No. You don't get it! The state, which I am ashamed to say is my home state, does not have a "right" to ignore federal law. No state does.

There is absolutely no difference in principle and effect between a "sanctuary" state like Washington (even though the eastern half of the state is quite sane and law abiding) and Jim Crow states in the deep South in the fifties and sixties that simply decided they would not enforce or follow civil rights laws.

The difference lies 100% in what law Washington and Georgia, for instance, refuse to follow respectively. So Jay Inslee is much more like Lester Maddox and George Wallace than he can possibly know and Trump simply cannot allow lawless rogue governors to thumb their noses at laws they don't wish to bother with.
He should immediately begin to reign in Inslee with all the powers the federal government can bring to bear including economic and legal.

Can a Senator do what this Governor just did with regards to an entire state? And of course, which Senator are you referring to?

I see that thought but cannot agree that the blow back will be less than the political gain. Not even close.

The Governor put his face on the policy. Its not a convoluted third party or city councel where blame gets fuzzy, it is one man. One man. It's personal, the Governor made it personal. Now let one child get raped by an illegal alien released. There will be a father, mother, brother, sister or uncle taking it personally.

    Strange territory.

    Cheers

Did you realize that 99% of rapes and murders are committed by people who were either born in this country or are here legally? We should really keep a close watch on those (*)(*)(*)(*)ers...

I think the local PD's get a lot of money from the state and will do as they are told.

Even if that BS statistic is true, so what? That's still a lot of murders and rapes being committed by people who shouldn't be here to begin with. What's an acceptable number of murders and rapes for you to have them here? Can you be specific?

And how many of that 99% is committed by the anchor baby progeny that these illegals birth to stay in the country and collect welfare?

When Arizona attempted to do something about illegals, the Obama administration sued claiming that immigration policy is solely a Federal issue.

The Democrats lose the Executive branch and now, not surprisingly, the states should be able to determine immigration policy.

    Ok lets do this

Round them up and instead of deportation to Mexico ship them to Washington State. If they leave then they get deported. Solves the issue

How is it a state right when the people they're willing to take in have broken federal law?

Companies like Boeing should leave the state and relocate to more favorable states.

It doesn't explicitly support either claim (99% of rapes and murders are or are not committed by illegal immigrants),
But there is lots of evidence elsewhere that demonstrates a claim of one percent of murders and rapes by illegals is just a laughable guess.

"Available evidence suggests that illegals are more likely to commit crimes than the rest of the population. Fox News sorted through myriad "local, state and federal statistics" and found that "illegal immigrants are three times as likely to be convicted of murder as members of the general population and account for far more crimes than their 3.5-percent share of the U.S. population would suggest."

Speaking as a non lib resident of WA state I feel sorry for me too but I will support Trump in whatever he does in response to this anti law move by my idiot governor. Most everything east of the Cascades is red territory and we are sick to death of Seattle ruling us out here in fly over country. These *******s on the coast will fold like a cheap card table when Trump applies a little pressure and this move by the governor is nothing more than PR to placate his base.

I got the solution to make everyone happy. Progressive states and cities want to fight for all illegals to stay, conservatives want them deported and sanctuaries defunded.

Instead send all illegals to the sanctuary states and cities and don't add a dime to their federal funding. You want them here then you got them..... all in your own back yards and YOU wil have to find a way to support them. Also divert all new illegals and refugees to these locations.

    Problem solved, everyone is happy.

This is how it is all the way from San Diego to Seattle: The coast is more populated and filled with leftist flotsam and jetsam and once you move away from the coast over the mountains, the citizenry is solidly conservative and out voted by the progressives.

The only answer for political relief is a geological one as a series of earthquakes might cause the coast line to submerge swallowing up Hollywood, Marin Country and San Francisco, Portland and Seattle. I wonder if the eastern sides of Oregon and Washington might merge into the new state of Cascadia
(but not the Cascadia movement that wants to form a new nation that stretches through British Columbia all the way to Alaska https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cascadia-independence_movement).

I too am a non liberal in the State of California. I want trump to cut off funds to CA as long as there are sanctuary anything in the state. Scary Jerry "brown streak high speed rail" Browndoggle's head will pop like a pimple. He can't raise taxes much further or face another tax revolt like Prop13. His only other choice will to be to fold like a cheap piece of origami. I can't wait to see him grovel.

I'm proud to have voted for him. This is true resistance, not a bunch of middle-class white women whining because their awful candidate blew an election she felt entitled to.
