What does Santa Claus have to do with the education system? you, yourself just the other day claimed that kids should not be allowed to celebrate their religious holiday in schools, so why is an educator talking about Santa?

This is the problem with our education system and why it has and is failing. because teachers don't do their (*)(*)(*)(*) job.

    Fair warning.

Progressives want the state to be the parents of us all. They cannot accept that society simply wants gov't to be a faithful servant, and not an overlord.
You vote for progressives at your own peril for the promise of gov't cheese.

Do you have kids? Should a bus driver on a school bus free them from ignorance about the act of intercourse? Does that make sense to you?

Why do people always focus on the worst cases when it comes to teachers? Millions of teachers are in this country who work hard at teaching and generally love what they do helping our children.

I'm sure this teachers actions reflect every teachers actions in the minds of the dimwitted.

No, their parents should free them from ignorance about the act of intercourse. But then again, I don't think parents should be sending them to these rotten government schools in the first place. If they do, they shouldn't be surprised when the schools inculcate values the parents don't like. That's what they're there for, after all: to take children from their parents and mold them in the image of the state.

Santa Claus is a modified form of Νικόλαος Μυριώτης who is a very real persons of history. The american form unifies the outfit of two german forms of Nikolaus (rewards the good deeds) and his bodyguard Krampus or Knecht Rupprecht (punishes the bad deeds). It seems to me this tradition came the way over Scandinavia into the USA. Since a very long time lots of different traditions in the USA modified this celebrations so it is now in the centre of Christmas. The very simple background: a lot of heavenly fun because of the birthday of Jesus Christ. Even Muslims could celebrate Christmas without any problem as harmless as Christmas is - but some people seem to make out of everything a problem if it is a lot of fun and joy. No - Santa is somehow for sure real - not in every detail - but the question could be: How real are the enemies of Santa? And I "know"- the enemies of Santa will not win - and if then everyone will be very sad about.

Ok, you've made it very clear that you don't have the capacity to understand that little children believing in santa is part of the childhood yrs, which only lasts for about 3-4 yrs.... that's your problem.

It's not a case of 'lying' when your 3-4 yr old toddler gets all excited about santa, it's letting them be a child and enjoy that fun, magical time that other kids are also enjoying. Let the kids be kids - they lose their innocence soon enuf when some of the schools want to start teaching them about homosexuality when they're only in kindergarten!

Most little kids believe there really is a Superman, Batman Spiderman, the Muppets, Sesame Street and other fictional characters and there's nothing wrong w/that....... it's just the make-believe world they live in. So, if your small son believes Superman is real, why can't he believe in Santa? Would you slap your small son upside the head and tell him to stop being stupid b/c there is no such thing as Batman?

Kids need to be left alone and enjoy their lives as they see it in their 3-4-5 yr old minds and in 1-2 yrs when they start to question the existence of santa, then you explain the reason for santa - it's for the little ones enjoyment of Christmas.......

    Don't ever have children........

Meat, explaining sex/childbirth to a kid is the parent's job. If the parent is negligent about talking to their kids about the facts of life, then a teacher or someone close needs too......

Since when is Santa Claus part of the assignment?

She was out of line, Meat. It's up to the parents to decide how their own kids celebrate Xmas and if their own kids believe in santa or not, not the TEACHER!

Hmmm....... Say, that sounds amazingly close to what is happening out here in California.......

They believe they have a right and a duty to save all those intolerant SOB children.

LOL Gotta love the ironic hypocrisy............

Well...Santa does teach children that no one can be trusted, including their parents. Which is good to know and the earlier the better :-D

Ostap, get a grip. Santa isn't real. On what grounds would you be firing them?

Nob, Santa if he ever existed, died centuries ago.

Or are you trying to say he is accumulating presents as we speak, with a view to dropping down every chimney in the world on Christmas Eve?:) If so, I am a very good girlie and would like an Omega Ladymatic diamond studded number, pls pass it on to Santa.

I don't have any objection to Santa the myth and magical figure. It's a lot of fun. But if some teacher decides to tell the truth about it, is it different than the kid who told you and I that Santa isn't real? Does the school have an official policy on how to deal with Santa? And if you insist that the school adopts such a policy, for certain sure you are killing Santa for good, because some funkiller is going to insist the policy reflects reality.

When I found out there was no Santa, I was devastated...

After realizing what a monstrous lie had been foist upon me in the most innocent years of my life, I lost all faith and trust in society.

Oh! If only some brave teacher had had the courage to inform me of the truth! How different my life would be today. Alas! It was not to be, and here I sit...a broken and feeble man-child.

I don't know. I am sure more priests than not are great men who go out of their way to help people. I do think though that the denial of sex that comes with the position might fuel some bad apples to do terrible things, but I personally don't think it is reflective of the priesthood as a whole.

Apparently the teacher was discussing geography, specifically the North Pole and asked if the kids knew where it was on the globe. The kids said that is where Santa lives at which point she made her 'anti-Santa' comments.

She didn't HAVE to do that. She could have just continued on with the geography lesson. Example: Teacher: "No kids we're not discussing Santa we are discussing where on the GLOBE the North Pole is." Then, let it go at that.

Knowing there is no Santa was worse for me than knowing there is no god.

Lying about a bogeyman who constantly watches you to check up on whether you have been bad or good so he can reward or punish you is despicable. To do it to children about Santa is even worse.

They should get over it. At seven years old, if those kids weren't beginning to doubt santa's there was something wrong with them. A jolly fat guy flying around delivering presents, I started to think it was bs when I was around 5. Then again, I did believe in god till I was 17. It's practically the same thing.

Plenty of men are single all their lives and don't engage in child abuse. I see how it's unnatural to abstain, but don't see how priests are any different than an ordinary man who happens for any reason to be unable to attract a mate.

That reminds me of the Left's meme about Bush throwing innocent terrorists into sunny Gitmo.
