Does anyone here support defunding or eliminating police? If so why?

The police tried that here in Indianapolis. They took off their helmets and marched with the protestors. Guess what reaction it got from the leaders of the riot mobs?

The mob leaders talk a good peace and friendship game, but, when it comes time to deliver, they never hold up their end of the bargain.

This idea ranks up there with giving reparations for an institution that was outlawed more then 150 years ago, (When I say "ranks up there" I mean on the stupid idea meter.)

I have not heard a single person that is calling for disbanding or defunding the police state a credible plan to enforce laws or keep the police. You think there are a lot of murders now in this country now? Wait until this becomes the return of the wild west nation wide.

The idea is not to be equally protected as the criminals. The idea is to be better protected.

    And?

Despite your out of context single tweet references the fact remains...

When the police disarmed they were not attacked.

    You lose again.

Not sure how you think an office wearing a vest, carrying a sidearm, a nightstick, and armed with mace and pepper spray and with dozens if not hundreds of counterparts dressed the same is not already more protected.

    Perhaps you could explain?

The police weren't attacked, because it was broad daylight and the leftist mob rioters are cowards.

The leftists mob calls for peace all day, and they wait until it's dark to launch their sneak attacks.
    Because that's what cowards do.

Get back to me when the cops have MBT, and artillery support. Until then they aren't militarize. I want cops in the best available a cop well protected against pistol fire is a cop less likely to respond instantly and wrongly to a perceived threat. Another second to make the decision and Tamir Rice might still be alive.

When the police disarmed...no one attacked...on either side

    That's the lesson.

Attacks on police is a reaction not a provocation.

The police did not dress for war with the lockdown protests...NO VIOLENCE

    That's the lesson.

    Violent suppression never works.

This is a photo of protesters observing the anniversary of Tiananmen Square.
DESPITE the threat of violence from the Chinese government.
    You can kill a person
But you cannot kill an idea

    That's the lesson.

Was there a police presence when all the looting and destruction was taking place?

Yeah, I'd say about 10 ft away.
But then those people are White
So we don't see guns, pepper spray, and dogs

    But not here it seems...

Of course the answer is yes. But that presence stopped nothing.

These people are insane anarcho-communists, common criminals, and useful idiots. It would take a lifetime of talking and listening to reform them.

Based in signs (and I admit that's not a great method of determining policy) "Defund the Police" seems the most popular one, at least as far as an actual policy goes. "End Hate," and "Stop Racism" are not really policy programs, but defunding the police is actually something a city could do.

You shouldn't talk about the police that way.

I think they're overwhemingly people of good intent stuck in a horribly racist system.

    Try showing some understanding.

YES, defund the police, and limit their mandate. They should not respond as social workers, or mental health workers. Time we spurn the REAGAN philosophy of doing away with all professionals, and have cops do the dirty work. That is where it started.

Why don't we try it out in Boston, Portland ME, New York, Chicago, LA, San Fran, Portland OR and Seattle. Let's see how that works out.

BS. 200 wounded 6 killed. No one with hands feet or teeth is ever disarmed. Maybe if the rioters would quit throwing fire bombs and bricks the police wouldn't feel the need to go armed.
