Well then how do you justify killing plants to eat them?

I start by not going around saying I honour the Ten Commandments.

Your #120 suggests you claim to do just that.

Post number 120 does not claim that I honour the Ten Commandments.

    Slainte!
Jesus is in favour of wine!
Those who are against wine think that they are better than Jesus?
    That is wrong!

I read about a monk in Mount Athos that everyone felt was going to hell since he was drunk all the time. Well he died, and to their surprise, it turned out he had all the attributes required for sanctity such as his body being incorrupt and so on and so forth. I forgot why he was drunk all the time, but there was a story behind it.

It's because some ethnicities have a tendency towards alcoholism like the American natives, Japanese, Irish, etc., so they feel it's best to avoid it. I guess the Arabs do, otherwise why would it be part of their faith?

And I was an atheist when young and grew spiritually into a most devout Christian. The way I see it is that you lost that which I gained.

    When Satan Reigns
    [IMG]
    Whatever's false they'll say it's true
and throw the lies back onto you.

And what is right they'll say it's wrong.
Then woe to all, it won't be long.

When everyone will wear a frown.
For what is 'up', they'll call it 'down'.

Then try to make the day a night

so dark can reign, without the light - Jeannette

I know that monks will not kill anything that cries, and I can understand that. I love lamb and I'm starting to feel very guilty about eating it.

Fish don't cry, and chickens just run around with their heads cut off. Yet a doctor told our Orthodox Saint Porpherios to leave Mount Athos because he was sick and he had to eat meat.

Technically EVERYONE is BORN an atheist.

They are INDOCTRINATED into religions at an early age.

Nowadays it is not uncommon for atheist parents to raise atheist children.

I agree that it is the "Quack religious groups" who - like Islam- forbid alcohol. In Christianity these are the fundmentalists - Mormons and Witnesses the same.

These "Quack" religious groups have gone so far as to change the most holy of rituals - Holy Communion. One time when I questioned a fundamentalist on this .. they claimed that Jesus did not turn the water into wine .. that it was non alcoholic grape juice.

Patent nonsense .. Murder - by definition is killing of a human - not a cow.

The claim that "thou shalt not kill" applied to Cows .. is abject nonsense on steroids.

    Are you another hypocrite Christian?
You want to falsely ‘interpret’ the commandment to suit your stomach.

Only a moron thinks the command "Thou shalt not Kill" applies to plants and animals. How would a person survive without eating plants or animals ?

Only a moron can’t tell the difference between plants and animals.
You are already changing your tune from the commandment applying to humans, to now applying to plants and animals.
Maybe you are a Christian who dodges the 10 commandments.

    Or between animals and people.
    Acts 10
And he became very hungry, and would have eaten: but while they made ready, he fell into a trance,

11 And saw heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending upon him, as it had been a great sheet knit at the four corners, and let down to the earth:

12 Wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air.

13 And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill, and eat.

14 But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean.

15 And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.

16 This was done thrice: and the vessel was received up again into heaven.

Everything is relative. I mentioned the Irish because they had problems being hired in the US when they arrived because of drinking. I also know my friends parents wouldn't allow them to drink - and yet in Southern Europe they never had qualms about giving children wine and beer. Drinking there was never a problem.
