Nothing changes in neoliberal heaven. Except the stinking rich get richer and richer and the rest of us pay for it.

But let's face it, 82% of wealth generated in 2017 going to just 1% is beyond immoral; it's obscene.

We don't have capitalism, Moonglow. We have interventionism. We have a planned economy. We have a welfare state. We have inflationism. We have central economic planning by a central bank. We have a belief in deficit financing.

It is so far removed from free-market capitalism that it’s foolish to label it as such.

The solution is to get back to a genuine free-market economy where the market tells the government what to do instead of the controlled economy we have now where the government tells the market what to do. That's the solution.

We're 21 trillion in debt and our dollars worth of purchasing power is now worth 4 cents. Our currency has been completely debased and devalued as a consequence of our Keyensian monetary policy.

The rich corporations aren't affected by the inflationism caused by the printing press. They get all of that newly printed money first before it's circulated into the economy while the middle class gets hit with the inflation tax. Politicians lovetheinflation tax because they don't have to debateit ir vote on it.

And I'll tell you another thing, man, the GOP just adopted chained cpi into the tax bill. That means the middle class is being hit with a constant, gradual, tax increase that can't even really be noticed right now but they'll notice it in about 8 years from now when its full effect hits. Guess what else is going to happen. A lot of them, most of them, really, will be put into a higher tax bracket at that time along with likely about a further devalued 2 or 3 cents worth of purchasing power when it happens.

    lolol. It's gosh darned nuts.

For arguments sake, who's to say that the richest one percent didn't produce the lions share of the wealth? I mean if one man plants a thousand acres of vegetables. And 99 men plant their flower beds with vegetables. Then the one percent is gonna reap a huge harvest, while the other 99 percent get exactly what they bargained and worked for. So why then isn't the op article simply preaching the doctines of covetousnes, jealousy, and envy. And since when is it a crime to be richly blessed? The story and lesson of Cain and Abel come to mind.

Basic problem with this consolidation of wealth - history shows us that when such wealth is held so closely by the few, that the many redistribute it through violent means. Always.

A what's a massive wealth gap got to do with anything? I mean the rich guys deserve to be rich, cause they are better than the competition and way better than the poor people who's money they have taken -oh sorry "earned".

Never mind the role it has played throughout history in things like revolutions, civil wars, coup d'etat and multinational wars. That is just fear mongering intellectual elitist bullshit. Never mind human nature.

Nothing to see or be concerned about.

IMO a main problem with overly concentrated wealth is that it does not allow many individuals to make the innumerable small financial decisions that capitalism depends upon in order to thrive.

Its not a problem. The rich don't bury their money in the ground, they spend it, they invest it, which creates jobs and produces all the stuff we enjoy and need like computers, cars, phones, modern medical equipment and drugs, etc. And they also pay most of the taxes. I'm not at all upset about people like Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg. Nobody else should be either.

A completely free market economy isn't really the solution either. In a true free market you will end up with a few monopolies owning everything. It's bad enough as it is.
And probably too late to turn things around.

The richest are the ones that deserve the money they make. The bottom 99% don't need any more money. The poor just spend money on drugs and spinning hub caps and what not. They can't manage money.

This just might be the most ignorant post ever. The rich man can’t plant and harvest 1000 acres. He’s going to hire people to help him do it and leverage their labor. Or more likely these days, he going to buy futures in the commodity and never put an ounce of labor into the process.

We’re not saying there shouldn’t be benefits to investing, just pointing out that if the return on investing is out of line with the return on labor - then eventually, labor will turn violent to even the score.

Things are slowly changing, with charities like Oxfam highlighting the vast inequalities of neoliberal doctrine. The continuing decline of US hegemony will add to that too.

Btw, my concern is not for America. Let Americans sort that out. If they can. If they care to. My concern is principally with the UK being a toe-rag in the neoliberal game.

Still didn't answer my question. How would you resolve this concentration of wealth?

And you have evidence to support that assertion?

    Thought not.

History also shows that the many usually lose. Too many are willing to fight for the few for wages/plunder/rape.
