The US drone was commandeered to land in Iran intact. That was subsequently acknowledged for all intents and purposes even by the US military. You are right that Iran's version of the that drone doesn't necessarily have all the same capabilities, but it is a good enough drone still.

What you should be aware, however, is that Iran has managed to hack US drones to copy their information and recently publicized it:

Iran will retaliate in a substantial way for the assassination of General Soleimani. Initially, what Iran will likely do is put pressure on Iraq to request US forces to leave Iraq and use that as further pretext to assist attacks on them. In the meantime, I expect Iran to wait for the opportunity when there are US generals/officials flying into an airport in a nearby country in the Persian Gulf or in Iraq or elsewhere in the region in the range of Iranian drones. And for one of these drones to fly overhead vehicles taking the officials/generals to some meeting and destroy the vehicle.

    Sweet revenge fantasies, bro.

Oh, I'm hoping you're right about America withdrawing forces from Iraq. It's high time we cut and run from that hopeless dumpster fire.

I'm not going to argue over the meaning of the word intact. It didn't have to be in one piece to see how it's constructed. A crash didn't have to turn it to dust. I don't believe they landed it.

Even if they were able to spoof it's guidance (I highly doubt) they would have no way to initiate a landing sequence.

There is nothing fantastic about the scenario I mentioned and is the least you can expect in the form of a retaliation from Iran. Otherwise, part of the options Iran is looking at openly and publicly is to simply target US bases with a shower of missiles.

Here is, incidentally, one of many videos showing Iranian drones taking out ISIS vehicles and bases in Iraq and Syria. Taking out an unprotected vehicle driving some officials/military officers to some meeting or base in the region is rather easy. What the US did in assassinating General Soleimani would rate, on a technical level, something like a 3 whereas the attack on the Aramco facilities would rate close to a 10 for their precision and ability to go undetected.

Even though I’m from the region myself, never developed a sophistication about beer, Miller Highlife is my favorite. Now, if we were talking about Graham or Taylor Fladgate...

We can argue about it until the cows come home. The best evidence suggest the opposite of what you mention.

The best evidence suggests it crashed in the sand and they glued it back together with Bondo and paint, wove a tall tale to muddy the water, and used the available technology to build something similar. It's not a copy though because they only had access to part of the tech. The vehicle isn't the whole system.

Even if they did get their hands on a drone and hack it, it was tech from a decade ago, and the dummies went and bragged about it. Op Sec 101: DON'T BRAG ABOUT CRACKING YOUR ENEMY'S CODE, DUMMY!

You think American hasn't made some changes in the last 10 years that rendered Iran's drone monkey business moot?

Wow. One of those may even be bigger than Jerry Jones's aircraft carrier.

To me that's even more evidence that they didn't have control of it.

Silhouettes are probably not the ideal the way to identify ships with modern naval capabilities. :)

LOL Iran has captured literally dozens of US drones and has a museum full of them, without bragging about it the way it did when it commandeered that UAV to land in Iran. Anyway, you are entitled to your conclusions but I do find them without any substantiation.

Iran is investing heavily in developing weapons to respond to the ongoing US military build-up in the Middle East.

Whatever changes the US has made, it didn't stop Iran from being able to shoot down America's most expensive and most sophisticated drone a few months ago. Iran has shut down many US drones, but this one was special because it was a stealth drone flying an altitude that the US felt was immune from being taken down by Iran's air defenses.

Yes and you also claim to be German and be a German police officer and also claim to be vehemently against the Muslim invasion of Germany yet you are on record as being one of the biggest supporters of the one woman who single handedly led the Muslim invasion of Germany, Merkel. Your claims of who you are do not match your documented political beliefs. Bagdad Bob was more believable.

Which suggests we intended on them getting it.

How do we get them to download our code into their systems?

The RQ-4 Global Hawk is a very expensive UAV and the US actually has only a few of them in its entire inventory.
