OK - but some people see "congress" and think "house".

How isn't it equitable? They have THREE votes. THREE. They account for .5% of the total vote, the lowest possible per the constitution.

Some people are not too bright. I am not one of them. I assume people know what words mean until they prove otherwise.

I just did the math for you. How is it equitable for the citizens of CA that they are under represented compared to WY? Perhaps the solution lies in changing the criteria from congressional seats to a population based model.

I repeat - how much less representation would you like them to have? They have .2% of the population so they get the minimum of .5% of the say in the vote.

It already is a population based model. We re-district every 10 years after the census. Some states end up with more and some end up with less after the census. The only way to make it completely equal is to ensure that there is one rep for every 538,000 people, which would mean almost 600 representatives. I don't favor that. We get as close as we can. These criminals already make too much money and you want to pay for another 150 of them?

If CA was to have equal representation in the EC compared to WY, CA would get 69 votes instead of 53 and WY could keep its 3 votes.

If CA was to have equal representation in the EC compared to WY, CA would get 69 votes instead of 53 and WY could keep its 3 votes. So the answer lies in increasing the number of votes the heavily populated states get.

Since when? I am not in favor of getting rid of the house of representatives, but I am in favor of getting rid of the electoral college.

    House of Reps: 435

    Electoral college: 538

People don't elect the president. Why is this so hard? All of Wyoming gets 3 votes. Give me a number. How much less representation should Wyoming have? California gets 10% of all the votes. That's more than anyone else.

I will keep you posted with updates. I'll check with Trump first, though, to get find out what his plans were to eliminate the EC prior to the election.

Are you suggesting the elite political establishment favored Trump over Hillary?

I don't see a way for equal representation. Popular vote - one person one vote - makes the most sense to me. And before you jump in with Constitutional issues, I'll save you the trouble and give my answer to that now...when it was written, the country wasn't populated in the numbers or way it is now. Like other issues, it no longer applies. At least not in my opinion.

See, and that's where we completely disagree. You want to take away rights and representation from less populated states. We are the United STATES. States choose the president, not the people. This is as it should be.

I suspect that if voting results of the last election had been reversed and HC won, the electoral college would be the system that insured balance and equality for all states, and should not be disturbed.

The democrats ethical view here is self-serving- but then, so is everything else they do these days.

Few things change so fast as an opportunistic argument from a liberal.

You realize that is entirely possible that Trump would have won anyway if popular vote mattered? You can't predict the results of an election had it been under different rules. Many people in solid states don't vote, simply because it doesn't matter. Millions of Republicans in Cali would vote if popular vote was the decision maker. The same is true in all non-purple states.

Actually, I don't want to take away rights and representation from anyone. One person - one vote. That ensures that everyone's vote counts equally.

You are confusing a system of the popular vote vs the state vote. Your way robs a lot of smaller states.

If nothing else changes, except the popular vote determines the winner, Trump still wins - neither he nor Hillary had a majority; absent a majority, the election goes to the house.

The issue isn't much different. It's based on the whole State vs. person models. If you don't like it, move to a more optimal state.
