. Obsession with media violence and playing violent video games is consistent part of young mass murderers.

I doubt anyone there was armed. I live in a concealed carry state as well where no permit is required, and also lived in Texas for 7 years. I think you have a distorted view of reality. Not nearly enough people arm themselves like they should.

I have seen no evidence of video games or media violence pushing vulnerable individuals over the edge. Look, I have done no research on this topic but we can all be reasonable an examine the data logically. All young people probably consume the same violent media and play the same games. Whether it be violent first person shooters, MMORPGs, RTS, or platform combat games. I do not think these mass shooters are playing video games or media any different than other people in their age group. We all watch the same movies whether it be Avengers, Spider-man, Fast & Furious whatever # etc. If you want to suggest video games lead to mass shooting or gun violence then why are countries like Japan and South Korea, that play more video games per capita then anyone, have almost a ZERO gun murder rate? If these violent games a pushing vulnerable individuals over the edge why does it not happen there? In South Korea eSports are huge. They treat top video game players like celebrities and televise the events. Someone here suggested the culture is different between the US and South Korea and Japan and that is why the gun murder rates are so low. Sure if you admit that culture is different then you are conceding the gun violence is more related to the culture than has anything to do with video games.

Lets take this argument one step further away from Asian countries where their culture is drastically different from us. Lets look at other countries with cultures more similar to us. Canada, Australia, and the US were all colonized by the British. We share history and more important built on the British legal system. So how does the US stack up against Canada, Australia and the UK for gun violence? They watch the same movies and have access to the same social media as us. They play the same video games. If video games and violence in movies are the cause why does it not affect them? If it is culture, what is so uniquely American that makes us so prone to violent? Maybe it is American football... but wait the Canadians have a very similar game.

It is clear that violent video games and media violence contribute to pushing some young individuals into mass murder. It's a consistent part of the profile.

If that was the case, why do other countries do not have mass shootings due to "video games."

Depending on the state, show up at your local gun shop and takes one home....on the same day in some instances.

Semiautomatic hunting rifles and shotguns have been sold in the US for decades. I have one in my closet.
