True no doubt but, I don't think this will make much of a difference in the grand scheme of things. The Dems need to put forward something to vote for. Hillary campaigned on nothing but "bad Trump.. bad Trump" - and where did that get her ?

Oddsmakers have Trump at 50/50. If you think that impeachment will damn Trump's election chances - there is easy money to be made.

In my recollection - Oddsmaker numbers do not generally make it easy for you to make money.

Not sure what impact this will have on the voters - those in Trumps camp certainly will not care. I have claimed - and stand by this claim - that it will be the Anti Establishment crowd that determines the outcome of this election.

This crowd resulted in Trumps win last election - and since the movement has grown larger. I do not claim that this group is going to vote Trump - only that it will decide this election.

Oh, I didn't know you were talking about the 2020 election... Impeachment then "Acquittal" will have very little impact on that...

I don't remotely see Trump as being 50/50, but I won't hazard a pct until we know what the D ticket is...

I was citing the what the oddsmakers have Trumps chances at. I find this a bit high as well but - the numbers are what they are.

This latest poll has Sanders in the lead (24%).. Warren Second (22%) .. and Biden at 14% just above Pete at 12%. https://www.latimes.com/politics/story/2019-12-05/democrats-2020-race-california-poll

Trump vs Sanders would be interesting (this should have been the fight card last election - and Sanders would have won - IMO)

Of course! Trump managed to energize both Democrats and Republican Nevertrumpers, all who's part of the swamp. So? You gonna impeach Trump, do it. Trump will not resign and will go on winning re-elections, thanks in no small part to this impeachment. I'm already past the kangaroo court.

But the Senate hearing... tis I'll watch, at least parts of them :)

As you should. It’s Biden’s year. He’s been chosen! He will win the White House! Nothing to worry!

Is this similar to the blanket immunity given to Hillary's staff? I'm not a constitutional attorney and don't play one on TV, so I won't claim to be an expert. I don't think he should make that claim though, I'm sure there are other legal means to deny his tax records to NYC. Your other points I don't know all the facts to reply to.

Same thing happened under Obama, yet he was not charged with obstruction of congress, nor were impeachment proceedings begun.

As I recall, the documents were never released and Holder was found in contempt of congress, but that was as far as it went.

No... you are making the same mistake almost all conservatives are making...

Obama claimed Execute Privilege, which is denying Congress a single request over a particular scenario or witness.

Nixon/Trump claimed Absolute Immunity, which is denying Congress everything over everything. In this system, you don't even have to specify EP over any particular document, witness, or question.

That's a loser.... You have to get to the stage where you have to claim EP over certain things.

The good news (I hope) is that when courts rule AI is invalid, it will equally rule EP doesn't apply over what Congress is asking for here, although I doubt it. Otherwise, Trump can then claim EP as well as AI, which will just further the stonewalling.

That's understandable. And no, their immunity was derived from essentially a cooperation deal made with the investigators.

Fully cooperate and we agree not to pursue any potential charges for non-intentional behavior. Note, I dont know the exact contours of the deal, but I have to imagine that investigators found evidence that they intentionally committed a felony.

Yet, AFAIK, her staff didn't do anything to help the investigation. I'm not even sure they were questioned about any possible criminal actions.

Yes, Hillary’s staff was questioned; it welt like this:

FBI: Did you, nice people, do anything wrong?
    The Staff, altogether: NO!!!
FBI: OK nice people, you can go.

They fully complied with the cooperation and quotes and documents from their cooperation are included, in abundance, in the multiple reports issued by James Comey (initially) and the State Department (very recently).

Just like they say Trump refuses to testify while Hillary testified for hours, when her answer was mostly "I don't recall".

11 hours of Congressional testimony in public.

    Trump can't handle any.
