In some respects China's education system IS superior to ours. They don't put up with near as much BS from kids as we force teachers to here in the US. Thier kids are held to a higher standard than we hold our kids to. We coddle, they don't. If a child tried to pull the "I'm Non-Binary and you MUST call me "they/them" or I'll throw a fit!!!" in China they would metaphorically give that kid the middle finger and tell them to sit down and shut up, and if they didn't they would literally get a piece of chalk thrown at them, ruler rapped up against them, or just kicked outta class.

    In essence,

In the US kids tell the grown-ups what to do.
In China the grown-ups tell the kids what to do.

That is true to a point. But what many companies are doing is bringing in these people and putting them up and paying them much less than that profession normally pays. Then when American students graduate they find no opening in their chosen profession. Same with Americans working at Disneyland who were replaced by foreigners at lesser wages.

    • Large American companies like Disney (NYSE:DIS) and Toys “R” Us have been accused in recent months of using workers coming over on H-1B visas to aid in the outsourcing of American jobs.

Hundreds of foreign students on a State Department cultural exchange visa program walked off their factory jobs in protest on Wednesday.

The J-1 visa program brings foreign students to the country to work for two months and learn English, and was designed in part to fill seasonal tourism jobs at resorts and seaside towns. The 400 students employed at a Pennsylvania factory that packages Hershey's candies told The New York Times that even though they make $8.35 an hour, their rent and program fees are deducted from their paychecks, leaving them with less money than they spent to get the visas and travel to the country in the first place.

Some of the students were assigned night shifts, and said they were pressured to work faster and faster on the factory lines

Distortions will always happen. But I was talking rather of engineers and software programmers, doctors, nurses, etc.; professions that we don't have in enough numbers. There aren't unemployed Americans in these professions since there is a deficit. Just in the department/hospital where I work, there are 8 vacancies for doctors that we can't fill, and we are always short of nurses. I'm not talking about low-end Disney workers and Hershey's factory workers. You don't want distortions, make sure it's well regulated and regulations are enforced. But we do need more doctors, nurses, engineers, and IT specialists, and no, they are not of inferior quality because they are foreign graduates. Given that I'm a doctor, I can speak about doctors and nurses; they pass the same exams American graduates pass, in order to validate their diplomas here, and they are all of very similar quality to American graduates, given that they are the brightest people from their countries (it takes drive, courage, and skills to come from third world countries and succeed in the highly competitive American medical market). Actually there was a study showing that foreign medical graduates' patients achieve better outcomes than the patients of their American counterparts. So, I have nothing against legal immigration of skilled professionals. I'm not for chain migration of relatives of unskilled naturalized Americans and I'm against greencard lotteries. But I'd love to see the 8 vacancies we have in our department and can't recruit Americans for them, filled by good, competent foreign medical graduates. Like I said, medical education is extremely expensive, and if their countries educate them and we reap off the benefits, that's a win-win for us, because not only we benefit from their training for free, but also they are taxpayers, they speak good English, they integrate well in our society, and they generate jobs. So what's not to like? The moment the deficit in the workforce ended with all positions filled, then I'd cancel the programs, but for now we do need more doctors and nurses.

It's not clear to me that Dems are still leading America, it looks to me like they've lost the room and their shrill screams reflect their powerlessness. They put all their chips on bullying Manchin and Manchin has confronted them so directly with the promise that he will not be bullied that if he folds now he will be emasculated before his voters.

Remember, Manchin is a Democrat representing a R+23 State. Only Wyoming at R+26 is a more Republican State. No other Democrat represents that red of a state. Jack Tester in Montana is the closest and that's an R+11. CA, for comparison, is D+13. WV is nearly twice as Republican as CA is Democrat and except for Arnold, CA hasn't had a Republican elected to Statewide office for a half a generation. The point is that Manchin continues to pull off an amazing feat of representation and he does by deploying very the advanced social skills of listening to folks who view the world and each situation differently. It has to be difficulty to deploy that strong of a social game and not on some level expect that consideration in kind from those who are supposed to be on your team, and he's getting none, zero, essentially he's being threatened with banishment even though he is probably the only Democrat in WV that can hold statewide office.

Did you know that protesters, in the service of his 'fellow' Dems, swarmed the houseboat, where Manchin lives while working in Washington, in kayaks, for several days, screaming at him as he left for work each morning?

Then they followed him into a parking garage, blockaded his car, and and claimed he tried to run them over.

Manchin felt that Biden singling him out for pressure by crazed protesters, swarming his houseboat, put his wife and grandson directly in harm's way profoundly changing the deal making that had been in progress up to that point. Putting them at risk was much more aggressive than chasing Sinema into the restroom.

My guess is that he is quietly in talks with Murder Turtle swapping stories about the folks, the hills and the hollars they both call home.

In fact, Dems are already said they are going to keep coming at him, for him, and for a Federal takeover of State Elections, which, certainly is not a desire of West Virginia. Remember, WV is 50% MORE Republican leaning than the electorate that Mitch McConnell represents.

The best way for Manchin to safeguard his wife and grandchild from violent Leftists, and let's not kid ourselves, the Left has been open for going on two years that they will use organized violence as a political tool in coordination with elected Democrats and Propaganda Big Media, is to take the ability to pursue BBB and federalization of elections out of the hands of the Democrats by returning Mitch to majority control, where he will simply refuse to bring these items up for a vote. That will also shift the target from Manchin to Mitch, but, Mitch has been there before and seems fine with managing that.

That also will be the end of any further Senate confirmation of Biden appointments that are not supported by the GOP.
