As this data from the US government shows over 70% of those in poverty have, a working refrigerator, television stove and microwave oven, air conditioning , clothes washer, VCR, cable TV, DVD player, clothes dryer, more then one television, cordless phone, and cellular phone, and a car.

It is proof that the free market syatem we have in America that even those that we would classify as being the worst off in our country have amenities that even the wealthiest Americans could not have dreamed of even 50 years ago.

Then why not just pay for them to live off the Government doll for the rest of their lives? Why even bother to work, if everything will be paid for you forever?

And I agree, nobody should be forced to join the military. Thankfully, we do not have a draft. But at least people in the military are getting these benefits you say everybody should have, and are working to earn them.

And who said anything about war? Or are you one of those that sees the military as nothing but mindless killing machines?

Many of those poor work. And some of that stuff is dirt cheap, and an abundance of them. You can buy a microwave at goodwill for less that $10 and many other things far less than that.
There is an abundance of 2nd hand stuff around, and many will receive christmas and birthday gifts as well. Yes, poor people celebrate those things.

How about the same rate as upper middle class. Or even the same rate as many rich pay. Somewhere between 25% and 35%.

I already pointed out earlier in the thread. That list is pure BS. No more needs to be said.
Many poor work. There are a few, as I stated, that won't work.

I'll accept that. There are those who take and are unable to give back. They, by definition, are mooching. Those who take under the guise of being unable are cowardly thieves.

If being poor is so great, then go get on the dole and tell how great it is.

    Put your opinion to action.

Hey brilliant, did the pioneers of the West or the thousands who came here from the world over deserve a free ride? They came here and risked it all for the slightest chance at a life of their own choosing based upon the sweat and toil of their efforts. Please don't disrespect those who came before you by spouting your socialistic junk.

Watch it, bro - you're treading on thin ice there. Those pioneers had to tread on the livelihood and sacred properties of many nations and tribes in order to manifest their destiny.

Maybe this should've been the original natives' flag:

The dole is for the losers and scum of our nation. Upstanding people take whatever and how many ever jobs they have to in order to avoid the dole.

It is a civic duty to avoid the dole, and if you are on it, you failed in life.

I guess your parents forgot to teach you that central lesson of American life?

I have been working since I was 14 and financially independent since 18. I put myself through college and paid all my bills.

Not only did my parents teach me responsibility and financial independence, they taught me to have morals. I don't look down upon someone who is poor or who had an unfortunate event that requires a helping hand. Too bad your parents didn't raise you better.

Again, if being poor is so great as the OP claims, then put your silly little opinion into action and then report back to us.

Yeah, but they didn't have their education paid for, or food stamps or Obamacare. That is just plain wrong.

We shouldn't leave things where they are. Including minorities. Treating minorities as if they're mental and emotional cripples and then crippling their abilities with over the top welfare handouts is a mistake. That's what the OP is saying.

And by the way, not only aren't corporations 'people', unions aren't 'people' either.

    And neither are Cpacs.

Which is why libs want topay people to stay poor, shackle them into a cycle o dependency, and keep them from being successful

All to keep Dems in power at the expense of the "poor"

Liberal compassion is a sight to behold

and guess what? They do not work for the full 99 weeks

and the libs come back and demand another extension of the unemployment benefits

In any case, fairness (for good and logical reasons) will be pursued.
