Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump said Monday he would press lawmakers to enact a payroll tax cut and ensure assistance is available to hourly workers amid a roiling coronavirus pandemic that's caused deep economic concerns and stock market shock.
    https://www.cnn.com/2020/03/09/poli...nomic-response-markets-coronavirus/index.html

Hmm, so Trump wants to take some of MY tax dollars and assist hourly workers with it. As a liberal, I support that, of course.

But tell me Trump supporters: how is that not socialism? Isn't everyone supposed to sink or swim on their own in this Trumpian new world? Do you guys now acknowledge we're all in this together, like Democrats have been saying forever?

Ann Rand is rolling over in her grave.

The US Federal Government continues to have antiquated solutions to 21st century problems, and the only reason you/most people support those solutions is that those are the only ones that are there. The self-sufficiency would improve with increased hiring and in my economic revolution, I proposed turning workers into entrepreneurs, so that instead of the 90/10 lobsided mess we're in, we should have 60% Entrepreneurs/40% workers.

The difference between me and Karl Marx is that I don't want to take distributive property, instead I want to enhance the worker's qualifications, capability and intelligence so as to create his own property and businesses by himself.

    WTH does this even means?

"We're also going to be talking about hourly wage earners getting help so that they can be in a position where they're not going to ever miss a paycheck," he added.

Money aint for free. So of course he is taking your money. He's just lending it, and it needs to be repaid through taxes!
And Donald commie Trump is financially aiding all kinds of companies with this. How is this governmental aid suddenly capitalism? lol

"Cohn called the Fed's surprise emergency rate cut last week ineffective. The move did little to calm markets, and Trump later said the half-point cut wasn't sufficient."

LMAO. Pray tell why should the Fed cut rates when the economy is doing well??

Of course it isn’t free these folks are working and earning it. The money is staying in the paychecks they earned through their own hard work

He made the farmers socialists with the $28 Billion he gave them after his tariff failure with China. And still our farmers had record bankruptcies, so it was probably the large corporate farms that got the taxpayer relief.

It is intellectually lazy to paint every argument as black or white. It serves no purpose and starts the conversation without opportunity for true discussion.

No conservative that I know opposes ALL social programs. They dont despise all safety nets. And they certainly dont desire to see millions run out of money in the case that quarantine happens or other major economic pandemics like war.

Let's try to have honest discussions here.

Excellent approach when the 2020 POTUS is fast approaching, now Trump became a real politician a win win situation for both the DEMS and the GOPS with of course taking it from the FEDS purse. It should be substantial as to make a noticeable impact.

I guess we could take it out of the SS and Medicare benefits. Is that the plan? Or is it just to add it to the card?

I don't get the tax cut idea. The interest rate cut didn't do ****.
Maybe a tax credit for adding a sick leave policy?

A payroll tax cut means that the government takes less money and lets the earners keep it. That's my kind of socialism!

Trump's probably trading the payroll tax cut he's been pushing for Nancy's paid sick leave for all, and maybe a federal minimum wage increase. She'll try to get the paid sick leave and min wage, but won't negotiate the tax cut....and the virus will have burned itself out before they make an agreement.

Of course it's going on the card. The House holds the government's purse strings and Nancy won't agree to anything less than running up the deficit. She'll never have to pay for it. Heck, the sky's the limit!

I don't know, but it sure smells a lot like WEALTH REDISTRIBUTION!1!11. Which, in the Trumpian world, becomes a good thing as soon as Trump supports it. Whenever I look at Breitbart's comments section, I'm reminded of that Goebells rally in 43:
    "Do you want total war???"
    "Ja!"

It will help. But imagine the campaign ads in a couple months, when we have millions infected, thousands dead/dying and people on ventilators in carnival tents.
"We have this contained. Virtually airtight"
"the 15, within a couple of days, is going to be down to close to zero. That’s a pretty good job we’ve done."
"“I don’t think it’s going to come to that, especially with the fact that we’re going down, not up. We’re going very substantially down, not up.”"

Those will be absolutely devastating, politically.

It's Ayn BTW, and yes, people should be able to survive on their own. But, we live in a country that is going to have to dig its way out of the systems that have been created by left wing ideologies, e.g., the welfare state and social programs from 'big govt'.

Maybe you will admit that Trump's nationalism is justified after watching the economy collapse because we have our supply chain in China?

...fade to Trump's tweet of himself playing a fiddle.

Biden doesn't even have to campaign. Trump will be despised by everyone. He won't be elected dog catcher.

Trump is (OBVIOUSLY) acting like a Socialist.

Why does Trump want to give away free money?

And, why do his supporters not say anything?

Why would we have millions infected and thousands dead in two months? The virus was discovered about 2.5 months ago, and there are only 112,000 infected and 4000 dead all over the entire world, with a population of 7.5 Billion people. Sheesh!

This is all political. Trump wants a payroll tax cut for the working and middle-class which will also help companies lower costs and provide more jobs. Nancy wants sick leave for all, higher min wage, more food stamps, expanded unemployment insurance, free tests and vaccinations for the entire country, 100% government subsidized cost of treatment, etc.

Washington D.C. is simply utilizing the virus as an excuse to negotiate things that each side wants. A "global emergency" is always a good excuse for the government to bring in less and spend more!
