Prosecutor seeks to charge 15-year-old Ethan Crumbley in the shooting at Oxford High School on Tuesday with first-degree murder, terrorism and related gun crimes.

McDonald said the facts “suggest this was not just an impulsive act," adding “we are considering charges against both parents and we will be making a decision swiftly.”

The charges:

• One count of terrorism causing death
• Four counts of first-degree murder
• Seven counts of assault with intent to murder
• 12 counts of possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony

You just keep stepping in it don't you. I don't even own a gun. Why would I get emotional over something I don't care to own? Are you ever going to stop assuming things?

And really, that statistic of guns in the household is meaningless as you could say that about anything. Having knives in the house makes it less safe. Driving a car makes it less safe. Having a pool makes a home less safe. blah blah blah. It generally stands to reason that if you don't have something in your possession/home then the chance of you being injured or even killed by it is zero while having something means that chance raises above zero.

 

A smart prosecutor would use a grand jury to gather and carefully examine all the facts before charging anyone but the shooter.

 

What liberals will not talk about is that a culture that devalues life is part of the problem. The violence porn spewing out of left wing Hollywood is a major part of the problem IMHO. But of course there are other examples of our culture devaluing both life and the rule of law.

Give this 15 year old a quick trial. Then one appeal. Then an execution of sentence within a year to send a message. Unless mentally ill, he should be given a death sentence. Imagine how that would disturb liberals around the planet.

 

I didn't bring him up. @Quantum Nerd did. And Trump did not reverse the law that keeps guns out of the hands of those legally deemed mentally ill. Its a federal law. He has no power to override that. What did happen is Congress passed a law revoking an Obama era rule that banned those that was deemed mentally unfit to handle their own finances. And Trump signed it. There are plenty of people that are not able to handle their own finances and yet can still handle guns. Why? Because the two are not necessarily connected. It was a stupid rule based on nothing scientific. Obama proposed the rule right after Sandy Hook....how could that have stopped Sandy Hook? In fact how many people that have been deemed mentally unable to handle their finances use guns violently period? I've never seen that number. Have you?

 

Its been mostly crickets. Barely made the news.

The crucial question is whether or not someone tried to grab his gun.

I'm curious out of all the violence out of Michigan State you focused in on this story?

 

If you can severely reduce gun crime and crime in general in Michigan State then you can talk about common sense gun control for law-abiding citizens and homeowners. Can you do that?

 

Hopefully they will prosecute the parents who bought the gun and ammo just 4 days before his killing spree.

Gun control doesn't work, just like prohibition didn't work and the war on drugs isn't working. It only encourages more crime...

Gun control laws, including gun bans cannot stop criminals from obtaining guns for obvious reasons.

 

First Degree Murder is pretty cut and dried.
