Do those CEO's pay individual income tax? They certainly dob't pay any Corporate tax out of their own pocket! I'll keep fighting for the individual. You keep fighting to put money in the government coffers. Say tell me, how do lifelong Senators become multi millionaires on $170,000 a year? Bet none of them are as frugal as me.

Then we should do away with public education as well because it is a service not a right

Education is also not a right but the smart thing to do but all education to begin with was not created by government. It wasn't until much later that government took it over.

Wealthy people do very good things but that doesn’t mean they should not pay high taxes for the good of the country. My husband retired in his 40s. my husband donated lots of money to his passion which was the environment and nature. My husband did not work longer than a 40 hour week because he worked on Wall Street and yes he had time to coach his daughter and being an involved father. He also took pleasure in his ability to “spread the wealth”
I was also fortunate enough to write a successful book and speak on it. My husband had to teach me how to negotiate. I learned a lesson. The more you ask for, the more they want you. I got thousands of dollars for an hour speech . Believe it or not it bothered me because I made a fraction of that as a teacher. To assuage my guilt I would volunteer to speak in counties that had lots of inner-city schools as well as the Peace Corps and teach for America.

I’m not sure what the above is attempting to prove but where does this idea the Government is going to dictate where charity operates come from? Is this another American paranoia about creeping socialism? Seriously, those of us watching this tedious left/right debate from outside the US wonder at times if both sides have been subject to frontal lobotomies. Most of you haven’t the slightest understanding of how democratic so called socialism functions abroad. My suspicion is the right in the US suffers from a Randian delusion all and every member of any government body running a state funded welfare system is necessarily personally immoral and institutionally corrupt.Granted some of the bodies I could reference may be described as disorganised but this is invariably the result of right wing governments coming into power and attempting to destroy any evidence tax payer funded schemes can be efficient. If reality doesn’t match your rigid ideology hobble or remove the reality.

No, education wasn’t always a right. Someday they will hopefully say that about health care.
You say that education is not a right but it is the smart thing to do all I feel the same way about healthcare.

Rights aren’t the only issue. Consider this, how many potential scientists, surgeons, lawyers etc fail to reach a fraction of their potential due to poverty putting education out of their reach? As to the theoretical cabin in the woods a hundred miles from civilisation that’s what Ayn Rand termed ‘ A lifeboat example’. In other words suggest a rare or improbable situation as justification for rejecting an argument. In Australia our tax payer funded medical system does not involve anything like ‘ forcing the supply of your own doctor hundreds of miles from civilisation’ . We do however have a service to outlying rural areas, The Flying Doctor Service.Without this, for instance, vast highly profitable outback businesses such as cattle ranches would not be sustainable.

And how many have you interviewed? By the way, I’m not a European Socialist. In fact I adhere to no particular ideology considering both right and left to be deluded by their theoretical constructions into failing to observe reality and the potential for efficiencies that come from mixing the best of free enterprise with tax payer funded welfare. Notice I did not use the term ‘socialism’ .I know how Americans have nightmares of Stalin &/or Kim Jong Un bashing down your front door at the mere thought of such things.

Willing to trash our nation. It wasn't Trump going around trashing America and apologizing for it. That was Obama and Biden. It isn't Trump who is hated in the Middle East for his policies, it was Obama. Trump has nothing to apologize about. It's in much better shape than it's been in decades. He provokes such hysterical and over the top opposition that it is making it impossible to advance much in the way of the conservative agenda. If he would just shut up and not text (or if he did that two years ago) then he would be immensely more effective. But he isn't going to do that (and probably can't).

Daytton3, most of us don't like his tweets and his mouth. I some times would like to smash his computer and gag him. But then I look at all he has done and how he is constantly trashed. How the bias news and Democrats refuse to tell anything he does and I think, hell go ahead, it's what you do that's important and in just two and a half years, I have never seen anything like it. It's unbelievable what he has accomplished in just a short time. Especially considering the Left will give him nothing and even several on the Right is fighting him. Most of it is embellishing on what he's done and maybe he thinks if he doesn't tell it, no one will and gets carried away. He is also not like any other, he doesn't just sit back and let people trash him, he fights back. But again, it's what he really does that's going to effect us, our children and grandchildren. He keeps amazing me at what he can get done.

I don't disagree. Entirely. Personally though I don't think a person has to "fight back" every time they are attacked. Sometimes it isn't even wise. I remember one of our congressman who served 8 years who made it a point to NEVER mention anyone running against him and to NEVER acknowledge their attacks.

When you respond to people justified or not it gives them a degree of power over you.

Trump's insecurity makes him a sucker puncher, lashing out with his crybaby name-calling, and his narcissistic compulsions are hurting the nation. When the record ten year economic expansion finally fizzles, even his contortionist apologists will be asking, "Where is his promised 'something terrific' healthcare plan that 'covers everybody' at 'less cost'? Why is the cost of what is, by far, the most expensive system on earth still soaring? Why is the national debt, as well? Why has the global community lost respect for America - as have most decent Americans - because of the documented chronic liar? Why do so many Americans revile the nation's president so unabashedly? Because he promotes division as serving his agenda.

Rep. Duncan Hunter, one of Donald Trump’s first allies in Congress,
described the president in profane terms to a group of Republicans...
but also touted the president as their champion.
“He’s just like he is on TV,” Hunter, R-Alpine, told the group.
    “He’s an assh•le, but he’s our assh•le.”
