    The Danes have really only ever needed it for fish and oil. The EU gives them free access to everything else and they don't have a major industrial base. The US actually has a use for the islands resources to justify the spending needed. Also more money to work with.

    What does that have to do with anything? HE'S not going to do the negotiating, whatever bluster to the contrary he may spew. It's the Senate that will do all the talking and deal making. Trump's only roal would be to do photo ops, sign the treaty and take credit. The Europeans can work with that as long as the Senate sends competent negotiators.

    Hey remember what people I come from. If Ukraine had a mountain range between it and Russia the wolfs would have been a better place.
    So yes a buffer is great but more importantly it is to keep Russia from googling up any more Artic land and resources.

    You know I keep reminding people that Russia is an enemy.

    The real reason is China’s interest in Greenland. China tried to purchase an abandoned US base before the Danes stepped in and stopped it. China has been investing heavily in Greenland. China wants an Arctic presence.
