When Florida threw open the door for seniors to get COVID-19 vaccines, hundreds camped out overnight, some bundled up in lawn chairs in the January cold to score a shot.

Thousands more waited in digital lines for their number to come up in county-run vaccine pools.

But for some lucky Floridians, getting a vaccine was as easy as hopping in their golf carts and rolling down to the clubhouse.

The Republican governor of Florida has prioritized his donors to receive vaccination. That is just immoral. We know of at least two of these rich communities, in which DeSantis was personally involved in getting early vaccinations for his donors. The data is still coming in. There have been at least 150 of these exclusive communities that set up "popup clinics".

This is what Republican leaders think of you!

DeSantis makes no apology for what he's done and he's not alone. Several Governors have done the same thing.

When Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) unveiled a “pop-up” clinic offering coveted coronavirus vaccines in an affluent, mostly White part of Manatee County, Fla., lawmakers on both sides of the aisle slammed the plan for excluding residents in the rest of the county.

But on Wednesday, the governor offered no apologies, warning that he could instead take the doses elsewhere.

If you want to vaccinate seniors, set up vaccination stations where the seniors are. Florida is a retirement mecca for seniors who concentrate in retirement communities. DeSantis was smart enough to prioritize seniors and focus on CONCENTRATIONS of seniors. IF more governors had focused on this “Republican thinking” rather than sending sick seniors back to care facilities which comprises Democratic thinking.

Are these clinics only open to the golf club members and yacht owners? Do you have to flash some gold or something?

Florida is ranked 39th in the US for Covid deaths even with spring break, bike week, and their racing venues.
Probably because DeSantis didn't mandate that senior facilities take infected patients and allow leftist idiots to riot and pillage his state for 8 months like 23 other high Covid death rate Democrat cities did

Democrats hate him because he has a better record on Covid so they continue to make up BS claims. But we are used to that.
When these leftist states can compare to Florida's success, let us all know. Until then its just more BS over their own miserable Covid death rates as the numbers all speak for themselves.

“60 Minutes should be ashamed”: Dem Palm Beach County mayor calls out Lying Slandering Fake News Scum CBS for smearing all around good guy, Ron DeSantis with Publix segment

“The reporting was not just based on bad information — it was intentionally false.”

They are lying propaganda scum in service of the Democrat Party.
You see, we have a split in the Democrat Party. On the one hand you have the rank and file and state and local democratic Democrats that value human rights, freedom, liberty and fair play, and on the other hand you have the lying slandering "woke" authoritarian Socialist Nazi liars that operate in the National Media, connected DC and at the higher levels of the DNC and inhabit the leadership of the Congress and the Administration.

The Propagandist Scum at 60 minutes also failed to disclose in their hatchet job that Publix donates to political entities on both sides. And $100,000 isn’t much by their standards:
Publix is indignant with the lying fake news 60 minute scum, naturally:

Though currently a company that leans toward Democrats, it probably time for them to take a step toward the Big Tent Republicans while maintaining their relationships with the democratic Democrats and cutting all times with the Authoritarian Democrats that have wrested control of the party from those more suited to leading it.

    A deeply socially responsible company:
For the lying scum of 60 minutes to LIE about such a fine company is greatly beyond the pale. What kind of twisted up weirdos do they have at CBS that they would stoop to this kind of slander just because they fear that the very capable, experience and well spoke Ron Desantis is going to whip Declining Joe and Kackling Kamala in 2024?

Are these vile slandering Fake News Sccum at 60 "Lies A" Minute going to correct or “clarify” this segment next week? It’s always difficult to get the Lying Fake News media to fess up to outright lying twice as hard when the target is a major Republican antagonist poised to kick their asses in the next election.

There is no place in Florida that I know of where seniors are lacking. You can pick just about any city in Florida, and you'll find far more seniors that don't live in gated communities than those who do. The difference is that those who don't are less likely to contribute to Desantis.

Spoken like a true Marie Antoinette fan: If they can't get a shot at their FEMA station, let them buy a house at the golf club!

Sure... seniors that contribute to his campaign.

I hope you realize that your post is one of the most absurd and elitist responses one could ever hope to find in this forum.

Yes! That's why they're called "gated communities". Because there is a gate! And a big armed guard or two making sure that any senior who lives on Social Security won't get in and take the vaccines they paid their governor to secure for them.

It is beyond disgusting! This is what Republicans are voting for. I'm genuinely perplexed as to why anybody who is not enormously rich could vote for dishonest creeps like Desantis who will stab them in the back first chance he gets.

No. Because Florida has a sub-tropical climate, so those activities are outdoors. 39th is a terrible stat for Florida. You are comparing Florida with states that have large concentrations of the population having to endure heavy cold weather.

Stop it. Golem, you are not the least bit perplexed by this. You are too well read to even make such a claim.

I only know of two Republicans that can afford to be in the "in crowd" and those are my former in-laws. Every other one I know is dirt poor and only care about abortion rights and the 2nd Amendment. I have given up trying to explain to them that they are voting against their own best interests. They simple don't give a d*mn. You can't tell me that some people here didn't vote for Trump solely because he said a woman should suffer some kind of punishment for having an abortion. And, the rest just care about having their arsenals.

Ok... so I'm not even perplexed anymore ;-). But I should be. The fact that I'm not is alarming to me.

Not to mention those who love him for torturing refugees.

What nonsense. Florida and California are the two states with the highest number of gated communities.

Florida happens to be the home of protected roaming dinosaurs that eat small dogs and children. People like being walled away from them...

I am comparing Florida with those states that allowed hundreds of thousands of leftist idiots to riot, protest, and burn their cities for 8 months
I am comparing Florida to idiotic Mayors and Governors who refused to put down these riots
I am comparing Florida to dumbasses who would mandate senior faculties taking Covid infected patients
I am comparing Florida to the individuals preferring to live in a paradyme of fear who love to be told what to do.
I am comparing Florida to the 23 Democrat controlled states who claim to have Covid death numbers that are 15 times higher than anyone else on the glode

Florida, the 3rd largest populated state, has no mask mandates and is 39th in Covid deaths because they are sub-tropical and all their activities are outside? lol, Thats pretty lame given the fact that those same spring breakers, Bikers, and race fans are hanging out by the tens of thousands in restaurants, bars, convention centers, hotels, and tourist traps. Those are all indoor events.
So much for your sub-tropical outdoor theory.

The difference is that they aren't concentrated in an area and are more difficult to serve. Those seniors can go somewhere to get vaccinated like I did. Instead of throwing stones for no reason other than partisanship, why not throw some suggestions on how to do it better.

According to who? I noticed you didn't provide any links to verify these claims which means, you really don't know anything but are willing to post leftist propaganda.

So, since in Florida you didn't have all those riots, following your "logic", we should have less cases. Which is my point.

I appreciate your help in making it.

In Florida they are concentrated in EVERY area. And they are very easy to serve.

I can tell you one thing: people who live in gated communities would have the same difficulty going to the same vaccination places where seniors who didn't went, the same difficulty getting an appointment, the same difficulty having to stay in line for hours to get it, and they could get just as sick ...

The ONLY thing they did not have in common is that the ones in gated community are the biggest Desantis donors.

As a matter of fact, those who live in gated community are usually 100% retired. They don't have Walmart greeters, or people who have to stand in food lines, or ride in buses to get from A to B, or who would be exposed every day, like many seniors who don't live in a gated community did.

Please don't try to make up excuses for Desantis. This is yet another example of corrupt and incompetent Republicans.

For someone who claims to use logic, research and reason you sure jump to partisan political tripe quickly. Not to mention attacking the poster rather than the post.

This thread has NOTHING to do with Publix. I haven't even heard anything about Publix.

This is about gated communities. Focus!

Desantis is a dishonest creep who has used the pandemic to his political benefit by using his power to protect the "donor class", instead of the majority of citizens of Florida. And people know this. Even Florida conservative radio-shows have criticized him for this. He doesn't care. He thinks he can be re-elected by just his donors and Trump cultists in the state (forum rules require me to clarify that I am not necessarily referring to anybody in this forum), of which there are many... but dwindling both in number and enthusiasm.

That is simply not true. You know better than that.

    Sure. And your point?

I like when you capitalize things that point out your hyperbole and ignorance of the truth. The truth is you don't know any Florida seniors voted.

I suspect you don't know this is true either. At least you didn't capitalize anything.

I haven't made up any excuses for DeSantis. Nor have I attacked him for things I could not possibly know.

Absolutely true! Where are there few elderly people in Florida? In any case, there are enough concentrations of elderly all over the state to throw away this excuse you are trying to push.

I will never be able to understand why Republicans feel this urge to defend even the most indefensible behavior among their leaders, only because they see an R next to their name.

Just admit it! It is clearly immoral for the governor to allow this to happen just because it was politically convenient for him.
