This situation illustrates what I have been saying all along---we need better laws regarding mentally ill people. I mean the family reported him and the authorities took away his gun but he was still allowed to roam the streets until he got another gun.

Is it a gun that he already had that they didn't know about? Was he able to purchase another one? Did someone purchase it for him? Did he borrow it? Did he steal it?

That's just an ignant assessment to thinkbelieve people actually believe that is "exercising a right " like the second amendment.

Is that what you and your ilk thinkbelieve?

Do you and your ilk thinkbelieve that those that rob liquor stores are "exercising their right" to be a "customer"?

Do you and your ilk thinkbelieve that robbing a bank makes one a "depositor" just "exercising their right" to "make a withdrawal"?

I don't know where he got this gun. What I read was that I think it was his mom reported him last year. Authorities confiscated gun he had at that time (may have been a shotgun I don't recall all the details) and put him in the nuthouse for a bit and then he was released back onto the streets.

Who was President when Paddock massacred 60 people in Las Vegas?

And nothing ever came of it. The investigation was dropped in short order and they never found out exactly why he did what he did, or how he got all of those guns and ammo into the hotel with no one noticing....

    Really? Wow.:bored:

I have no idea what you are talking about.

    And, I have no "ilk".

And, what is this word "ignant"?

    Is that Ebonics?

I guess we will just have to agree to disagree.

    Carry on.:roflol::bored:

And, back to the actual topic, the perp seemed like a tragically mixed-up kid.

Once again, the FBI fails. Just like with the guy that shot up the supermarket in Colorado...

You previously stated that a licensed gun owner in Australia had to keep ammo and firearms locked separately. If a home invasion occurs do you then request the criminal to pause while you unlock your guns and ammo and then load your gun?

Perhaps the FBI dropped the ball on a NICS check like they have done before.

Given the number of mass killings each year and the number of guns in U.S., it's obvious that this means doesn't work.

Twenty million people this year alone have demonstrated they disagree. Record sales in 2020.

    How many new owners?

For 30 years, the same 40% have been buying guns.

I'm pretty sure the ghetto gangbangers in Chicago and Detroit aren't members of the NRA. There has not been a single mass shooter that was a member of the NRA. Ever.

You ever hear of a mass shooting victim found dead with a gun? Something not used will never work.

And you can't tell me that quite a few people who have a basement full of machine guns aren't just salivating at the thought of a zombie apocalypse or whatever similar they might conjure up someday.

No one has a basement full of machine guns, or even a single machine gun. Fully auto guns cost around $30,000 each and are usually only sold to licensed class 3 dealers or collectors....
