We are all grateful that Trump is president during such trying times.... Hillary would shoot everyone not self isolating and Biden will forget what it is and call it "The thing"

    GONE WRONG

He has asked his "son-in-law" to make all the decisions and "take action" on behalf of the government. Kushner has set up in an entirely different DC-office with his "yes-men" (who kiss his ass because he's richer than Croesus).

So, what you have got - America - is someone who has never been elected to office as Chief Executive in abstentia !

What next, I ask? What next? When will enough-be-enough? DONALD DORK WAS NOT ELECTED "POTUS"! The American people in a popular-vote elected Hillary who won by a sizable statistical margin!

Get it?!? It's all gone wrong, gone wrong, gone wrong!

Anyone who calls that a Functional Democracy needs their head examined ... !

PS: November is only seven months away!

    Yes, quite right!

BUT "NIOSH" IS NOT A FUNCTIONAL ENTITY. It is a think-tank. And a good one!

It writes guidelines on actions that others must take!

Where are the "others"? All at the state-levels. And like anything else at state-levels it is as good as state-funding has allowed it to be functionally ...

PS: If nothing else, this COVID-19 will teach us to be prepared in the future. But at the expense of a great many lives that could otherwise have been avoided!
PPS: And as far as the National Health Services go in the Europe - they too were taken by surprise. But some have done remarkably well in reaction. Germany is perhaps the best of the lot!

It allows states to impose candidates where there was not a sufficient political-party's candidate to win otherwise.

Those candidates spend some time in statewide politics, then move up to the US Congress, and then to the presidency.

The political-system is very tightly run because the "money-involved-in-elections is "private". Do tell me how it isn't so.

Private-money in a public election is just asking for manipulation and any who don't care to understand that political-factor are thus VERY naive ...

The CDC and NIH ARE assisting and have been. 3M has discounted those reports and are actively monitoring it's distributors to ensure they are not doing as such.

Again you guys on the one hand attack the federal government and declare how it has failed and then insist they takeover ALL the response and take over the state and local agencies. The duplicity is amazing.

France has a population of 65,239,906 and 8,911 Corona deaths. The U.S. has a population of 330,149,796 and 8,910 deaths from the Virus. France is supposed to have the best universal health care in the world, yet they have 1/5th the population of the United States and as many Corona deaths. Anyone still want universal health care?

Perhaps you should worry about your countries politics. If I remember correctly, Paris was on fire a couple of month ago.
Most in this country are satisfied with our presidents response to the Chinese virus.

I’d wait to look silly about comparisons till the event is over. But looking silly never stopped Trump and his friends before.

The first attribute mentioned applies to nearly all politicians. One could argue the second attribute applies to more than a few.

    FUNDAMENTAL TRANSFORMATION

    And perhaps I shouldn't.

I think most Americans are damn fools to believe in a nitwit like Donald Dork. Which is precisely what is wrong with the country.

The US is at a turning-point in "eras". We are evolving from the Industrial Age to the Information Age, and you-plural are blind to the significance of what is happening to the economy. We left that Agricultural Age when the invention of the steam-engine forced labor off the farms into Industries that were creating jobs and needed a workforce in cities. That was in the 19th century!

What is happening today is another such historic evolution, and you-plural are BLIND, BLIND, BLIND to that fundamental transformation. Which will require skills that are obtainable in post-secondary education. Which, like secondary schooling, should be free, gratis and for nothing!.

    Too bad for you-plural ...

    TRUMP'S FAILURES

And Donald Trump has been a sick, sick man ever since his father left him 50 megabucks (along with his sisters and brothers) and he thought he was a Competent Investor. Do you understand how many business failures he has had in his life-time? No, of course not. Because you focus only on his business successes in Real Estate.

Then have a look here: Donald Trump’s Business Failures: A Complete Guide - excerpt:

And another of his failures has been Trump's Presidency! What has he done for the nation that the nation has not done for itself? What?

He lowered upper-income taxation for his ultra-rich friends so they would contribute to his re-election campaign! That's what ...

Oh, really? And the dieing hasn't even really started? And when people were shouting to get prepared back three weeks, Donald Dork was denigrating such talk as "far too soon"? (His hotels were still at average customer levels!)

Are you sure you live in the US, or just prefer to remain blind about the facts of COV-19?

Yeah, I think it's that - evidently you live on the moon ...

France aint "my country" - I don't vote there. In 1999, a State Department estimate suggested that the number of Yanks living abroad may be between 3 million and 6 million. In 2016, the agency estimated 9 million U.S. citizens were living abroad.. And yet we have no representation whatsoever in either part of the Congress!

(The central cathedral in Paris caught fire. So would you likely do so at some point in time were you almost 900 years old.)

And so you think he will win a second-term?

Maybe. We Yanks have become so politically dumbfounded we'd likely elect Mickey Mouse if he and Minnie ran for the presidency.

What's wrong with America? It's a country that THINKS because an economy is doing well, it is because of the PotUS. And when the country is doing badly, it's because of the PotUS. Which just shows how ignorant most are about how an economy actually works.

The economy very rarely has anything to do with presidential decisions. Most people could care less, they are fixated (as they should be) on how well "they" are doing. And, in a country with a serious over-weight problem, it can't be that bad.

    Hint:
*Donald Dork diminished upper-income taxation two years ago. For what? So the super-rich would spend more money and boost the economy? Nope, that didn't happen. It wasn't necessary.
*He did it so "his friends" (who already have far too much Wealth) will financially support his reelection ...

PS: Yeah, right - I'm just jealous of him ...

Nope. Ha ha. Not even close. You can argue that but it doesn’t hold water.

That’s a false equivalency. The felony convictions under gop admins over Dems, is over 100 to 1 now.

It’s only natural. You have one group that doesn’t believe in science, ( the acquisition of facts in everything, even politics) they have to sway everyone with deceit and lies.

Oh. There are a some d.b.s on the liberal side, but it’s not the rule and the admired trait like it is in the gop.

The biggest fault of liberals is their perpetual way of feeling that they should compromise with the gop, a party that doesn’t even believe in facts.

Compromise with a party that thinks the moon is made of cheese just gets to a place that’s half wrong all the time.

    Bull's Eye!

They think that "freedom" is to bend the rules in their favor. Not necessarily BREAK the rules, but soften them so that they bend very readily. And that happens with "payoffs" to those who "officiate the rules in their favor".

Then they crow to all-and-sundry how they were born with Great Marketing Smarts!

    Ninety-nine-times-out-of-a-hundred its all bluff ...

    Good reading, from here:
THE ACTUAL LAWS TRUMP HAS BROKEN, JUST WITH THE UKRAINE AND CHINA AFFAIRS, COULD LAND HIM 10 YEARS IN PRISON
