You are correct, however I do think more Americans should declare their independence from govt handouts. Too many Americans and illegals depend on welfare, food stamps, Medicaid, subsidized housing, unemployment, fraudulent disability, etc.

There were signers of the Constitution from the beginning that worked to overturn slavery in America. America overcomes it's faults. In the 1700's, a great number of immigrants sold themselves into servitude to pay for their passage. After the agreed to time period, say 5 or 8 years, the man would then be a free man. Parents would sell their children to masters under the guise of an eventual apprenticeship. In colonial America, everyone had a lord they had to bow to.

Where was this attitude prominent? Why do you single out America? We were a wilderness nation. Special circumstance prevailed. Don't you think America overcame an awful lot, sometimes sacrificing blood to overcome? Many other nations still practice these forms of slavery. Because a sincere faith in God reflects a value to life. A child in the womb, with it's own blood type and unique DNA is an individual life. People never lost the right to pray in school. The so called 'ban' on school prayer is simply the schools not leading organized prayers anymore or forcing people to pray. Individuals can pray all they want.

 

Science has saved millions of lives, lot of them children and at risk fetus, through research and prenatal care. Prayer? Not so much. I guarantee that the money I've given to Doctors Without Borders has saved more lives of children than the lifestyles of the rich and famous TV preacher squad.

Want to save children? Take all the money and time spent on anti-abortion crap and spend it on prenatal care and incubators for the wanted children who make it past the third trimester.

The Liberties you speak of were only for land-owning white males at the time of the Declaration and the Constitution - so if rights are "God given" what happened to the "unalienable" rights of over 50% of the population? Weren't they taken away, and later given back by the laws of men? Sorry - not buying the whole "God given" thingy here.
