Point taken. I won't attempt to speak for you anymore. I was simply making an observation. Likewise, I respect people that do me the same courtesy.

Maybe because you are making a big deal about something that does not concern you and you will never watch

You are the one claiming you know how Christians pray. So you have nothing just more of your ignorance

Last I saw,NASCAR is NOT a Government sanctioned event, therefore the Separation Of Church And State does not apply to them. They are free to hold a prayer and exercise their freedom of religion rather you like it or not.Get over it.

It is not in your place to judge whether or not it protects them. If they feel like it will, then they can. If I want to wear a lucky shamrock necklace because it gives me good luck can a person say to me that what I'm wearing is offensive and for me to take it off? No.

If they feel like it makes them any safer they have the religious freedom to do it, and if you don't like then change the channel.

Why should they be expected to? Would you be disappointed in a similar way had you witnessed some other type of event which hosted a Rabbi, Imam, or Lama who was speaking to a crowd of people who were overwhelmingly followers of the represented faith?

NASCAR is a dangerous sport. Ask Dale Earnhardt about it. (RIP Dale!)

You may be surprised to know that many athletes from dangerous sports hold prayer before competing. It may be their last day on Earth.

I think the OP was summed up by the OP.

You don't really dig NASCAR. You aren't the demographic. The loyalty of NASCAR followers is emboldened, in the geographic regions prayer happens in, by the prayer.

It really doesn't affect you, nor is it intended for you. It isn't my gig either. I am a US/World Superbike/MotoGP guy.

Just keep changing the channel is the best advice. Feigning outrage is a losing proposition.

*edit* On that subject... I recommend everyone on the planet see the film Faster, narrated by Ewan McGregor. If you like go fast things, there is no better documentary on the planet. Netflix it... you will not be disappointed. I was fast... hell I was a hero in certain circles of the AMA world... what I did was like kindergarten to the level these men are on.

    Valentino Rossi FTW.

Even if you don't like racing you will be gripped by this film... and it is an important documentary on the transition from the alien 2 stroke to the 4 strokes.

You don't even know the sport... so your ignorant opinion is trash.

I grew up in the summers picking rocks out of tires at Laguna Seca and Sear Point. My Dad raced CanAm and he was pit chief for a Formula 1 driver who died from a crash as Sear Point (coma 6 months first).

I am alright with circle tracks, but prefer a road race.

A prayer at the start ruins in for no one as most are God loving fans and those that are not at least know better than to feign outrage over something that in their minds has zero effect on them.

Take the false outrage and stuff it.

Probably something about the troops... as prayer involving war means God is to favor just a portion of his children. They're free to do it.

Were they praying to baby Jesus?

Last I saw, I didn't mention a thing about separation of church and state in this thread. This is the second time I've had to point that out. Never once did I say they couldn't legally have a prayer. You cons need to keep up.

So therefore, what? I can't have an opinion on this subject because I don't fit the "demographic"? I guess only black people (or bi-racial) people can comment on Obama from now on. Ludicrous.

Nobody is saying you can't have an opinion on NASCAR since you don't like the sport, they're calling you out for being a condescending prick. I'm sorry you can't grasp this.

I guess someone should have prayed for that driver. It could have saved his life. Or so I'm told.:bored:

I mean, six months in a coma....no one thought to pray?

You missed my point, sport. I wasn't talking anything black. My segregation comment was not alluding to race. Read my post again and all should be made clear. If not, there's no hope for you.

You're right, there's a massive Muslim, Hindu, and Shinto fan base for NASCAR, and their prayers aren't included before the start of the race, and it drives pc Nazis like you crazy. My bad.

I don't understand why the Muslims need to say their prayers right in the middle of Manhattan streets, blocking traffic jams, but they're allowed to do it .... are you ok w/that?

The prayer and fly-over is part of NASCAR's tradition..... get used to it or turn the channel........

You'd likely hear not a peep! The precursors to objection are not of the right order.

Have they ever come out and said that they were atheists? No? Nice try, Randle. They sound just as agnostic as I am.
