Three people were killed and six others were injured Tuesday in a shooting at a Michigan high school, authorities said. The lone suspect, a 15-year-old sophomore at the school, was taken into custody without incident, they said.
Police responded to an active shooter at Oxford High School at 12:51 p.m. local time, Oakland County Undersheriff Michael McCabe said in a news conference. Multiple police and emergency medical service units are now on the scene.

Yet another tragic incident (of this nature) in an American High School.

Given that this 15-year-old had free access to weapons, it is hard to imagine that people still exist who oppose ANY sort of common sense gun control.

In any event, the kid apparently is a great fan of The Constitution and the 2nd Amendment.

Obviously, a lot of details (and the shooter's motive) are still to be unconvered.

Thoughts and prayers to the victims and their families.
    Gotta love that 2nd Amendment.:flagus:

AJ, be serious. Do you honestly believe 2Aers care about this? Dude, a classroom full of KINDERGARTENS were killed in Sandy Hook. If THAT didn't stop their roll...nothing will.

AJ, you know the left handed guy Rittenhouse shot? He had a hand gun, he got his arm blown into pieces for it, and no one on the left said a word about it.

Kids corpses make a good soap box. To some people. I find it rather goulish.
Using criminals to try and remove rights isn't just creepy it's ignorant.

Do you wait for these events with baited breath just so you can use the dead to go after your political enemies?

Well I doubt they think requiring people to jump through hoops to own guns will stop murder.

They don't think guns cause murder. Case in point 500 million guns and not 500 million murders.

These people just aren't that stupid.

Take for instance Waukesha. I don't think we should interfere with the rights of people to own cars because some fruit loop kill people with one.

Why do some people think it's okay to kill people with cars or knives or fists but just not guns?

Yeah they want to pretend that he was a black man on his knees begging his Kyle just shot him because.

These people do not like reality. They want the world to be much more scary.

If the shooter is black, you will hear nothing but crickets, just like the one in Texas that shot a student and a teacher and got off with a slap on the wrist...

How does a 15 year old get his hands on a gun? Answer: From a "responsible" gun owner, who has been careless. Or, through a straw purchase, just like in the Rittenhouse case.

This hits home, since I have a 16 year old in HS and a 12 year old in MS. Just as my boy was similar age to the elementary age kids when the Newton shooting happened. I cried sitting on my computer that day, seeing the little ones led out of the school, hopefully into safety. I thought: This could be my boy in my school.

What do the 2nd amendment nuts do? Grab their beloved guns for some more polishing, and say "thoughts and prayers". Guess what: Thoughts and prayers are not good enough when this carnage continues. But, apparently, fondling their guns is more important to them and the politicians they vote for than caring about the kids that gets mowed down in gun fire, or the many more who will be forever haunted by the horrors they witnessed this day.

Guess we also need to implement "common sense vehicle reform" since any nutjob can instantly plow through 50+ people any time they want. But you don't want to talk about that. Hmmm, I wonder why....

It's not about guns or people dying they don't even care about murderers. The people they're most afraid of are you and me. That's why they turn criminal activity into discussions about lawful ownership of guns.

They're just trying to use the emotional state of people after this sort of thing to bully people into taking out what they view as their enemy.

For the record I don't have any issue with the parents of this 15-year-old facing charges. I'm willing to bet there was a lot of abuse going on that drove this person to do this because it's not something mentally healthy people do and they let him have access to firearms they should be charged for those things.

This is a law and order subject. Not a gun control subject gun control wouldn't control these people they violated gun control by bringing the gun to the school where guns are controlled. If anything one could argue gun control makes this problem. But I don't want to use corpses as a soapbox.

This shooting sucks, all shootings suck. But why is this particular shooting more newsworthy than the hundreds of other shootings this year?

The twenty cities in the United States with the highest murder rates (murders per 100,000 people) are:

    1. St. Louis, MO (69.4)
    2. Baltimore, MD (51.1)
    3. New Orleans, LA (40.6)
    4. Detroit, MI (39.7)
    5. Cleveland, OH (33.7)
    6. Las Vegas, NV (31.4)
    7. Kansas City, MO (31.2)
    8. Memphis, TN (27.1)
    9. Newark, NJ (25.6)
    10. Chicago, IL (24)
    11. Cincinnati, OH (23.8)
    12. Philadelphia, PA (20.2)
    13. Milwaukee, WI (20.0)
    14. Tulsa, OK (18.6)
    15. Pittsburgh, PA (18.4)
    16. Indianapolis, IN (17.7)

Laws are calibrated for honest people. Dishonest people will ALWAYS find a way to get what they want.

I haven't looked it up but, IIRC, we have never had a rogue shooter that was using his own registered weapon(s). So the disconnect is NOT removing guns from law-abiding citizen. That's a right.

However, the only stop gap that might work is addressing how and why legally owned weapons are not secured at all times when not in use. How are these kids accessing these weapons if they were secured in a gun safe?

Secondly, it's true there are a gazillion ways to kill someone. The difference between cars, knives or fists, as weapons is all of them take much longer to implement. With a gun, a nanosecond of rage is all that is needed. No need to gas up and bowl over a crowd of people. Knives take even longer because the target is capable of fighting. Fists take longer and may not even be an option depending on a person's size and agility and those characteristics in their target.

I knew several people that committed suicide. I am convinced that, two of them, would still be alive in they didn't have immediate access to a weapon. No doubt whatsoever.

I don't know the solution but I'm exhausted with the constant bickering. The back and forth is a waste of energy. Some of us have to get off "everything is the other side's fault. We are all Americans and we should be united in solving our country's problem.

Darrell Brooks ran over 50 people and killed 6 in 5 seconds. No gun on Earth can kill or injure that many people in 5 seconds...

Vehicles are far more dangerous than any weapon on this planet. For example, if someone chose to do so, and saw a crowd of 200 people at any sort of parade or gathering, all they have to do is floor it and instantly kill 50+ people. And there's not a damn thing they can do about it. You wouldn't even see it coming until it was too late, just like those in the Christmas parade....

It's gun control that made this problem.

Your irritation with Second Amendment supporters is that we are right.

First and foremost it's already illegal to kill people if you didn't know it's illegal to have a gun at school at all so that's gun control.

The inability of schools to defend themselves is why they're targeted.

If you doubt me list all the mass shootings that happened at armories or gun shows or shooting ranges or hunting clubs or police departments.

It's almost like the existence of a bunch of people that are potentially armed and skilled enough to take someone out deters mass shootings.

You probably think teachers being armed will cause students to be killed because you have been taught to fear guns and people that have them.

And that's what this is about you don't care about those kids that died you are using their corpses to attack people that you are scared of. You call them nuts and fondlers to defame them but the reality is if they were there and your stupid gun control laws were not in effect those three kids you are blubbering about might not have died. In fact the shooter might not have even went there.

Case in point list all the mass shootings that happened at gun shows or firing ranges or hunting clubs or open carry demonstrations

It's almost like shooters avoid those targets because they I'm worried about people shooting back at them.

You and people that think like you made this problem and you and people that think like you want to make it worse than just to attack people like me.

No one should believe for a minute any of your crap about blubbering about these kids because you don't care you want more of them to die.

I want to say don't take the bait. This isn't about people dying. It's about fundamentally changing the country by taking power away from the citizens.

Have you ever wondered why it seems to be almost a perfect partisan divide? It's because authoritarian s don't want people to have power if people have power they have no authority.

Anytime someone brings up my shootings as an effort to combat the Constitution they aren't doing so because they care about the people that died. They're doing so to manipulate the emotions of people. Every Democrat that bought a gun over the past two years I said no to authoritarianism. This frightens the authoritarian who seem to dominate the political elite of the Democratic Party possibly the Republican Party I'm not sure. It frightens them because they don't have control over their own party.

That's a good thing authoritarians should always be terrified that's how you keep them in check. If they don't want to live that way then can either move to North Korea or they can quit being scum.

you don’t know how he had access to this gun so to say a 15 year old had free access to a gun is a total assumption.

Also what does the 2nd amendment have to do with a gun free zone? I’m an extreme 2A supporter and I oppose any gun legislation. As proven by the recent parade slaying by car, any chosen weapon can be deadly. People kill people with gun control or without it. Mexico is a great example of that.

I'm not conveying this correctly. What I am attempting to explain is that, unlike guns, other things that can be used as weapons takes more *effort* to implement. I'm not familiar with the Brooks case but that isn't relevant because the point is he had to do *something* to reach his goal. When guys get into brawls, it takes effort to physically fight someone.

With a gun, even if that rage is one second, it could make or break a bad situation. I mentioned in another post that I knew several people that have committed suicide. Two of them died by gunshots to the head. I have no doubt they would both be alive right now if they did not have immediate access to the weapons they used.

And, I'm not arguing for taking away weapons from the people that qualify for them and have not used them to cause bodily harm or death to others. I can't recall all the names but, of the top of my head, Rittenhouse is the only shooter I've read about who used is own guns. In almost all the other cases, the weapons were taken and used to hurt and kill others.

The gap is that space between legally owning weapons and ensuring they are properly stored so others cannot access them. Maybe we need to start arresting, jailing and/or fining people when someone takes their weapons and causes destruction. That might some of the on the ball.

If Kyle Rittenhouse is living proof of anything it is that the founders were absolutely right I’m not putting an age limit on the right to bear. He proved that a young person can properly use a firearm to defend himself.

Yes the founders did discuss ages to bear arms. 16 was often mentioned yet the age limit never made the final cut. For good reason in my opinion.

I was a tragic accident, but this is a price we have to pay for the 2nd amendment. I support the 2nd amendment, not because I am afraid of criminals, but because I am afraid of the government. Jan 6 attack on the Capitol and Trump false claim he won the election proves we need the 2nd amendment. The price is high, but if we want to keep America as a democratic country – we need it.
