Democrats leading America into being a second class nation.

This is the name of the thread. Why do you believers in the almighty rights taking, overtaxing, savers if our universe democrats always have to bring Trump into the conversation?
It’s been argued on this forum since Trump took office what will happen when the democrats return to power. Now they are back in power and what we’ve been sayin will happen has happened. Yet you people continue to blame Trump cause the msm told you to.
The U.S. is going down hard and you can only continue to blame Trump for so long.

Yawn, another (to paraphrase) "Biden is the devil and is destroying America" thread. They are a dime a dozen these days. I guess the Fox News watchers need some outlet to spread their propaganda and find it here.

As to the premise of the thread. It is not the Democrats that are anti-science and anti-education, no, that would be the Trumpers. Instead of wanting to invest in the clean energies of the future, as China does, they want to bring us back into the coal-powered past.

In the meantime, while Americans are busy fighting over whether climate change is real or not, China installs almost as much new solar power generation capacity every year than the US has as a whole. Now, who do you think will be better off when energy prices keep climbing? China or the US? And all this because American rural conservatives, who have outsized voting power, want to keep living in the past.

City student passes 3 classes in four years, ranks near top half of class with 0.13 GPA

    https://foxbaltimore.com/news/proje...ars-ranks-near-top-half-of-class-with-013-gpa

Our schools are horrible. This school in question, Augusta Fells, has been investigated by “Project Baltimore“. Among their findings, principal paid 6 figures for failing school. Students passing/graduating who have less than a 1.0 GPA

    https://foxbaltimore.com/news/project-baltimore/ghost-student-scandal-hits-baltimore-city-schools

Ghost students enrolled bilking taxpayers for thousands.

“Project Baltimore went knocking on doors looking for the families of these ghost students.”

“As far as 2019, she was going none at all – to be honest,” said one parent.

“I don’t remember her going to school,” added another parent.

Another told us she was confident her daughter left the school system around 2017.

Fox45 News redacted the names of the students, but this document shows two students enrolled at Augusta Fells in 2019 hadn’t received a grade since the 2015-2016 school year. Another four students enrolled in 2019 hadn’t received grades since the 2016-2017 school year. One student spent five years in ninth grade, and another spent five years just in 12th grade. And the school likely received funding for all of them.

We found another student earned 44 credits in seven years at the school. You only need 21 to graduate. So why keep the student on the roll? The document even says, “explanation needed???”

The worst part, IMO, is we have a mayor who won’t address education or crime nor will he show up at town halls. When he was president of the city council, he said these issues were under the purview of the mayor’s office . Now that he’s the mayor, it’s the city council’s job. Baltimore is loosing its tax base, we have skyrocketing crime and nonexistent education, yet his main focus has been banning plastic bags and renaming holidays and parks.

Biden can invest in a hotdog unless we taxpayers foot the bill for it.. Strange how Democrats think Washington somehow generates revenue to work with ;)

While you do have a point, I think China's rise is utterly inevitable, regardless of who the US president is, and regardless of what party holds the White House. The maximum that we can do is delay it a little if the White House is very focused on it, but we won't stop it. By the way, if your focus is on Chinese scientific advances and America lagging behind, then you want a White House that values Science and the last guy definitely wasn't one of those.

The Federal government has little to no control over K-12 grade education which is controlled at the local school board level and through local real estate taxes. Wealthy high value real estate towns usually have very good teachers and education while their lower value real estate neighbors do not. You get what you are willing and able to pay for.

The last guy (Trump) did indeed value science as it was presented to him by Dr. Fauci, which led to the year long lockdown(s). How did Fauci's false science and flip-flopping on basically every warning he gave to us work out for America in general, or specifically?

This is one of those situations where shutting the barn door after the horses are gone fixes nothing.
Leadership requires many things, including foresight and vision, courage and wisdom.
The right choices for the future are usually not the popular choices for the moment, so they are very hard to sell to the people.
Too many politicians aren't willing to try- and find it easier to just tell people what they want to hear. Thus... the myopic vision wins.

Moral- Today is the tomorrow we failed to plan for yesterday.

America hasn't been willing to be a global competitor, it was always seen as unfair that some countries worked cheap. However, we were ready to accept cheap products from them, and over time transferred not only our purchasing dollars but our technology, designs, skills and manufacturing capacity to them- to the point that we destroyed the capacity to produce many of those products ourselves. That of course makes us dependent on the very people we gifted with all that so we could have cheaper goods.

While there are still some clothing manufacturers that produce here, they don't appeal to the masses because they are unable to compete in price. A genuinely American made pair of jeans sells at around $65 and up, while imported ones are $10-25. American brand names are higher, but Levi's, even the iconic 501's, Lee and Wrangler brands- are now all made offshore. Telephones, TV's, computers- virtually all electronics are either totally made offshore or assembled from offshore components. Larger things like major appliances now come from offshore. This wasn't stolen from us- we gave it away for short-term benefit, and we empowered our own competitors instead of competing.. The consequences of that are now here.

Well you let enough of them in through the southern border and eventually the education will suffer, competitive wages will stagnate and slowly but surely Americans will have to assimilate.. Don't think it's happening yet, visit some ghetto's, look how well the DNC has raised those places to a descent, safe and profitable way of life for all that are lucky enough to move there ;)

To narrow of a focal point! It has been the DNC for better then 75 years now.. Might want to ask yourself why the ever expanding ghettos vote Democrat, and why the DNC always runs on FREEEEE stuff, but when they win the Ghetto's and the poor grow larger and larger..

I'm sure you have a wonderful fantastical story why that is ;)

It's exactly the plan! When the U.S. becomes a second world nation, the Statists will rule and the elite will decide our lives. We are seeing examples of that now. Shutup and wear your mask!!

Yes, giving away our means of production was one of the major blunders we've committed, with dire consequences for national security, as seen in the PPE crisis of this pandemic. For a long time we depended on unfriendly countries to export PPE to us, including counterfeit ones. Certainly thousands of Americans died (including healthcare workers) due to scarce and faulty PPE, given that we no longer had the manufacturing capacity to domestically make hundreds of millions of high-quality ones. And the irritating thing is that once this capacity was partially restored thanks to smaller makers who decided to go into this production line, they got no support from the government and no access to the market, and some had their high-quality PPE rotting in warehouses without the ability to sell them, as the CDC continued to give outdated advice to major vendors to avoid selling N95s to the general public. ( @557 has details on this). We had a surplus of American-made N95 that couldn't get to the market, while faulty KN95s from China, 60% of them counterfeit, continued to reach the American market. This is mind-boggling and a demonstration of the utter incompetence that nowadays makes of the previously world-class CDC, a joke of an agency. As another symptom of our drop from being world leaders, these days the European Medicines Agency is more reliable than the CDC.

Also, corporate greed is a major component of the problem; like you said, they were more than happy to outsource their production lines, in search of cheap labor. Another example, again related to the pandemic, is that American company 3M, the maker of the best PPE in the world, at one point refused to turn their products into the domestic market, since they had more lucrative export opportunities. This is what I'd call treason... Later they were forced to sell to America under the threat of having the Defense Production Act unleashed on them, but it is an utter disgrace that an American company had to have their arms twisted to sell their essential product to Americans, in a time of need.

It is true, we can't stop China's advancements, but we should be bringing in the sharpest minds we can get so we don't fall farther behind. We should also be bringing in the most talented. America is short of almost all skill tradesmen. We took out of our high school trade training and even dropped it for kids who dropped out of school. Trump had some doubts about some science, but he knew we needed to bring in the smartest people we could find. The Democrats put America's future in illegals and refugees.

“We have to allow smart people to stay in our country — if you graduate number one in your class at Harvard, [if] you graduate from the Wharton School of Finance,” Trump said. “If we tell smart people to get the hell out, that’s not America first.”

Here's a time line for you:

The US makes life harder on Americans and more expensive fighting climate change while China takes over the world by letting us vastly decrease our standard of living while they take advantage of every country who does, eventually taking over the world.
