First off Corey Booker is a lying fraud.Like Obama he never
came within a country mile of any Hood, growing up.
And to hear him tell it as MAYOR of Newark { One of the most
violent cities in the Country at one time } as to witnessing crime,
he comes off as almost Insane.
When he became Mayor his first Priority was to reduce the city's
crime rate. And Increase the Police force. So he knows better.

There have been police departments here in the USA since 1844 when the first one was established in NY City, and I fully expect there still will be long after we are all gone.

I believe not everyone the police interact with is a criminal, and there is no reason for them to act as if they were. Their us vs them attitude is bad for us and for them.

I do not believe every cop I see is a racist so folks should not act as if they are.

A tiny percent of encounters with the police end badly. Most of them justified.

Democrats social programs are the reason their cities are overrun by sub human predators. Their solution is to do more of it. Vote Republican or kiss Rosy Futures goodbye.

I am all for the idea of reallocating resources. There is still a need for 'police', but if the funding was spread out to include professionals who are properly trained to respond to overdoses and family disputes, police would then be left to do what they should be doing - law enforcement. It has worked in Camden and Compton.

Obviously not by the cowardly gun owners who claim to need their guns to defend against government oppression but in the face of real government oppression hid in their basements watching NRA videos telling them how brave they are and that they need some more guns.

I think real solution could be a combination of things - abolishing police unions is 1 big item. Another is elimination of all victimless crime. Cops, if they are allowed to bargain, should not be able to use these bargaining powers to shield other officers from disciplinary actions and cops should only be involved with preventing crime or reacting to a crime. Cops should not be involved with people trying to buy sex from willing prostitutes and they should not be involved if someone is buying/selling drugs as there is no real victims to these scenarios.

The first progressive PD was created in the UK by Robert Peel. British subjects could carry guns then and the police could not. Very low crime.

So, you support militarizing the police and disarming the people who are targeted for persecution.
That was a primary mission of the KKK.

Try that again- unarmed bobbies walking around wearing goofy hats. Let me know how that works out in the American ghettos.

And you support defunding the police and arming the people who assassinate them, riot, burn down buildings, rape, murder and loot.

That was a primary mission of the Black Panthers.

I disagree. Any local community has the absolute right to decide what they want the police to do and how they want them to go about it. They work for us, not the other way around. This idiotic failure of a drug war has been used by local, state and federal police departments to constantly violate and circumvent the Bill of Rights. It seems that all US police departments train their personnel to try to find a reason to shake down any motorist pulled over for a minor traffic violation and search his/her person and rummage through their vehicle without a warrant. Our insane courts have ruled that any police agency can confiscate money and other valuable items without even arresting or charging a person then making him prove where he got the money. (If that isn’t alarming I don’t know what is) We have highway patrol units roving around on our interstates all over the country acting as highway robbers right now. It is high time that we pull the reigns back on these entities. They are smugly running around this country acting like they own the place and that we the people are here to cow tow to them. It’s about time they are made to realize which side of the counter they are on.

If you defund, that means no money for law enforcement. That would leave only vigilantes or some kind of neighborhood police force which would be unpaid.

The rest of your post amounts to nothing more than raving.

I have been driving for around sixty seven years. I guess during that period I have been stopped a dozen times or so for speeding. Maybe half of those ended up as a ticket. In none of those was my vehicle ever searched or I thought my stop was unjustified. The closest I came was driving very early one morning across Kansas. I was pulled over for speeding going through a small town. While the officer was checking my license, insurance and registration, I asked if he would mind if I went to the back of my car and got a coke out of the cooler. He said go ahead, but would I mind if he watched. I said I did not mind. I got out my coke and he let me go on my way without a ticket. He indicated that they got a lot of early morning traffic from people running drugs.
