I think you're wrong. First off, ff huge corps thought it profitable to run the mom n pop business then they would already be running them. Second, there is a LOT of tax revenue being lost from businesses that are now shuttered. That's not a recipe to grow the government. Third, there's no limit to mom and pops ready to jump in a fill the void by any mom and pop that has failed.
This virus is an act of God, full stop. It sucks for everyone, and some much more than others. Life's is a bitch.

It would set quite a strong example if the President were to go and meet the people in confinement in a dense urban area.

Well what's the basis for your little scenario, fantasy, conjecture, fiction, hope or simply a medley of horse and bullshit sprinkled with unsupported opinion?

Seems you forgot to include the SCENARIO in you original fantasy :)

Any description would just go over your head. Perhaps you think that the whole world has gone into lockdown just to irritate you. And you think I can read the future!

Did Trump ever order any states to shut down? If not, what objective impact does his saying they can re-open have? It doesn't mean they have to...

Seems to me states have had and still have total authority in how they respond. Which is how its supposed to be.

I'm betting a lot of this is rooted in state officials fearing: 'now we can't blame the shut down on Trump!'

    How dare he...

Just means they are on a different point on the curve. Look at any chart and see the range of dates when the virus is predicted to peak in different states.

Look at the trajectory of corporate farms versus family farms.

If that's typical of their inhabitants I would prefer to not.

A citizen of one their larger cities was tested out of concern and went to multiple parties. You can't remotely defend this.

The state of Wyoming can do whatever they want, it is none of your business.

What cannot be defended is keeping things like this indefinitely.

Once the remedy starts taking lives we'll find that we would have been better off doing nothing.. I'm confident however that that is something we won't have to deal with.

But yes, there is a point economically that the shut down becomes worse than the illness, death and loss of individual liberty.

18 months is too long we have to reopen before then no matter the consequences..

I say 6 months absolute maximum.

And? Is that the magic number of deaths or something? When are you hysterics going to tell everyone the magic number of deaths that requires the entire world to suspend all normal social and economic activities? I just want to know what the number is, since you all seem to believe that it exists.

Sweden isn't on lockdown. They're doing fine, despite all the lies being told about them. Their death rate is far lower than in countries like Italy and Spain and France and Belgium. You're just wrong. But you can't admit it because it's too embarrassing for you.

I'm one of those people who requires evidence before believing something. Clearly, you are the other type of person.

You shouldn't trust anyone unless you know them. But evidence doesn't require trust, which is why I rely on that instead of facile appeals to authority.

Even if it was three times MORE deadly than the flu, it would still make no sense. Not only is there no evidence supporting the efficacy of "social distancing" strategies, which were literally invented a month or two ago, but there has never been a consensus established on how many deaths justify the indefinite suspension of normal life for every human on the planet. This is the most radical response to any problem in human history. But there is nothing radical about the threat of a virus. Humans have lived alongside microorganisms for our entire existence. There is nothing unique or special about a virus. The only thing unique about this situation is the unhinged emotional response from ninnies and authoritarians.

good, cause while the flu kills .1% of those infected, Covid-19 kills at least 2% of those infected.

that makes it 20x more deadly than the flu.

It shouldn't even be a choice. Lives trump 'the economy' every time. We live in the First World - even in the very worst case economic scenario we'll all have enough to eat.
