Bandera is 'old TX,' lots of history there...plus in pretty, hilly region south of Fredericksburg et al

yeah, we go back to visit E. TX 1/yr and that's enuf. Spent last Xmas in Bandera (west of San Antonio) at a dude ranch w/family..that was fun, and lots of deer (pet)

My folks retired there from Dallas, also sis and hubby at Lake Palestine, but too humid for me--I's likes da dry heat!! (and da mtns)

Used to go thru Houston down to Galveston during summer while in college (did a 2-dayer at Corpus while on senior HS trip)... had B-I-L w/parents who lived in Port Aransas til it got wiped out by a hurricame back when--now all live in Tyler.

I've been all over TX (lived there 19 yrs), including Padre, Port Aransas, Harlingen & Brownsville, and along the TX/Mex border all the way up to El Paso from there.

You from LA..? Yeah, most of the hunters that are from out-of-state in S. CO where my daughter & family live are from TX...need mtns, trees, & elevation.

yeah, but why elk tastes better--not very gamey!

Had my 1st Elk meat last year (daughter & hubby shot) tasted better than venison!! Made some great meatballs for spaghetti.

BTW, have you ever killed, butchered, and eaten an animal (besides fish)??

That's because we are really never 'hungry' these modern days..I could eat a rat if it wasnt a sewer rat..but if starving, yeah, could eat one of those too...<big wince>

Yeah, he lived in OK..guess you could make dog food outa them..a lot of cultures do eat rats!

Had an uncle who invested in a nutria farm back in the 60's. Never heard what the outcome was,..he be dead now.

I've noticed that there are 2 types of women:

1) Those who cant take any coarse humor at all without taking it personally.

2) Those who can take it and dish it out 'for awhile', but...then end up taking it personally.
