NRA THIS! The sins if the NRA are abundant. You just don't wish to recognize that sad fact. Here's one that is making the headlines: NRA lawsuit: who are the four leaders accused of corruption? Excerpt: 'Nuff said ... ? Or do you need more? There's more ...
Sadly guns are used in over 10,000 murders and 20,000 suicides each year in USA alone. This is very sad.
Never forget 572,000 people who died by guns in USA 1999-2016. RIP murder victims. RIP suicide perpetrators.
https://gunmagwarehouse.com/blog/legally-owned-automatic-weapons-crime/ My bad, not dorner, another cop. In the first instance, in September 1988 Dayton, Ohio police department Patrolman Roger Waller, then 32, used his fully automatic MAC-11 .380 caliber submachine to kill a police informant. It must be noted that Patrolman Waller was only able to acquire the firearm because he was a police officer and it is unclear if he actually had a transfer stamp for it.4 If the weapon was produced after May 1986 only a police officer (or class III dealer) would be able to own it. In the second instance, in April 2002, police officer Edward Lutes of Dover, New Jersey used his police-issue Heckler & Koch MP5 to kill five of his neighbors. He subsequently took his own life with his handgun. It absolutely must be noted that New Jersey does not allow citizens, apart from law enforcement, to own a machine gun, but also that the submachine gun used in this heinous crime was issued to Lutes by his police department. A third instance cited by various sources involved an on-duty sailor who shot three people with his M4 Carbine at Pearl Harbor last December.4 As noted previously, in all three of these cases it can hardly be said that a legally owned machine gun or automatic weapon was used by a civilian in a crime. In at least one of the cases, the police officer used his police-issue weapon, while in the case of the U.S. Navy sailor it was also with a weapon issued to him by the military. We can only speculate how Patrolman Waller obtained his weapon.
THE SINE-QUA-NON OF HUMAN EXISTENCE Bollocks. A study was done in the the 1980s - here is its conclusion by the prof who wrote it: The Influence of Gun Availability on Violent Crime Patterns There is no way to copy and paste the the article here - it's date goes back so far the article remains to be computer read-and-codified in Internet-language. I found nonetheless an abstract of the book underlining its conclusions, which goes like this: Now, I am waiting from you the results of a prodigious study (performed since this one above) the findings of which contradict absolutely the above conclusion. By showing the murderous-consequences to public gun-availability and yet they believe nonetheless that they have no influence whatsoever on the consequences of "death, robbery and assault rates" .... The brainless-twits who believe the above are married to guns. So, any detailed research in to the matter does not phase them in least. Nor the assemblage of data since the 1980s stating the harm guns do. For numb-skulls, it's all pure BS. As the saying goes, Dumb is as dumb does ... There is only one solution. Confiscate all automatic weapons and leave allowed only non-automatic weapons for hunting. France has done this and the personal usage of guns to kill one another has nearly vanished in France. For which, I will remain eternally grateful since I live in "hunting country" where, strangely, people hunt for 6-weeks a year in the Spring and find that sufficient ...
what sort of weapons will you need to enforce your silly gun bans. You should be leading the charge to confiscate the automatic weapons that have never been used for any violent crime in over 6 decades. I look forward to seeing you running up my driveway
Here you go: https://hwfo.substack.com/p/everybodys-lying-about-the-link-between The facts are quite clear that there are no such consequences. Those people would be just as dead if they were killed with knives instead of with guns. The US placed heavy restrictions on full-auto weapons nearly 90 years ago.
Statistics show that gun availability has little impact on homicide rates. These people would be just as dead if they were murdered with knives. I would not object to a system for suicidal people to voluntarily turn their guns over to friends and family for safekeeping until they are better. Voluntary only however.
1) UK has a knife violence problem. But UK has lower murder rate then USA. 2) Most suicidal people are not sane enough to take rational steps.
Human Lives are Precious -- Humans have G-dly Soul. The loss of over 20,000 lives to gun suicide in USA alone is a tragedy.
It's simply not your choice. If you believe suicides would decrease if no gun is available I present Japan's Suicide Forest as an example how that belief would be wrong.
No sane person would subject themselves to the penalty for suicide. As a Jew I believe this penalty is finite in time.
Suicide can not be stopped, but it can be greatly reduced. 1) Welfare State. 2) Free mental care for all in need. 3) Gun ban.
Not really. Those people would be just as dead if they were killed with a different kind of weapon. Having a strong social safety net reduces poverty and the violence that comes with it. That's a shame, but our freedom is worth the costs. A program for suicidal people to voluntarily turn their guns over to friends or relatives for safekeeping may not save all of those lives, but it would save some of them.
Most attempted murders and attempted suicides with knives would not succeed. Thus the victims would more likely be injured then killed.
That is incorrect. Statistics are clear that gun availability has little impact on homicide rates. The costs are perfectly reasonable. Our freedom is well worth it. However, that number can be reduced with a program that allows suicidal people to voluntarily turn their guns over to friends or family for safekeeping until they get better.
It is very difficult to commit suicide or murder with a knife. Guns do contribute to higher lethality of violence.
