Some may listen to facts. You won’t because you deny science. You are on record opposing mask usage where most transmission is taking place. Here is one instance where you oppose such use and provide misinformation to support your opposition.
You are clearly on record as anti mask.

I’ve repeatedly told you few will self quarantine. I said it would be nice if you were physically and emotionally capable of doing so. Then we could end this thing. But you aren’t even capable of wearing a mask where it would have the greatest mitigating effect on the pandemic.

Oh, I never said anything about staying indoors for a month. LOL

I do agree with what you are saying. But in the middle of a pandemic, this civics education won't produce fast results, if any, so I was merely thinking of a way to see if people might behave differently. I do believe that the odds that we'll get them to change behavior by decree is pretty much zero. I've seen people who enter a store and don a facemask because they know they'll be kicked out if they don't, but then, make a point of allowing the mask to slide below the nose just out of spite and to show that they are not "sheeple" etc.

So, I'd favor a different approach...

And yes, they are jeopardizing the community, not just themselves, which is why in my little paragraph I said "you, your loved ones, and your community."

Teaching them medical science isn't going to work, either - even if you got them ALL through medical school in a month.

Your solution absolutely FAILS to address ALL the situations where there has to be a group decision in order for there to be ANY affect.

The thing is, these decisions have to be made as policy decisions regarding the many factors that affect people in groups.

Each of these group activities include factors that are NOT medical. They have different levels of being required (like grocery stores and public transit). They have different propensities for close contact. Etc., etc.

In every one of those cases there has to be ONE solution. If not, then it just degrades to the worst behavior.

We have qustions like when/how to start education - a case where being open means that teachers, school support personel and others are REQUIRED to be exposed.

What happened at meat packing plants is a crystal clear example. The management clearly didn't give a CRAP about the lives of their employees, so whole communities became infected and people died.

You can not claim that meat packers didn't know the risk. They got exceptional time from CDC and OSHA - close discussions with manaement at various levels, explaining the risk, ways of limiting the risk, etc. You can NOT expect the general public, all these antiMask *******s, etc., to get that kind of attention.

The same goes for EVERY case where groups are involved.

Your idea simply ignores that we are a civilzation, and that in NUMEROUS cases our safety DEPENDS on decisions made concerning behavior that can affect others. This is absolutely NOT limited to COVID.

What people need to take a class in is civics. We can ALL be doctors and that doesn't mean that we no longer need goernnment involvement in safety in medicine.

So, you think you can't catch a variant if you've already had COVID-19? Is that your claim?

The logic of using high-quality respirators is slowly catching on. I expect we'll have shortages soon enough.

I follow the Science. There is not evidence of it happening.... it would be cowardly to be scared over such an massive outlier situation with a 99.96% survivability rate.

Good. Then you shouldn’t have a problem with me correcting misinformation. :)
Can you explain why places with mask mandates and lockdowns still had exponential infection rates?
You are correct. I do not have you on record and shouldn’t assume things just because your position seems similar to other posters on record as being anti mask. I apologize.

Let’s try this. Do you recommend people wear masks where the average person is most likely to be infected or infect another person? Do you know where most transmission is taking place?
What’s BS? I certainly did say in this thread states should address these issues.
Well, if you can’t mount an intellectual response it’s not BS. It’s the truth you can’t accept.
No evidence? You are the one who wants people who won’t wear a mask in public to go away. Are you willing to call those who wear masks recommend by experts uncivilized? Are you willing to take action against people who don’t wear masks in places transmission is most common? I’m just responding to your posts by asking clarifying questions. If it’s BS it’s based on your content.
LOL. I think you are the uninformed party here. If you want N95 masks you can have all you want.

This company has 30 million US manufactured N95’s it can’t find buyers for.

You guys will believe anything media tells you without question. I’ve been hyping Clinical Supply (link above) as a reliable, fast, affordable source for N95’s for some time.

They are everywhere, my man. Hospitals are still short because they are too stubborn to buy American. Don’t be stubborn. Buy and use a real mask. They are readily available and media and political misinformation has snookered you again. :)

Agreed. Not even at the peak of the shortage, I failed to find legitimate N95 masks to purchase. When my hospital didn't have enough, I was still able to find them for me and my wife. There wasn't a single day in this pandemic when I didn't have a fresh N95 mask to wear. You just need to know how to find them. I never posted links here like you're doing because I was afraid that moderators would interpret it as spam. But by private message I always told people who asked me, where to buy them.

There was a method that allowed me to find them even at the peak of the shortage.

    1. Go to the CDC/NIOSH list of approved manufacturers of legitimate N95 masks
    2. Look up their proprietary websites, one by one - no third party vendors (risk of counterfaiting) but directly from the source
    3. Verify if they have N95 masks in stock and are selling to individuals (rather than only selling in bulk to corporations or governmental entities)
    4. Once #3 gets located, order from more than one of them, because with production and delivery delays, you'd get some of them earlier and some later

So, they were always available. What varied was the price gouging, how long it took me to explore different vendors to find them, and whether they were made abroad or in the USA.

Therefore when the scarcity was at peak I was only able to get very expensive masks made abroad and it took me a while to find them. When the scarcity eased a bit, I got smaller prices for American-made masks and it was easier to find them. But they were ALWAYS available.

I was even able to find for my wife, a sizable supply of US-made 3M 1860s, the Cadillac or all N95s (surgical quality, a bit smaller to fit her smaller face). She still has quite a number of them, and loves them. It's her preferred mask.

    https://www.3m.com/3M/en_LB/p//d/v000057463/

It is true that some websites only sell to medical professionals. I had to provide my NPI number and upload a copy of my wallet-size medical license and hospital badge to be approved as a buying customer. But while I'd prefer the ones only sold to doctors (guaranteed quality, often better prices) in my explorations I always found those that could be bought by anybody, which I'd recommend to non-medical friends.

By the way, I was also able to purchase 3M N100s made in their factory in Peru. These were only available to doctors at the time. At one point, though, I was able to find a link to a business that was selling them (for a higher price) to non-medical people. I passed it on to a friend. I didn't write it down.

The bottom line is, people who wanted advanced protection could have it, as long as they were persistent and could afford it. I advocated here from the beginning for people to wear better masks. Not many listened. A few did and I was happy to send them some links by private message.

    More crap from you!
    You wrote
That was your great plan. You're living in a dream world.

As for wearing a mask at home, more crap from you. If you know you are infected quarantine yourself away from household members, don't think that wearing a mask will be sufficient. A local couple followed that, they both died.

But then again, you are the one on record who thinks that the negatives of wearing a mask outweigh the positives - great advert from you to encourage others to wear a mask!

What I wrote is a fact. That’s how authoritarian countries put the screws to the pandemic. We could have voluntarily done it here or by force—if citizens were prepared. The problem is citizens live hand to mouth (that’s how our society is designed intentionally) and government isn’t capable of supplying the citizens with necessities either. Imagine FEMA trying to get food to the whole country when they regularly botch small disaster response. :)

This will likely be a news flash for you since your sources of information don’t really care about your well being. But extreme social distancing is the best way to protect yourself, others, and end pandemics. :)

Of course empirical evidence is crap to you. You are clearly on record in that regard.
It’s a year into the pandemic and you think mask wearing is only to prevent known infected persons from infecting others? For real? Surely you jest. Thanks for going on record again as being anti science and anti mask in the situations where most transmission occurs. People like you are driving infection rates because you deny science every day.
Oh, yes, there is grave danger in the negatives outweighing the positives. Absolutely. Science is quite clear on this. Even your boy Fauci got that one right back in March!

Enjoy your pandemic my friend with your full hospitals, risk of infection, and the guilt you feel of chancing infection of society and your loved ones by refusing to protect them. Enjoy your sub par homemade mask that does little to protect you. Enjoy the uncertainty and fear that leads you to deny science to assuage that fear in little ways.

I’ll be here living a normal life with minuscule risk to myself and causing no potential harm for others waiting for you all to get your acts together. Oh, and I’ll be correcting your misinformation so people who do want to take charge of their own lives have good information available to guide their choices on the path to peace and safety.

    Cheers.

It seems they just want Americans to get used to government mandates because there will be more coming under the rule of the "Biden Crime Family".

Infection numbers based on PCR tests are utterly unreliable and grossly inaccurate. PCR = coin toss, as Elon Musk demonstrated.

Heads you have it, tails you don't.

Discussion based upon such wildly inaccurate numbers are not really rational public dialogue.

I remember you posting about available good quality masks and understand why you didn’t post links. I also remember people thanking you for sharing your sources. At this point I am so tired of misinformation I am willing to risk the moderators wrath by posting links. This nonsense about mask shortages has killed thousands, it has to end.

    Excellent advice.
I understand cost is an issue for many people. I don’t think it is for many here though based on comments people make about their financial position. There is no excuse for these people to be wearing or recommending homemade and sud standard purchased masks. More below on cost...
Some of the sources I came across were wholesale or medical suppliers only. This is where cost, the Biden administration and buy America comes in. If Biden is legit he should purchase these millions of masks in inventory and make them affordable to the masses. Trump was criticized for mask shortages, here’s Biden’s chance to shine.
Yes you have been the number one reliable mask information and supply guy. The busy doc who took time to help others anonymously. I know a lot of people here appreciate it.

In my opinion, it’s way past time for the CDC etc. to change their position. There is no Trump excuse now. Trump can’t fire anybody or pressure anybody. Masks are there for the buying. It’s time for government to stop the misinformation and act if they want to retain any shred of credibility (with me anyway, it looks like many will bow at government’s feet no matter how incompetent or corrupt it is).

    /rant off :)

Not only are you naive, you also cannot comprehend English . I'm still waiting for you to explain how you would implement your great plan being that the population will voluntarily stay at home for a month or could be forced to stay at home for a month. Where is your paper on this and how are you going to get it to the masses? Which bit of "If you know you are infected quarantine yourself away from household members, don't think that wearing a mask will be sufficient." did you not understand? But hey, you have been wearing a high quality mask every minute of the day and night for the last 12 months all the time you have been inside, and you think we believe you

Why are you and @557 at each other's throats? You are both good guys and good posters. Can't you guys reset and restart from a more civil standpoint? You are both accusing the other of being clueless. You aren't clueless, and neither is 557.

You clearly have a disagreement about at-home mask use. Maybe you should agree to disagree on this, but remain civil and respectful to the other's opinion.

Well, I'm not a moderator here, but I do like both you and 557, so, I find that it is kind of a pity that the two of you are having this mud-slinging match, so that's why I'm trying to reason with you a bit.

You have that right. There is going to be many more draconian acts the Leftists attempt to force on the populace. When the people finally snap and have had enough, it's going to get ugly.

That would be a MASSIVE outlier to an already 99.96%+ survivable virus. To fear that event is pure cowardice.

Hi 557. As Centerfield has written how about we forget about what's been said in the past and just agree to disagree? We are not actually that far apart in our opinions

Egads. The death rate is much higher than 0.04% for seniors, and the incidence of long-term consequences is reasonably high for adults.

Ad for getting it from a variant after you already had it...
