I agree, it would be nice if we could offer incentives for the little guys that could level the playing field. Since no lobbyist actually represents the small producers it will never happen. Let the large farms sink or swim on their own.

Congressional leaders agreed to extend the Farm Bill. They did not actually extend the bill. Doing so implies that they voted on an extension, and after doing a quick search through CSPAN's Congressional Cronicle, and the Congressional Record, I do not see any indication of a passed bill.

    pecan plz. :hungry:

true story. my son was born with a soy and dairy allergy (he's growing out of it) and i suggested using lard instead of shorting...his mother went ape (*)(*)(*)(*). "that's pure fat!"..."well, what do you think shortening is???" have you ever priced palm oil shortening? it's freaking outrageous. coconut oil is a little better.

This is why energy/food inflation isn't totally out of control; US subsidies.

Just look at it. Without this subsidy, milk would absolutely be double the cost.

    CPI is criminal.

Tell 'em to apply for food stamps. Things are tough for us all in the Obamanomics economy failure.

I agree. Maybe Congress and the President can reallocate BLS funds from unnecessary international comparative labor statistical datasets to the creation of a more accurate and robust CPI.

Sure, we don't "need" milk. That doesn't mean we don't want it. Have you ever tried to deny milk to a 3 year old? I ran out and my nephew acted like i'd killed his dog.

I don't need this tasty IPA, that doesn't mean I'm not going to drink it.

I doubt it will occur as well, just as I doubt that the BLS receive funds to create more accurate and robust unemployment data.

Fuzziness is fine and dandy in the fields of anthropology and sociology. It actually denotes greater accuracy. In economics, it is a disaster. Accuracy is highly correlated with robustness.

Milk will cause some cancers in young people. For the most part, the bad effects of milk will have a slow clogging effect that will turn up in in these diseases in your 40s, 50s, and 60s.

I urge you to read: "The China Study," "Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease," and "Eat to Live." The evidence is overwhelming.

A plant-based diet provides everything we need, and without the risk.

All of these books are available at Amazon and the Public Library:

    EAT TO LIVE by Fuhrman
PREVENT AND REVERSE HEART DISEASE by Esselstyn
    THE CHINA STUDY by Campbell

I bought them at Amazon. Their opinions are similar with some small differences. All are good reading and well-worth the cost.
