What a b*tch this Potap!Everyone know that facts must be ignored.

But even the most stupid American knows perfectly well where is Latvia situated.

Actually, pigs live better. And some of them even became a president!

And their names are Riga,Jurmala, Liepaja, etc.

    It's a misstake,this is Raymond Pauls's words.

...instead of sliping away from their country as the representatives of some small but proud nations use to do.

"Remember the old anecdote about Ukraine? - Tells me the Latvian economist Alexander Gaponenko. - Putin Comes to Kuchma and asks "how much Ukraine"? But Kuchma, reply to Putin "With people or without people? Without people cheaper!" Putin thought and said: "Come on without of people". And Kuchma said to Putin "Okay. But wait another three years". A sad anecdote. I often think of it here in Latvia. My country, where I, incidentally, is "non-citizen", you can buy at a bargain right now. Latvia - a desert. A state without the people."-> http://kp.ru/daily/25783/2766561/

That appears to be a tacit admission that you have no specifics.

I assumed as much, but I tried to give you the benefit of the doubt anyway. Wasnt that nice of me?

LOL, no they dont. He's right. I'd be willing to bet very few Americans know where Latvia is. Most of them might guess the general area ("somewhere around Russia or Europe"), but hardly any of them will be able to find it on a map.

It isnt stupidity, it is a lack of interest. I dont know how to process corn. It isnt because I am too stupid to understand how to process corn, it is because I have no interest in learning how to do it. It isnt something I need to know or care about. Latvia has virtually no impact on the lives of most Americans.

A little less informed does not mean that they were not informed enough to have more or less correct view of the world. I can agree that Soviet people travelled a little less then Americans, had less telechannels, had other newspapers. But these are nuances which do not cancel the fact. There was no vacuum. But the absence of vacuum brings to nothing all diligence of propaganda.

No doubts. There are many people of this trade in many countries.

Sometimes old lady can has good medical education and the long experience of work in a good clinic.

I think we are to stop this philological digression as we speak about nuances of language. But social scientists operate with concepts which sometimes preternatural dictionaries. I mean English-speaking scientists too. This is one definitions of dictatorship which I have found in English-speaking variant of Wiki. " A government controlled by one person, or a small group of people. In this form of government the power rests entirely on the person or group of people, and can be obtained by force or by inheritance. The dictator (s) may also take away much of its peoples' freedom. " http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dictatorship

Dictatorship of the proletariat. " In Marxist socio-political thought, the dictatorship of the proletariat refers to a socialist state in which the proletariat, or the working class, have control of political power. " http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dictatorship_of_the_proletariat

I think you understand what to control 20-30 unarmed people in bank and to control a country with the population of 20-30 millions persons in which there is an army, a police, influential rich clans with their economic interests are different things.

You try to insert social terms in Procrustean bed of dictionaries. But I repeat the social science falls outside the limits of dictionaries. Sometimes terms are crossed or become a part of other terms. Oligarchy is one of kinds of dictatorship. What is wrong?

Saddam Hussein was not alone. He was the leader of Ba'ath Party and was supported by influential Sunnis clans.

The process of brain washing does not mean your disagreement with elite. A victim of propaganda always agrees with the official point of view. If you have well brainwashed head you'll always be agree with elite. Always and at own will you'll do everything elite wants from you and you will consider this is your free choice.

Dear, Greatly respected MaxRiga I'm to disappoint you. Me and Sadistic-Savior are familiar much time before your appearance at this forum. So you are too late with your warning. But the most shocking thing for you is he does not fear me like you do. Though I do not agree with him in the majority of points, sometimes we have long talks. While you fear to answer easy questions. You either run away from the facts writing silly posts about politeness or keep a silence like a Belarus partisan on interrogation in Gestapo.

Being the great expert on Russia you have very precisely noticed one very negative point of Russian mentality. Russians respect statistics and the facts. Actually this is very bad because this importunate statistics does not allow Latvian users to write crap at forums and constantly catches them in lie. This is not politely and contradicts fundamental human rights, such as the right of a writing of unsubstantiated delirium.

P.S. Sometimes I think we should demand from Swedes back our money which Peter I have paid for you. Swedes have sold to us the crappy goods.

I think you are wrong. Latvia is the most important European country from all European countries. The center of universe and European civilization. Dont you know? MaxRiga can confirm it.

How do you determine what "enough" is? It stands to reason that the person with access to as much or more information is going to be the person who is more informed most of the time.

A random old lady is unlikely to have all of that, statistically speaking. Even in Russia.

If you had to trust your life to a random old lady or a doctor that you knew was educated, which would you choose?

The semantics are relevant in this context, especially with the language barrier. There can be no debate if there is no communication. There can be no communication if the words mean different things to each of us.

LOL...This is the first sentence of your own link:

That is the common use of the term in the English language. That is why ALL dictionaries list it as such in their definitions. That is why we use the word "Oligarchy"...if a dictator could mean more than one person, there would be no need for the word "Oligarchy".

Here is another word you may not be familiar with:

    http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/analogy

I am using the actual definition for a word in the English language. You are the one inventing a new definition that does not exist.

Even if that were true, it would be irrelevant in this context, since this is not a forum full of social scientists.

Yes he was, in the sense that he controlled everyone else. He had people below him, and they in turn had control of others, on down the food chain. He had EFFECTIVE control, even if it was not "legal" control. Using fear and coercion, he had effective control over everyone within the country. He did not require anyone's willing consent to do anything.

Then how exactly did you objectively determine I have been brainwashed? How do you know YOU have not been brainwashed?

Your criteria seem awfully vague and subjective.

Your problem is that that you never understand the point. Everyone believes in facts and statistic. But there is logical balance when you can say statistics and when you can say facts. For example - I'm not even gonna bother my self in searching any facts about how many people die under Stalin regime. The point is he is bloody dictator. Every time when you ask somebody to provide the prove that Stalin is actually killed the millions you sound weird.
I hope you GOT THE POINT now.

When you r saying that I'm scared to speak with you it also sounds weird and kinda aggressive. I told you once and I can kindly repeat - I'm not scared to share MY OPINION and at the same time I don't actually care what others think about it. But my opinion might be influenced by other opinion based by good statistic and facts. This means I might listen to you more carefully next time if you will be polite ( not sarcastic ) and reasonable.

To say it more understandable for you I can explain you two things - 1) People are free to share their opinions free of any facts and statistics. The opinion is not science to be proved. 2) It's always welcome to base facts by proves. But in this case you should let your opponent know that this is not just opinion but facts.
In my case I was sharing my opinion with you. And I don't need to prove anything. So and I didn't ask any proves from you. Now, to make the final statement I can repeat my opinion - Stalin is bloody dictator and he is known as killer of massive amount innocent people. If you have some kinda facts that this is not true you can provide it to historians, not me. ( (*)(*)(*)(*), it was my daughter when I was explaining the obvious things to somebody last time, lol )

I can't confirm it simply because I don't know it. I'm not Latvian but it's funny to see you guessing differing things. I can assume you are guessing different historical facts the same way you are guessing about me. How can you expect people to listen you seriously if all you do is one big guess?

Good question, I'd love to see him answering this.

It's very obviously you have no wit, and no brevity too .

    lol, unfortunately this is true.

by the way, I've googled the words - why Russians are so ..and found out lot of funny things, such as -

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20090408212151AASBYlS
    or
    http://www.russianmeetingplace.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7616

This what I meant by saying - how Russians expect to be respected if Russians don't even respect each another !? Being hostile each to another is also part of Russian character. I wouldn't blame Russians for this because I understand it came historical way.
This why most of Russians on different forums are aggressive, rude and pointless. They speak not because they want to speak but just to argue. Even if there is no reason to. I think that you've noticed it already by your self :)))

Russians are so silly. They have no conception of how profoundly the mindset has changed here. They seem unaware that there may very well not be a polity called the United States of America in a matter of a few years. Shakes head.

It turnes out that Mr.MaxRiga who steadily gravitates to Russian threads is masochist.

Oh yes,he is Canadian already. But it'd be interesting to know his previous nationality if only he is not ashamed of it.

Evil has promised me a conducted tour of the military airport at Smolensk so that I can search for evidence to explain the April 2010 plane crash when the Polish elite were lost .
The FSB never get matters right , so there are bound to be fragments still there which will prove again that the plane was brought down by a missile or by electro magnetic "Laser" weaponry .
Do not let me down , Evil . I am looking forward to visiting .

There are no certain criteria which would be reflected in figures. What is enough 70 or 20 telechannels. At 70s average Soviet family could watch 2-3 telechannels. Now I have 70 in my TV, but really I watch 5-6. I even do not interested what do show others ones. Enough is when I have a possibility to compare different sources of the information and to make own conclusions.

Ok you can not trust to random old lady. But if the doctor to which you trust will tell to you the same, do not be surprised as someone has already spoken you about it.

You try to withdraw me into a jungle of discussion of philological nuances of words. This is not a philological but political forum. I gave to you two examples in which English-speaking scientists apply the word a dictator to group of persons. I'm not against to name this group as oligarches, as oligarchy is one of kinds of group dictatorship. I do not see any contradictions here. When you try to classify a society to any type of societies, sometimes you can meet a problem as it is very difficultly to find a classical variant. There are many so-called mixed types and sometimes it is difficultly to distinguish democracy from oligarchy or dictatorships. You think the USA are democracy. But I know people which consider the USA as oligarchy as only 200-300 families have real authority in your country. And I do not think Russia is an example of democracy as I do not believe in existence of classical democracy in the modern world. And I can prove my point.

You are the good philologist, but the bad political scientist. It is impossible to rule a group of people using fear only. Especially it is not possible to rule a state in this way. As any state has army and police which can create plot and kill anyone even the most terrible dictator. What for to frighten people if it is possible to give them small authority which they'll use in own interests. In this case they will voluntary make everything you want. The person which has got an authority, money and grateful to the patron is better than the scared slave.

I do not know how far you have brain washed head. How far you are able to resist to propaganda and how far your opinion is yours one but not the opinion which was inspired to you. I shall be repeated: a victim of propaganda is not able to distinguish own opinion from the inspired opinion, this it is impossible as the victim considers the inspired opinion as own one. Our talk goes about brain washing of Americans, you deny this fact. While propaganda of ideology is one of bases of existence of any state including the USA.
