    I don't think you understand your own source. Allow me to help.

    What your source shows is the percentage of people in that state that live below the national poverty rate.

    I.E. 620k people live in poverty in MS, out of a population of 3 million. In CA, 5.8 million people live in poverty out of 29 million.

    These are just percentages of that one states population.

    IT DOES NOT COVER COST OF LIVING.

    The poverty income determination level is based on a NATIONAL standard by the Census Bureau for poverty that IS NOT GEOGRAPHICALLY ADJUSTED.

    I guess you’ve never visited the “hood” on food stamp day. BBQs galore with steak, ribs, and all the trimmins.
    But yea, the cheapest they can afford. Of PUBLIC TAX MONEY!!!!

    I’m a veteran, actually I am a combat veteran and I don’t buy into the BS that because someone wore a uniform for a couple of years deserves a lifelong teat to suckle. I served around some pretty worthless turds that couldn’t hold down a job wrangling shopping carts at Walmart. That’s why they joined the military, nobody else would have them.

    Now a vet that had his leg shot out from under him is a different story all together. Those are the vets we must help. Let’s help the homeless vets that are homeless because they are vets, not the homeless vets that are homeless and just happen to be vets.

    Vet here and can attest to this both in service and out. Very many of the vets in the VA are there due to substance abuse. A childhood friend of mine wanted to go to Vietnam because of the drugs.

    As typical, the GOP tries to "balance" the budget on the backs of the ones who can least afford it, while giving unpaid-for tax cuts to the rich

    "Unpaid for tax cuts"

    Why, it's almost as if you believe that all income belongs to the government, and any income WE HAVE EARNED, and we wish to keep for ourself must be made up for somewhere else.

    This is the problem with liberals.......they all want to do great things with someone else's money.

    not according to libs/progs... everyone should get a paycheck, including all those peeps peeing & pooing on the sidewalks of san fran... and they shouldn't be taxed, nor required to clean up after themselves, all they need do is sit in their own poo and wallah, get paid...
