Good way to get trained firefighters killed by ineptitude. No thanks.

Numerous overturned court rulings would beg to differ.
Once we’ve killed someone, finding out we were wrong is irreversible.

Once we've spent hundreds of thousands of dollars retrying cases that don't need to be retried and housing and feeding people for the rest of their lives that's irreversible too. Not to mention the loss and suffering of the families they affected.

It's not specific to bushfires though is it.

The problem is with calling them "CLIMATE nutters." No evidence for that whatsoever.

What do you think is meant by "climate nutters?"

Housing people for the rest of their lives is cheaper than killing them.
By removing the legal protections of those who could be falsely accused, you advocate for a diminished justice. Untenable.
The majority of victim families report no relief upon the execution of perpetrators. Capitol punishment is revenge and it’s a deterrent that does not work.

Specific to these bushfires right now? No. You might have to give it a few days. /S

I characterize it this way. Those arsonists are climate nutters. Even if they weren't conscious of the ramifications of their actions, it's irrelevant. The media are using their actions as "evidence" of climate change horror. Worry about that part, and chastise those folks for their erroneous connect the dots exercise.

Prisoners are already used as neigh slave labor. Many forced job opportunities pay them less than a dollar a day. You’re already getting your wish. I doubt violent offenders are cleared to perform those jobs. I imagine they’re too dangerous to be trusted with it.

What is fictional is stating that wildfires of this magnitude happen without dry conditions. Dry conditions are the reason we have outside burn bans in Alabama during dry spells. We don't have open burning bans during normal weather conditions. The people blaming this on "climate nutters" is an example of just how far the denier propaganda will go.

The hotter and drier it is the more fires. Just plain fact.

Ok, so apply the same logic to why the fires happened in the first place. Arson isn't a natural occurrence is it? So, believe that AU had burn bans in place, and yet arson still started fires. Coincidence?

How else would they sell goods to their inmates as the only game in town?

Why should inmates be allowed to have anything?

Because prisons see it as a way of increasing their profits?
Don’t you think Walmart would pay its employees crap wages AND make them spend every penny they earn at Walmart if they could?

That’s fine, but it illustrates my point of why prisoners are given the option of purchasing things from prison commissaries.

Eh, maybe in a civilized country, but a tyrannical backwater like Australia? A slap on the wrist and a fresh book of matches seems appropriate...

How do you figure? Lenient sentencing seems counter to a tyrannical government.

Some form of sentencing reforms dictate or has that always been the case?

I didn't say they should be sentenced by those tyrants, only that they don't deserve much punishment or helping burn that place down...
