“Well, if you say who gets fired it always has to be the top,” Trump said. “I mean, problems start from the top and they have to get solved from the top and the president’s the leader. And he’s got to get everybody in a room and he’s got to lead.”

He said that further down in history, “when they talk about the government shutdown, they’re going to be talking about the president of the United States, who the president was at that time.”

“They’re not going to be talking about who was the head of the House, the head the Senate, who’s running things in Washington,” Trump said.

“So I really think the pressure is on the president,” he added.

Interesting, you say this all happened on NBC News. Yet, as a source to support your contention, you don't use NBC. You use Townhall.com. Townhall is an American politically conservative website and print magazine.

Supposedly a "Democratic aide" said this. I prefer going directly to the source.

“Our country needs a good ‘shutdown’ in September to fix mess,” Trump tweeted in May.

Trump nailed it when asked who was responsible for a government shutdown.

On “Fox & Friends” in 2013, Trump was asked who should be blamed for a government shutdown.

He replied, “Well, if you say who gets fired it always has to be the top,” Trump said. “I mean, problems start from the top and they have to get solved from the top and the president’s the leader. And he’s got to get everybody in a room and he’s got to lead.”

He said that history will be the judge, “when they talk about the government shutdown. They’re going to be talking about the president of the United States, who the president was at that time.”

    Nice try.

The Republicans are being disingenuous when they try to put this one on the Democrats. They are saying the Democrats did not support the C.R. over the immigration issue. That is a lie.

Immigration issue has many facets, the lottery system, the family issue, border security (which itself is multifaceted, border guards strength, fencing, electronic measures, vehicles, and aircraft), the problem of illegal immigration and what to do with the eleven million illegal immigrants already here, the wall, etc,. etc, A very tiny part of the immigration issue is the 700,000 Dreamers.

Because of broken promises by Republicans and Trump for the past four months over the Dreamers, the Democrats have said no more, and they put their foot down. If the Republicans and Trump hadn't fixed the problem in four months, how could they trust them to solve it in two months?

In addition, the Republicans have proven they are not able to govern. For the past six to nine months they have been incapable of passing a budget. That is why Congress is voting on the fourth C.R. We are nearly half way through fiscal year 2018. The GOP itself is split. Four Republicans voted against the C.R. Why should the Democrats think the GOP will suddenly become more capable in the next two months.

The Republicans have promised to take care of the Dreamers in March. We have heard that before. But how will they take care of the Dreamers? Will they incorporate the Dreamer issue into a bill that also includes a substantial increase in military spending, the wall, stringent immigration issues, draconian health care measures? In other words, a plethora of issues the Democrats strongly oppose.

Elections are in November and the Democrats are very hopeful. No reason to give away the ranch today. Republicans should be wary when it comes to the Dreamers. Are they going to ship them all back? What exactly are they going to do with the Dreamers? Allow them to stay? Then why not say so now and turn the lights back on?

Because Trump and the Republicans have broken their word so many times on the Dreamers issue, the Democrats had to either draw a red line or put 700,000 young people living in the U.S. in limbo, a place they have been since Trump made his cruel decision in September.

The Democrats decided on the red line. No more obfuscation, no more broken promises.

Your entire post is based on two tweets. There is nothing from NBC on your provocative post.

I have listened to Mulvaney, McConnell, Trump, and the White House. Their defense for their questionable decisions is based on lies.

We don't need NBC, with the Associated Press and the NY Times blaming the Democrats.

You don't do it this way.By furloughoing our Military and
those who depend on a Government paycheck.
No different than in 2013 when the Dems ran around
constantly berating Republicans for their Shutdown.
    Same Exact thing.
Don't let the Democrats Fool y'all again.
They are to blame and don't let up.
Notice how Snarky Senator Schumer kept calling
it the Trump Shutdown, yesterday.Done entirely as
Transference.A typical and consistent snarky Democrat
ploy.Transfering their guilt onto the GOP.They lived
by that rule under Obama the Meek.
    Those days are long over.
New Government and new ways of dealing with Lyin'
    scum dimocrats.

Because of the case General Mattis pointed out.
It is very discouraging for our Men & Women in the
armed forces. To know they cannot count on being paid
by their Government. It most certainly is not a confidence
builder. Thanks entirely to thankless fools known as the
Democrat Party. The ones responsible for the Middle East
blowing-up,for Benghazi and the creation of Isis.
Plus obliverating all the blood, sweat and tears our Military
endured in order to usher in a New Baghdad.
President Bush managed a simple Democracy in Iraq.
Obama managed to undue all that while co-opting a
new deadly pandemic threat known as Isis.

Predictable. This is what Obama meant by " Transforming "
Like some horror movie with Human " transformers ".
Obama spent huge gobs of time corrupting the senses
and sensibilities of average joe America. To the point where
even going to the bathroom could be made political.
So it makes perfect sense that those like you don't
know yer bathrooms from yer Lies.
The Democrat Party under Obama was built on Conning
    We the people.
It's known as the Gruber effect

The dems now have a lost cause among the American
People. They have in effect,so ticked off many americans
for their preference of Dreamers and Illegals OVER our
Military, our Cops,Our Firefighters and even our Government
workers that the damage is legion and unrepairable.
So let them spew on.They are only digging their holes
    wider and deeper.Not Fox holes.

And.....they don't shut down at any 5pm time. Also R&D is suspended along with maintenance.

How The Military Is Affected By The Government Shutdown

President Obama signed a bill ensuring members of the military will be paid during the government shutdown, but here are some other effects of the shutdown.

U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin, Democrat from Illinois, says soldiers need intelligence to carry out their missions but the CIA, like other government agencies, is losing employees due to the shutdown.

"All DoD work will stop on weapons and equipment maintenance not directly related to war, bases will not be maintained and we will see a degradation of facilities," he said. "You'll see massive disruptions all across this country." While the Defense Department will continue to operate with service members and essential employees after a shutdown, Durbin said a gap in funding would "cripple our intelligence community." "We rely on their agencies to warn us of threats, to prevent terrorist attacks and inform leaders making critical national security decisions," he said.

About 400,000 civilians, including tens of thousands in California, would be furloughed and would be paid retroactively only after congressional approval, according to the Los Angeles Times. The Department of Homeland Security is planning to furlough just less than 14% of its employees.

Fort Bragg, North Carolina, the home of the 82nd Airborne Division, plans to put about 38% of its civilian workforce on furlough if the shutdown goes forward, Bragg officials said Monday.

Weapons and equipment maintenance will shut down, military intelligence operations would stop and training for most of the reserve force would be put on hold, he said. And any National Guard forces heading out to do weekend training duty around the country will arrive at armories and be told to go home......snip~

It depends if the Demos will fund the government and leave DACA for a Congressional Fix. The Demos gambled thinking the shutdown would be put on the Repubs. They were wrong.
