All of this nonsense about "Democrats stole the election" is a lie perpetrated by Donald Trump. Donald Trump, by haranguing his base, for months on end, that 'The only way Democrats can win is if they rigged the election", and on and on and on, Trump has undermined confidence in American democracy unlike any president has ever done in history, and, as such, is serious threat to American national security.

When viewed in context, over the months, how he whipped up his base into a frenzy, whereupon his speech, view in isolation, appears innocent enough, but when his actions are weighed over a period of time, the horror of January 6 comes into clear focus regarding his responsibility for it.

This report, led by REPUBLICANS in Michigan, debunks numerous conspiracy theories perpetrated by Trump minions.

    https://www.nytimes.com/2021/06/23/us/politics/michigan-2020-election.html

A committee led by Michigan Republicans on Wednesday published an extraordinary debunking of voter fraud claims in the state, delivering a comprehensive rebuke to a litany of accusations about improprieties in the 2020 election and its aftermath.

The 55-page report, produced by a Michigan State Senate committee of three Republicans and one Democrat, is a systematic rebuttal to an array of false claims about the election from supporters of former President Donald J. Trump. The authors focus overwhelmingly on Michigan, but they also expose lies perpetuated about the vote-counting process in Georgia.

The report is unsparing in its criticism of those who have promoted false theories about the election. It debunks claims from Trump allies including Mike Lindell, the chief executive of MyPillow; Rudolph W. Giuliani, the former president’s lawyer; and Mr. Trump himself.

The Voter Integrity Project, a right-wing group, has said that 289,866 “illegal votes” were cast in Michigan. The report’s authors called 40 people from the group’s list of supposed voters who received absentee ballots without requesting them and found just two who said they had been sent unrequested ballots. One was on the state’s permanent absentee voter list. The other voted absentee in the 2020 primary election and may have forgotten about checking a box then to request an absentee ballot in the general election.

While Mr. Trump claimed that more votes had been cast in Detroit than people who live there, the report found that turnout in the city was under 50 percent of eligible voters and about 37 percent of its population.

No ballots were secretly “dumped” at the Detroit vote-counting center. “A widely circulated picture in media and online reports allegedly showed ballots secretly being delivered late at night but, in reality, it was a photo of a WXYZ-TV photographer hauling his equipment,” the report states.

And the report goes on from there.

Use a different browser, the NYT will allow a few free looks and if you have a less often used browser, ( such as firefox ) cookies will give you a freebie. NYTimes articles, being one of the four journals of record, are often reprinted, so google the title, and see if TheHill or Yahoo News reprinted the story.

    I found this:

    https://nationworldnews.com/michigan-republican-debunks-voter-fraud-claims-in-unsparing-report/

To be an informed citizen, one should subscribe to one's favorite journal or journals, but include in the mix at least one of the four journals of record.

    The NYTimes
    Washington Post
    Wall Street Journal
    Los Angeles Times.

The two most widely circulated and quoted journals are the first two, which is why I subscribed to both.

How do they know this without a signature verification audit?

Trump's conspiracy theory has been debunked again and again by Republicans. Which doesn't mean that his QAnon-level cult followers (not referring to anybody in this forum. I'm pretty sure nobody here stoops to that level, right?) will ever stop claiming that Biden "stole the elections". There is absolutely nothing anybody can say or do, no facts, no investigation, ... absolutely nothing, that would convince a cult follower that their cult leader lied. Trump cultists will believe Trump even if he asked them to stand in line with their children to taste his new flavor of Kool-aid.

It is almost scary how many people think everything should be free. Before the internet did you whine about paying for a newspaper?

The problem (for Repubs) isn't voter fraud, it's voter turnout.

Here's the thing though. Since Repubs pay no political price for spinning lies about fraud (which have all been debunked) they have essentially come out ahead. Because McTurtle will not allow S-1 to pass so the voter suppression laws will remain on the books. Combine that with gerrymandering........... https://twitter.com/thehill/status/1405912329129185284

and the anti-democratic POT may take back control of Congress.

Except this is the first massive mail in voting election. So to compare it to others is at BEST disingenuous.

The relevant part of the story is the portion quoted.

But this is what I am referring to: there is no amount of investigations or facts that would convince a c... uhm... core Trump loyalist, not only that there was no significant voter fraud, but that these were likely one of the cleanest and most properly managed elections in decades.

Except a full signature verification audit of AT LEAST one county.

But you all can’t tolerate that for some reason.

I don't believe there was enough fraud to change the election. However, that does not excuse having a link which you are required to pay for.

The WORST way to convince someone that there was no fraud is to fight and obstruct and smear requests and attempts at audits. Just makes it look like the powers that be have something to hide.

In Georgia's case, they DID have things to hide.

Multiple states have had almost exclusive mail in voting for a decade or more. Yet you folks never whined about them until a certain person lost an election and you just cannot accept that loss

    From your own link....

The public emergence of the Jones report Thursday doesn't confirm enough suspect votes to overturn Georgia's election results, or prove a plot to commit widespread ballot fraud. But its portrait of incompetence, mismanagement and bad election processes in Georgia's largest voting center undercuts claims by state officials that the election went swimmingly.

Raffensperger told Just the News he supports the ouster of Fulton County's top election officials but still trusts the outcome of the election showing Joe Biden beat Donald Trump.

"It is no secret that Fulton has had issues in their elections department for decades, which is why I insisted on a state monitor being present to be eyes and ears on the ground," he said.
